5 Best Dog Grooming Services in Edmonton for a Barktastic Cut

5 Best Dog Grooming Services in Edmonton for a Barktastic Cut

  • Qualifications - We chose dog groomers with years of experience in the field and patience to work with various coat types and temperaments.
  • Range of Services - We picked groomers offering a tonne of services so the clients can rely on one provider. We also looked at the quality of service and checked their successful record of happy clients.
  • Accessibility - We looked for providers available most of the week to cater to different schedules and those with good and quick communication in case an issue arises.
  • Rates - We based this on the competitive prices in the area and checked whether their price matches their quality of service.

Fur parents know dogs deserve royal treatment—they don’t even have to be corgis of the royal family. That’s exactly how we feel about our dogs because who wants matted and long fur that covers the beautiful eyes of our pups?

But looking for a dog groomer is not an easy task—we need to look for someone who will treat our dogs well and provide a tail-wagging experience (dogs need to know this is not a vet visit!).

So when we first had our puppy, we made it a mission to find only the best dog groomers we can trust. We asked family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers in dog parks.

So here’s the list we gathered for the tried and tested dog groomers who will make your pup look pawsitively stylish.

Oh My Dog Spa and Grooming is one of our picks because of how they treat pets coming into their doors. They have a we-treat-them-like-our-own policy, which is something we noticed during our visit.

Dogs will surely get pampered here because of their many services. Here’s what they offer: bath and tidy, bath and dry, grooming, de-shedding, de-matting, pawdicure, hand stripping, and ozone bath spa.

Basically, they have it all. But what stands out is the ozone bath spa because it’s like giving a royal treatment to your dog. It actually acts as a treatment for skin and hair conditions and also helps relieve stress.

Just a heads up so you don’t make the same mistake as ours: the ozone bath spa is only available in their North location at Mistatim Road. We can’t fault them for that, though, since this new location is probably more equipped for this.

From what we’ve seen, they’re really good at their job, regardless of which of the two locations it is. It doesn’t matter what the dog breed is because they’re well-equipped to groom any type of coat, from smooth to heavy to wavy.

We found their prices are also justified when you consider their quality of service—a full groom for a small breed starts at $78. It’s honestly fair, especially if you take into account how they treat furry animals.

Pros

  • Offers ozone bath spa
  • Provides dogs with a royal treatment
  • Has two Edmonton locations
  • Pricing is fair

Cons

  • Ozone bath spa is only available in the North branch

Incredible customer service

“I was so impressed the minute I walked in! I was greeted and made to feel like I was a long term client and this was my first visit!

The staff go above and beyond to ensure both owner and pet feel welcomed and comfortable!

My dog was groomed exactly how I wanted him!

This spa is one of the best I’ve ever been to!

I will be bringing my dog here from now on for all of his grooming needs!”

Dog treatment is top-notch

“Took my Bernedoodle here for the first time and they did a fantastic job grooming her. Complete transparency every step of the way, which was greatly appreciated. My dog seemed very happy and relaxed upon pick-up as well, so it was obvious she was treated very well. This is definitely our new go-to for all grooming services :)”

One of our favourite places to bring our furry friends is Priscillas Pet Emporium & Parlour because they’re a one-stop shop for all your doggie needs.

They do offer many grooming services like other pet parlour shops in Edmonton, but what makes them stand out among the rest is they also carry food and supplements. It does come in handy if you’re out of dog supplies.

As for their services, they offer full grooming, bath packages, de-shedding, de-matting, nail trim, and others. They even groom rabbits and guinea pigs, which is a rare sight.

It’s also worth noting that they provide a crate-free and force-free grooming service. We noticed that it helps dogs feel at ease, which is something that pet parents will be happy about.

We also noticed that while they accept walk-ins for selected services like nail trim, ear trim, de-shedding, and de-matting, we really don’t suggest it because there’s quite a bit of wait time. Instead, we recommend sticking to an appointment.

Price-wise, we love how affordable they are. A bath package for an extra small to small dog starts at $45 to $65, while a full groom for a giant dog costs $140 and up.

Pros

  • One-stop shop for grooming and food needs
  • Provides a force-free and crate-free grooming
  • Prices are reasonable

Cons

  • Walk-in services have long wait times

One of the reasons we like The Posh Paw Pet Spa is because of their expertise. In fact, their dog groomers attend seminars to ensure they’re up-to-date with anything new in the industry.

Plus, it’s incredible they also compete in dog grooming competitions. This definitely speaks volumes about their talent for making dogs look well put together.

Besides that, we were happy to learn that their staff knows pet first aid. Sometimes, accidents may happen, so knowledge of safety is definitely a must.

Here’s what they offer: grooming, bath, hand stripping, nail trim, teeth brushing, and creative colour.

