Pros
- Open daily
- Has a wide range of service areas
- Each session runs for 90 minutes
- Provides affordable rates
- Offers pick-ups and drop-offs
- Has multilingual driving instructors
Cons
- Extra charge for North and Downtown Vancouver
- Has limited driving instructors
One of the positive aspects of enrolling in Kits Elite Driving School is its wide range of service areas. You can still enroll here even if you live outside of Vancouver because it caters to driving students in Surrey, Burnaby, and Richmond.
We definitely like that each session will run for 90 minutes, considering some driving schools in Vancouver only do 60 minutes. The more time you spend driving, the more you learn about it!
Additionally, there are multiple packages available. For us, this is convenient because it offers options to beginners.
Moreover, the basic package starts at a reasonable rate of $720. That already has seven sessions with 90 minutes each – affordable, right?
Plus, they do pick-ups and drop-offs for only an additional $10.
Overall, we think Kits Elite Driving School is a good option for new drivers, especially those without available friends or family, to drive them to the location. It’s cheap, too, since they service cities outside of Vancouver.
However, you should know that they charge an extra $10 for those in North and Downtown Vancouver. So, that’s something to consider if you need to get picked up from those locations.
Our team was happy to learn that they have cars with dual controls. It’s one of the most important factors we consider in terms of safety. As a driving newbie, you won’t have to worry about dangerous situations because of it.
On the downside, we must mention that they have limited driving instructors. We think this is due to them having a smaller team.
Nonetheless, their instructors are great and are known for being incredibly patient and very detail-oriented, from what we’ve seen. Many of their students we spoke with felt safe and confident while on the road!
We also think it’s convenient that they have multilingual instructors that speak English, Persian, and Turkish. For us, this is admirable since it gives newcomers to Canada a chance to learn to drive comfortably.
Furthermore, they’re open every day, which means more slots are available. This is a huge plus for those who need flexibility in their scheduling!

Pros
- Open daily
- Has reasonable rates
- Provides free pick-ups and drop-offs
- Has a bilingual instructor
Cons
- Doesn’t do Downtown Vancouver pick-ups
- Limited instructors
Another Vancouver driving school on our list offering reasonable rates is SenSen Driving School. What made them stand out for us is their affordability!
For only $90, you can have a one-on-one in-car session for 60 minutes. That’s a very competitive rate if you ask us–and it already includes free pick-ups and drop-offs.
Moreover, we like that they offer a road test package for only $180. Plus, it has a warm-up session for 45 minutes, just to make sure the student is prepared.
By the way, they don’t do pick-ups in Downtown Vancouver due to traffic. So, that’s something to consider if you live in the area.
During our research, we found that they upgraded their car to a hybrid model with a reversing camera!
It’s pretty neat, considering most cars on the market have these installed already. Don’t forget the easy reverse parking!
Additionally, it has dual controls. That’s one of the best aspects, in our opinion, because you won’t get too nervous about bumping something while driving.
One of their driving instructors speaks English and Cantonese. This is beneficial for immigrants in the area, in our opinion.
Furthermore, many students we spoke with like them because they are calm and informative. Those are two essential qualities in a driving instructor to ensure the student won’t panic on the road.
On the downside, we noted SenSen Driving School has limited instructors and cars available.
Due to this, you may need to book months in advance to get your preferred schedule. Good thing SenSen is open everyday!

