The 5 Best Blinds in Winnipeg
Blinds offer sun protection, comfort, and privacy from nosy neighbours. They shield us from the outside world while adding a touch of aesthetics indoors.
But not all blinds are made the same. Some are vulnerable to ripping due to low-quality fabric or may not roll down smoothly due to poor mechanisms.
Fret no more! Check our picks of the best stores that sell blinds in Winnipeg!

Pros
- Offers free in-home consultation
- Upgrades traditional blinds to motorized
- Provides repair services
- Mobile app integration is available
Cons
- No physical store
- Closed on Sundays
CV Blinds has been serving Winnipeg since 1992. Throughout the years, they have expanded their product selection, which is a definite plus!
They offer residential clients in Winnipeg and across Canada for commercial clients. That’s a pretty wide coverage area!
We like their free in-home consultations six days a week (no Sundays, though!) because we find them very convenient. Their team will assess the window dimensions and assist you with the available colours and designs.
There’s a downside, though. They don’t have a physical store, which we believe can help customers personally check the quality and styles of blinds instead of looking at small samples.
On the upside, the clients we surveyed liked the quality of CV Blinds. The shop also provides installation and repair, which are highly useful since installing blinds can sometimes be bothersome, no?
Another aspect we like is their vast selection of blinds, including motorized ones. They carry brands such as Maxxmar Window Fashions, Shade-O-Matic, and Graber.
Furthermore, you can control the motorized blinds to open and close automatically via a mobile app. Plus, it keeps your home secure even when away—nice!
Lastly, we also like that they provide upgrading traditional chain blinds to motorized ones. While it may not work with all blinds, it’s still a good service!

Pros
- Offers in-store, in-home, and virtual consultations
- Has a showroom
- Provides home automation system integration
Cons
- Closed on Sundays
- Some complaints about the design consultation
Blind Ambitions has served residential and commercial clients in Winnipeg for over 30 years. We appreciate their free design consultations to help customers find the right one to match their homes.
Moreover, their consultations are available in-store, in-home, and virtually. We commend this feature because of its convenience for all customers.
However, we came across a few reports of unsatisfactory design consultation services. It was disheartening to hear this, especially considering their team had personally visited the homes to inspect the area.
The exciting part is they offer a wide range of blind selections, from faux wood to aluminum blinds. In addition to that, we like that they offer many types of shades, shutters, and drapes for more choices.
Plus, they carry different brands from various manufacturers. One of them is Hunter Douglas, one of North America’s largest window covering manufacturers.
Even better, they offer motorized blinds that can be controlled via a home automation system. It can be hard-wired or operated via tablet, voice, or remote—pretty cool, huh?
Another aspect worth noting is they have a showroom at Bill Knight Flooring on Century Street. It’s open from Mondays to Saturdays, so customers can visit on weekends, except Sundays, though!

Pros
- Sustainably sourced products
- Supports local businesses
- Provides solar panel integration
- Has a showroom
- Offers smart blinds
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Limited window covering selection
Soho Blinds supports local businesses by selling only locally manufactured products. We commend them for responsibly sourcing their products sustainably.
They specialize primarily in custom-made blinds, which we really like because of the freedom it gives clients. It’s like designing your own!
Moreover, clients can choose the fabric, hardware, and control system. It allows you to match the blinds perfectly to your home’s interior design.
Despite the limited selection of window coverings, they provide various blind types such as zebra, solar, roller, and motorized. The hardware is made from 100% aluminum, making them corrosion-resistant to lengthen its lifespan.
Plus, you can have your blinds made with an option to add valances. It can block out lights from the top of the windows without rolling down your blinds, which we think is useful—especially in the summer!
We think it’s pretty cool they offer smart blinds with voice-control capabilities. An exciting feature is you can sync the blinds with the weather app, enabling it to open in the morning to wake you!
What’s even better is solar panel integration for energy efficiency. The motor can last up to three months with just three hours of charging—it’s eco-friendly!
You can visit their showroom on weekdays. No weekends, sadly, so you might need to take time off from work.

Pros
- Offers Greenguard-certified blinds
- Makes Best for Kids-certified blinds
- Canadian-made products
- Has a showroom
Cons
In 1992, Blind-Shiners Custom Blinds and Draperies first opened in Winnipeg, offering traditional and motorized blinds. They are a BBB-accredited business, which we highly appreciate.
Notably, they provide Greenguard-certified blinds, ensuring their products have met or exceeded the standards for chemical emissions limitations. We admire them for this because it ensures the blinds are safe for indoor use.
In addition, they offer blinds with Best for Kids certification, assuring parents that their products are safe for young children. What’s more, their products are proudly Canadian-made!
As for their services, we were glad to learn about their offerings. They have shutters, draperies, custom windows, and even flooring for commercial establishments!
Plus, they offer to clean and repair your blinds, making them stand out from other stores in Winnipeg! We find these services convenient, too!
Moreover, we like their vast selection of custom blinds, giving clients more choices. They also provide custom valances to add a touch of aesthetic appeal!
Their showroom is open five days a week. Sadly, they don’t entertain clients on weekends except on an appointment basis on evenings and Saturdays.
Based on our client surveys, there were instances of miscommunication which led to some confusion. The good thing is Blind-Shiners Custom Blinds and Draperies have improved their customer service, as we’ve noted in their recent reviews!

Pros
- Has two locations
- Blinds have child safety lock systems
- Provides a financing option
Cons
- Some miscommunications issues
- Some reports of slow responses
Good Karma Interiors Inc. is highly accessible due to having two locations in Winnipeg, along Henderson Highway and St. James Street. One aspect we like is they act as a one-stop shop for home improvement.
Furthermore, they provide window covering, flooring, wallpapers, and various home accessories. It’s an ideal place for clients with new homes or redecorating, no?
We also like their vast selection of blinds for more choices—and to match your home’s design! Their products are fully customizable as well!
Additionally, we admire that they offer blinds with a child safety lock system, keeping the young ones safe! Ideal for families, eh?
Moreover, their zebra blinds come with a motorized operating system, allowing you to operate it with a remote without standing up from your slumber. We think it’s pretty fancy, too.
We also like their sunscreen blinds that are big enough to cover your patio! It’s refreshing to see that their product range extends beyond just window coverings.
An aspect that deserves mention is their financing options because not all blind stores offer flexible payment terms. By applying for this, you don’t need to shell out a large amount of money at once!
Sadly, our surveys showed that Good Karma Interiors Inc. had experienced miscommunication problems. We were also frustrated to discover the lengthy email exchanges over several weeks while trying to obtain the warranty.
