The 5 Best Notary Public Services in Winnipeg

The 5 Best Notary Public Services in Winnipeg

  • Qualifications - We chose notary publics in Winnipeg specializing in various documentation types.
  • Accessibility - We selected services that are available on most days of the week and are easy to communicate with.
  • Affiliations - We picked providers with various professional affiliations in the industry.
  • Rates - We looked for services that offer fair pricing.

Notarizing documents adds a layer of protection as they become legally binding once signed and stamped by an authorized notary public. These documents will then hold significant weight as evidence in trials, adding credibility.

The role of a notary public is important as they have the authority to verify the authenticity of signatures and can certify copies of paperwork. Hence, they can prevent fraud and contract disputes.

If you’re looking for one, check out our list of the best notary publics in Winnipeg.

Pros

  • Available daily
  • Affordable rates
  • Offers mobile services

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept card payments

EM Mobile Notary was founded by a retired civil lawyer, Eric Martens. His experience in the industry impressed us—he’s been a notary public for over 30 years in Manitoba!

One of the aspects we liked most about EM Mobile Notary is the flexible hours, and he even accepts same-day appointments. Martens is available any day of the week, even in the evenings—ideal for busy clients!

Speaking of flexibility, we like that he is available to meet at his location in Charleswood or the client’s preferred place, whether it’s your home or office. His accommodation allows for a smooth experience, in our opinion.

Moreover, his clients have praised his responsiveness. He was easy to communicate with despite being a one-man service! Nice!

We found his credentials pretty impressive, too. He is registered for document authentication with the Manitoba Department of Growth, Enterprise & Trade and the U.S. Embassy.

Price-wise, we were glad to learn Martens offers affordable rates! His mobile location fees are pricier than his Charleswood rates but still reasonable considering the travel expenses included.

Additionally, we admire his pricing transparency—his rates are available on the EM Mobile Notary website! As a result, clients travelling to his location won’t be surprised at the final prices.

However, he doesn’t accept card payments. Martens accepts cash and e-transfers, though.

Pros

  • Travels to your location
  • Speaks in English and Spanish
  • Available on weekends and holidays

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept card payments
  • Weekend appointments are charged differently

We admire Alicia C. Laufer, the founder of Laufer Notary because she established a mobile notary public in Winnipeg when she noticed the significant gap in on-the-go notary services in the area. Highly considerate, eh?

Moreover, we were glad to learn how qualified she is! She is not only a lawyer but has also been appointed as a notary public for the Province of Manitoba by the Companies Office.

Notably, she is bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows her to cater to the Latin community. We found this highly important for immigrants, especially for notarizing visa documents and refugee claims.

Plus, we really like Laufer’s availability, even on weekends and holidays! She also takes appointments in the evenings, which is ideal for busy clients.

Not only that, but she will also come to your preferred location in Winnipeg. We found this to be really convenient, an aspect worth noting!

However, since she exclusively only travels to your location, her prices will be higher to cover the necessary expenses—still within the reasonable range, though! Also, she charges differently for early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.

While she doesn’t accept card payments, she does offer other modes of payment, such as cash, e-transfers, and cheques. Still convenient for many, no?

Pros

  • Has four branches in Winnipeg
  • Offers virtual services
  • Has a virtual witnessing service
  • Available for same-day appointments

Cons

  • Not all offices are open on weekends
  • Not all virtual services are available in Winnipeg

A highly accessible notary service in Winnipeg is NotaryPro. They have branches in six provinces, with four locations in Winnipeg alone!

In addition, they are available for remote services, which we found highly convenient. We were impressed at the appointment choices, whether an in-person or virtual notary service!

In fact, their virtual service is efficient that you can get your documents notarized via electronic signature within a mere 15 minutes! That’s an ideal solution for emergency cases since they’re available for same-day services!

Furthermore, they have a virtual witnessing service, which is handy when the documents require traditional pen and paper signatures. We think the smooth service deserves mention!

However, not all of NotaryPro’s virtual services are available for Winnipeggers. For instance, they can only provide notary services for wills and power of attorneys within Ontario.

On a good note, we appreciate that they offer document templates for free, including travel consent for children, affidavit of identity, and affidavit of support for educational purposes. We appreciate how easily they make things for clients!

A minor issue about NotaryPro’s offices is some are closed on weekends. So if the available one is far away, you may need to travel for in-person signatures, which can be slightly inconvenient.

Pros

  • All lawyers are notary publics
  • Offers legal services
  • Can cater to many clients at once

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • No mobile services

Pollock & Company, a law firm, has a long history in Winnipeg, established in 1960 by Harvey I. Pollock, K.C. Their lawyers practice in various areas of law, such as medical malpractice, personal injury, criminal law, and immigration law.

No worries, though, because they also offer notary services to the public. One convenient aspect is that since they offer immigration law services, they can also notarize documents for immigration processes.

We were particularly impressed that all of their lawyers are also notary publics. We found this to be highly convenient since it ensures that notarial services are integrated with their legal expertise—it allows for a smooth process, too.

Additionally, since they have a larger team than other notary services in Winnipeg, they can cater to many clients at once. Except on weekends, though, since their office isn’t open daily.

Unfortunately, they don’t offer mobile notary services, likely due to it not being their primary area of service. That also means rushing through Winnipeg’s traffic to catch them in the office.

On a positive note, since they’re all lawyers, Pollock & Company’s notary services include witnessing and verifying the individual’s signatures on important documents. A vital factor for added assurance, eh?

Pros

  • Highly recognized by previous partners
  • Notary publics are lawyers
  • Provides legal services

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Lack of pricing transparency

Rajan Sharma founded Sharma Law Office in 2008. We were highly impressed upon discovering his team’s achievements in the industry.

Moreover, they received various Certificates of Excellence titles from previous partners, such as Stewart Title and FCT Canada. For us, those honours showcase their commitment to clients and service.

As a law firm, we like that they act as a one-stop shop for legal and notary services. They practice family law, immigration law, and wills and estate!

As for their notarial services, we appreciate the easy booking process on the website. You can choose your preferred time as well, giving flexibility and efficiency.

However, we may need to deduct some points for availability. It’s because they aren’t available for weekend appointments, which is a downside for those who require notarial services during weekends or have busy weekdays.

On the upside, we do like the fact that their lawyers are also notary publics. The dual role allows for simultaneous legal and notary services, which we think can provide an efficient and smooth process!

Unfortunately, we were saddened by reports regarding the prices. Some clients weren’t happy with the lack of transparency, especially since they charge higher prices than other notary public services in Winnipeg.
