An important step before purchasing or selling a home is having it thoroughly inspected by a professional. That’s where home inspectors come into the picture as they ensure there are no major problems in a home.
They provide a comprehensive report after assessing the home’s foundation, exterior, roof, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, walls, ceiling, appliances, and other prevailing issues. Without them, we might make the mistake of moving into a damaged home!

Pros
- Open daily
- Services rural areas
- Quick turnaround time
- Provides easy-to-understand reports
Cons
- Doesn’t offer a warranty
- Limited selection of services
TrueView Home Inspections was established over seven years ago by Mark Manikel, who also serves as a certified home inspector. They cater to buyers and sellers, performing pre-purchase and pre-listing inspections—their services are limited, though.
Manikel and his team cover a wide area from Winnipeg to Kenora, an aspect we really like. Plus, we appreciate that they travel to rural areas for home inspections, including Steinbach, Portage La Prairie, Altona, Emerson, and Niverville.
One of our favourite aspects, aside from being available every day, is their quick service! You can get an appointment within a mere 36 hours!
In addition to that, they will provide the home inspection report within 24 hours, another thing that greatly impressed us. Considering the small team, that’s really fast!
Moreover, we really like their home inspection reports, which are written in a clear manner. For us, that’s really helpful, especially for first-time buyers and sellers.
In fact, their past clients mentioned how easy to understand their reports were. They were highly organized and detailed and came with recommendations for upgrades!
Moreover, we admire that TrueView Home Inspections will provide technical support to clients as long as they own the home. It’s a considerate service, no?
However, we were disappointed upon learning that they don’t offer a warranty, which is something to think about if you plan on hiring them.

Pros
- 30 years of experience
- Open daily
- Wide range of services
- Fast service
Cons
- Charges travel fees
What do we most like about K & S Home Inspections? Their incredible 30 years of experience in the industry!
On top of that, their offerings are pretty extensive for a home inspection service. Their services are pre-selling, pre-purchasing, walkthrough, new home warranty, and investigative inspection.
Their investigative inspection service is one of our favourites, lasting up to two hours. The team will help identify the root cause of a particular issue, from water leaks that no one can find to insulation issues.
Additionally, we found their new home inspection service valuable as it assists clients in identifying any issues in their newly constructed residences. It’s beneficial, too, especially before the builder’s warranty expires!
Yet another service we find impressive is their thermal imaging inspection, allowing you to uncover issues invisible to the naked eye. By using thermal imaging, home inspectors can see moisture behind walls and electrical equipment problems.
We need to give another praise to K & S Home Inspections for their highly accommodating service. They were available for any questions, sometimes even after the home inspection!
Furthermore, they were quick in sending the reports to their clients. Coupled with thorough and clear documentation, this adds to their commendable service!
They are also open daily, which means hiring them doesn’t need time off of work. That’s a plus!
But do note that they charge for mileage. While it’s only $0.68 per km for the round trip, it can add up if you live far away.

Pros
- Offers a variety of services
- Competitive prices
- Undergoes continuing education programs
Cons
- Doesn’t offer a warranty
- Closed on Sundays
Northstar Inspections is headed by two qualified home inspectors, David Sarlo & Jody Wood. We admire them for their continuous upskilling through education programs—it shows their dedication!
We like their wide array of services, such as pre-listing inspection, pre-purchasing inspection, mobile home inspection, situation investigation, and thermal imaging scan. That’s a lot, eh?
One of their standout services is mobile home inspection. Their expertise includes checking the areas not usually found in traditional homes, which we think is remarkable!
Another is their infrared thermal imaging scan, which will identify any suspect areas. This is pretty comprehensive as it includes all rooms, ceilings, walls, and even exterior walls!
We were pleased to learn about their competitive pricing, starting at $450 for single dwellings up to 2000 square feet. Opting to add thermal imaging to the home inspection is only $50, which we think is a good deal.
It is unfortunate, however, that Northstar Inspections doesn’t offer a home inspection warranty. That’s a drawback for us, as other home inspection services offer these for at least 30 days.
Another downside is they are not open every day. They are closed on Sundays, which we think can result in competition for Saturday appointments with other clients.

Pros
- Wide coverage area
- Open daily
- Offers a vast selection of services
- Has a 90-day warranty
Cons
- Service quality varies per location
- Warranty is not available in all locations
A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspections is a highly accessible service in Canada, with daily availability. They have several branches in Winnipeg, in the north and south area.
Their comprehensive services are worth noting, offering inspections for pre-sale, pre-offer, and renovation. Plus, they offer commercial and environmental inspection services! Impressive!
We were glad to discover they offer 4-point inspections, which center around the roof, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. As insurance companies usually require this for older homes, it’s a useful service!
Additionally, they provide maintenance inspection, which is not usually offered by other home inspectors in Winnipeg. We found this valuable so you can maintain your home and avoid possibly lowering its value!
Let’s not forget they offer mould surveys, another standout service. We appreciate that this includes air quality testing—we like how their home inspection includes things we cannot see!
An adorable (and totally necessary) feature is their monster free guarantee. Their home inspectors will check under beds, inside closets, and other potential monster hiding spots and even offer a certificate for your kid’s peace of mind!
Plus, they have a client protection program, which is a 90-Day limited structural and mechanical warranty. While we appreciate that, their warranty is not applicable in all cities they service, sadly.
Also, since A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspections has multiple branches owned by different people, the service quality will depend on the location.

Pros
- Highly accessible
- Open every day
- Offers various services
- Regularly has training sessions
Cons
- Service quality depends on location
- Some reports of overlooked issues
AmeriSpec Home Inspections of Winnipeg and Southern Manitoba is just one of the branches of AmeriSpec. They are highly accessible across the country!
The Winnipeg team is available every day, earning them another point for availability. There’s no need to take a day off from your busy work schedule!
We also like their services, from home inspections to indoor air quality evaluations. It’s pretty comprehensive for buyers and sellers!
Additionally, we like that they offer mould and radon testing to ensure no harmful particles are present in your home. They also conduct indoor air quality testing to make sure you and your family breathe clean air.
Their services don’t end with a home inspection report. They conveniently have a free web app called HomeScore, where you can rate and compare homes available on the market—a useful tool for home buyers!
Notably, their team undergoes regular training sessions throughout the year. For us, it shows their education and expertise—two important factors for home inspectors!
Plus, all home inspectors are trained at the AmeriSpec Academy to ensure proper and equal training. However, we were shocked and disappointed upon hearing reports of different service quality depending on the AmeriSpec Home Inspections branch.
We also sadly heard reports about missed issues during the home inspection. Thankfully, these occurrences don’t seem to happen often!