We particularly like their luxury packages, which include all the necessary services so you can rest assured your dog will come out looking fresh and stylish.

Basically, their luxury bath includes hand blow dry, a full brush out, nail trim, nail file, and even ear cleaning. You can also spoil your furry friends with some additional services, like deep coat conditioning.

We found the prices are pretty fair as well, especially with all the package inclusions. An extra small pup’s luxury bath starts at $55 per hour, while an extra large dog costs $70 per hour.

But there’s a minimum fee of $16.50 for the grooming services. Still, the prices are within reach, even for our tight-budgeted friends.

Pros

  • Has all-inclusive packages
  • Reasonably priced services
  • Staff is trained in pet first aid
  • Staff enters dog grooming competitions

Cons

  • Grooming has a minimum fee

Makes pets feel comfortable

“One of the best customer service and dog grooming services for the area. My dog is usually nervous and anxious when visiting most places. The ladies at Posh Paw help him to feel comfortable. He is so happy and excited after a visit. He loves his spa days. Would recommend for nervous small dogs.”

Incredible grooming results

“I was able to get my boy in the same day for a bath and trim. It was his first grooming experience since being fully vaccinated. As much as I wanted the full goal look for him I appreciated the fact that they create a positive experience for the animals. The staff are friendly and experienced. I wasn’t expecting him to look this good! Overall I’m happy with the results even though I wasn’t sure what he would look like. Thank you Posh Paw Spa.”

The Pampered Puppy stays true to their name. Your pup will get the best treatment from their award-winning dog groomers, which is impressive because it shows their skills in grooming various types of coats.

Their groomers are also certified and have received professional training. Surely, that gives them an edge in the field.

We were thrilled to find out they have a kennel-free environment, which is awesome because they can provide a social and stress-free environment.

It’s also nice that they still have kennels available to dogs with behavioural issues, like anxiety and aggressiveness, for the safety of everyone.

Their offerings are mainly in packages, including the necessary grooming services. For example, the bath package already includes nail clipping, ear cleaning, ear hair trimming, and brushing.

Another thing we like is they’re very accessible. In fact, they have not one but three locations in Edmonton, and all offer the same grooming packages.

But their availability takes a hit since we noticed there’s a bit of a wait time despite having an appointment. Maybe it was just a really busy day, though.

It would also be nice if they added more transparency with their prices because it was a little inconvenient having to text them for the price list. Other than that, we still do like their service.

Pros

  • Has award-winning groomers
  • Groomers are certified
  • A kennel-free environment
  • Has three locations in Edmonton

Cons

  • Waiting time
  • Prices aren’t listed

Has lots of services

“Satisfied customer here. I definitely recommend this place, they offer plenty of services for your dogs and right for the price! Been bringing my dogs here for 3 years and so happy of the outcome yet never had any problems with grooming my dogs.🙂”

Incredible treatment of dogs

“Amazing place. The staff are kind, caring and super compassionate. They care for your fur babies like they are their own.

I have experienced first hand their compassion for both their 2 legged and 4 legged customers and have to say they are definitely a 10 out of 10. Highly recommend them for your pups spa day needs!!”

Sophie’s Pet Spa is a pretty straightforward shop. They have packages available that won’t have you panicking about which service your dog needs.

They have the usual dog grooming services, like baths, haircuts, ear cleaning, and nail trimming. They also have some add-ons in case you need something specific for your pup.

What we particularly like are their puppy intro service packages. It’s basically an introduction to dog grooming, where the groomer will ensure your puppy will have a positive experience—it can also help with future grooming days.

They even have creative grooming, which is just adding some colour to your dog’s fur. It’s safe for dogs, so no need to worry.

From what we’ve seen, their dog groomers really know how to handle pets. Our colleagues with small and big dogs had positive experiences here, and their furry friends even have their favourite groomers here.

We also noticed how the dog groomers took time to get to know their furry clients. It’s just unfortunate their availability is limited, needing about a week in advance for an appointment.

Regarding the prices, we found them pretty competitive in Edmonton. A dog makeover package for a 100 lb dog starts at $168, which is really fair considering the dogs come out looking spruced up.

Pros

  • Has puppy intro grooming services
  • Prices are fair
  • Takes time to know the dogs

Cons

  • At least a week for appointments

Good treatment of the dogs

Bee did amazing grooming 12 year old cavalier who’s nervous and usually has to take gabapentin for pain after a groom. not only did she not need it she also came out looking and smelling amazing. They worked with her and her bodies ability and I’m so so happy!

Good customer service

I took my Havanese puppy here for a bath and trim of his face and feet. It was his first time. They also clipped his nails. The salon was clean and tidy. The service was prompt. Jessica was friendly and professional. I love how Biscuit looked and smelled when I picked him up. 10/10 recommended!
