5 Best Handyman Services in Toronto for Your Unfinished DIYs
When the wife says, “Assemble the bookshelf” or “Install the child safety locks,” husbands tend to give a quick nod. Let’s be real here: we’re not actually doing it as soon as we should have.
One time, I came home and saw a man—and no, it’s not what you think. It took me so long to finish my chores that my wife finally gave up and hired a handyman.
And frankly, it was the best money we ever spent. We should all have an on-call handyman to do all these repairs and upgrades with actual quality workmanship.
So, if you’re looking for a handyman in Toronto, check out the list we gathered and see if they’re the one you need!

Odd Job Handyman Services stands out in our books because they’ve been around for more than a decade. And over the years, they’ve managed to grab awards that show their excellent skills—we don’t have to wonder why they’ve succeeded.
For instance, they received the HomeStars Best of Award, and no, it wasn’t a fluke because they received it six times. On top of that, they were the Diamond Winner of the Toronto Star Readers’ Choice 2019.
We found that they’re experts at various tasks as well, offering carpentry, repairs, painting, and more. They’re even available for small and large projects for residential and commercial clients.
Furthermore, we learned that their consistently good workmanship is due to their training. Each handyman gets additional training at the Odd Job Academy that teaches them to learn new skill sets.
It’s just a bummer that their regular hours don’t include weekends, which means additional fees on those days. Still, we appreciate that they work on weekends for emergencies.
Pros
- Award-winning service
- Handymen go through additional training
- Ideal for small and large tasks
Cons
- Additional fees on weekends
Efficient and effective service
“We used Oddjob to install a light fixture – service was very professional and efficient, they fit us in right away to accommodate quick timing as well. The handyman did an excellent job and took great care to ensure the fixture was centered on our table. We will definitely be repeat customers!”

Responsive and transparent
“I had a tricky job with a few windows that needed repairing– some of the repairs were significant. The technician who came to help us did a great job communicating what was wrong with each window and how it needed to be repaired. He did good work and I appreciated the office’s transparency when additional parts needed to be ordered to finish the job. The office was also excellent at communication and prompt responses in scheduling. Payment was super easy. I would recommend them and plan to use them if I need anything in the future.”

Fix-It Friend is a small handyman service in Toronto—but they’re not small when it comes to their quality of service.
They were Platinum Winner of the Toronto Star Readers’ Choice Award 2020 and one of the Best in Toronto by Industry Oversight in 2023.
It’s also convenient that they have a vast coverage area even though they mainly work downtown. It’s just unfortunate they’re closed on weekends.
As an all-rounder, they can do anything, from simple wall hanging to precise welding repairs. You can count on them for repairs, plumbing, and various upgrades around the house or in your place of business.
Budget-wise, we found out that they’re not the most affordable. There’s a minimum fee of $250 for a project and additional items cost $150.
Even though their rates are up there if you compare them to others on our list, they’re an investment because of their top-notch work.
Pros
- Works with residential and commercial clients
- Award-winning service
- Works on small and large jobs
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Prices are higher; has a minimum fee
Accommodating and fast service
“Jeremy at Fix-It Friend was awesome! We needed some window screens fixed and that was quickly done. Then we found out he could also fix our toilet, along with another issue in the bathroom – all done in the same visit. Friendly, fast and great service.
Thanks again for all the help, Jeremy!”

Efficient and effective
“I can not say enough good things about my experience with Fix-It-Friend. I needed to replace several rotten boards on an elevated deck, but the project ended up being much bigger than I thought when structural issues were discovered. Jeremy communicated very clearly throughout the project. He and his assistant were courteous and respectful of my home, showed up on time, and did a remarkably careful and thorough job. The deck looks better than it ever did. Scheduling and invoicing also could not have been easier. Jeremy has set the gold standard for what home repair should be.”

Toronto’s Handld (pronounced as hand-led) makes booking a handyman a piece of cake. Communicating with them was super smooth as we immediately received a response to our inquiry.
Each handyman, or Handlr as they call them, goes through the Handld Standard Operating Procedures. It’s an extensive training program that allows each handyman to be super skilled for the job.
At the end of the training, each Handlr can expertly handle repairs, maintenance, furniture assembly, and more. Plus, they’re also vetted to ensure that only trustworthy people will come into your home.
However, we found that they mainly work on residential properties, so they’re not ideal for some commercial sites.
We’re glad to find that they don’t shy away from any project, though. They even completed a furniture assembly for a fully furnished 16-unit building in just two days!
Lastly, we appreciate that you get real-time upgrades with any project. You can even communicate with a Handld Operator to keep you informed.
Pros
- Quick booking system
- All handymen are vetted and trained
- Provides real-time upgrades
Cons
- Not ideal for commercial sites
Smooth process
“I had a great experience with the Handld team. The booking process is easy and simple. My request was to replace and install an over the range microwave. I had a few problems with ordering the incorrect size microwave but the Handld team were great in finding solutions for the item to fit.
The payment process is also super easy. Thank you for a great job!”

Great value for money
“I contacted Handld to perform a few small jobs at my place before moving out – removing netting from my balcony, dismantling a curtain rod from the wall, and filling some holes. They responded very quickly and I was able to book them on a day and time that were convenient to me (on the weekend!). I was also impressed by their affordable pricing – most handyman services I’ve encountered charge more.
On the day itself, Angelo the handyman let me know he was ahead of schedule and could arrive two hours early if I wanted. When he arrived he got the job done quickly and professionally, provided expert advice on some questions I had, and was friendly and courteous.
All in all, I’d say that Handld offers outstanding value for money. I’ll definitely be using their services again!”

Express Handyman is a passion-fueled business because the owner started his love for fixing things as a young boy. Now, they cater to residential and commercial clients, making them accessible.
We do have to note that they’re not available on weekends, which is a setback. But they balance it out by catering to a wide coverage area, from downtown to the suburbs.
They do many odd jobs here and there, from quick fixes to furniture assembly to exterior maintenance.
We appreciate that they’re also equipped for emergency repairs, which they offer to commercial properties.
However, they have limited availability because they don’t take multiple jobs at once. On the upside, they can commit 100% to their clients because they won’t be too busy.
Even though we found they don’t offer hourly rates, they managed to maintain fair pricing. They even provide free estimates and customized quotes based on cost-effective solutions.
Pros
- Services the suburbs
- Available for emergency repairs
- Provides cost-effective solutions
- Prices are fair
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Limited availability
Responsive and punctual
“I cannot say enough about Johan and Express Handyman! Not only was the response to my inquiry, with an estimate, very quick but so was Johan’s ability to schedule me into his week with a short turnaround. Additionally, he was very easy to communicate with, arrived exactly on time, and worked very hard to complete and perfect all required installations and tasks. Would highly recommend this company and will absolutely call on Johan in the future. Thanks for everything!”