Pros
- Open daily
- Has many instructors available
- Has multilingual instructors
- Services a wide range of areas
- Offers many packages
Cons
- Only accepts package refunds after the first class
- Minor issues with some instructors’ approach
Our team liked Atlas Driving School due to its years of experience in the industry. We think it’s impressive that it has been around for over 20 years!
Moreover, it has grown throughout the years and now has 15 driving instructors! That’s incredible because it means many people can hire them due to availability—and they’re open daily!
Another aspect that we found impressive is that students can get a driving instructor based on their preferred language. In our books, this is perfect for immigrants!
Other than English, they also speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Turkish, Vietnamese, Hindi, Urdu, Dari, Punjabi, and Farsi – whew!
It’s also a plus that Atlas Driving School services a wide range of areas, including the unpredictable traffic of Downtown Vancouver. Apart from that, it also accepts students from the surrounding areas, including Surrey, Langley, White Rock, and Coquitlam.
We were pretty stoked when we learned that it offers a bunch of packages. It has options available for beginners and experienced ones who just need a refresher course.
Furthermore, it has a package with 50 lessons for one hour each – great for novice drivers! It’s also worth noting that these lessons include pick-ups and drop-offs.
However, we noticed that Atlas Driving School only accepts package refunds after conducting the first class. We thought this was a bit odd, considering unexpected situations may occur for the students.
Sadly, we heard differing opinions about Atlas Driving School’s instructors. Some were unhappy with their instructors and ended up asking for a different one.
Because of this, we suggest informing the company right away if you want to switch to a different instructor that matches your preferred teaching approach.

Pros
- A Top Choice Awards winner
- Has new and fully-equipped vehicles
- Offers many packages
- Female drivers are available
Cons
- Doesn’t offer pick-ups and drop-offs
- Has expensive rates
- Only drives automatic cars
For over 28 years, Fraser Driving School has been teaching Vancouver residents defensive driving. It has even been recognized for its quality service, including being a six-year Top Choice Awards winner!
We highly appreciate the fully-equipped vehicles that are useful for each student. These are new and well-maintained to ensure safe lessons.
One of the aspects we like is the various packages available. Not only do novice drivers get to enroll here, but also experienced drivers who want to drive Class 4 approved vehicles.
Furthermore, it’s a great way to practice your driving skills if you want to start a taxi or car rental service. You can even learn how to drive a limousine or ambulance here!
But keep in mind that they have expensive rates compared to other driving schools in Vancouver. Most sessions only last one hour, so the prices were quite shocking.
Another drawback we found is Fraser Driving School doesn’t offer pick-ups and drop-offs.
It’s also important to know that all lessons will start and end at their office. Good thing they’re near a Skytrain station!
You should also know they only drive automatic cars, which is unfortunate for students who prefer manual cars. We found the lack of flexibility a bit dissatisfying since they’ve been in the industry for a long time.
On the bright side, female students can choose female drivers if they prefer. For us, this is a commendable service because their female students can feel at ease.

Pros
- Has affordable rates
- Meet-up at SkyTrain station is available
- Has a computer driving simulator
- Driving instructors speak Chinese and Tagalog
Cons
- Has limited pick-up areas
- Doesn’t have manual cars
- Physical location is in Burnaby
The positive thing about RainCity Driving School that made us include it on our list is its affordable prices. It’s one of the cheapest we’ve seen during our research for the best driving schools available in Vancouver.
It offers a 60-minute lesson for only $75 + GST. That’s less than a hundred dollars, which definitely shocked us!
Additionally, there’s a 90-minute lesson for $150 + GST, including pick-up at your preferred location. But if you live near a SkyTrain station, you can meet with the instructor there and save almost $40!
Furthermore, you can do a computer driving simulator if you feel too nervous to start driving immediately. It’s a great warm-up, so you can gauge your reaction time while driving.
Although you can choose from various packages, some of them don’t include pick-ups and drop-offs. So, we think that’s a factor worth considering, especially since there are limited pick-up areas.
But the SkyTrain station meet-ups are convenient since their office is located in Burnaby. So, people from Vancouver and Burnaby can enroll in RainCity Driving School since the two cities are just half an hour away from each other.
Did you know they have driving instructors who speak Chinese and Tagalog? That’s a plus in our books because it will certainly benefit some immigrants and foreigners in Vancouver!
We also appreciate how helpful they were with the schedules. They get booked fast, so booking weeks in advance is recommended.
Good thing they’re open daily so that you can get a weekend driving session!
Although, a minor drawback we found is they only teach automatic cars. If you prefer to learn manual, you may need to look at other driving schools in Vancouver and Burnaby.
