“I contacted AHS to help me with an exterior renovation project that included the replacement of my asphalt driveway, installing a new composite deck and frame to replace a poorly built wood deck and frame from three years ago, path lighting and steps, tree planting, the power washing of a stone deck and front walkway, and replacing joint sand with Romex joint sand.

Matt was my sales contact, and he was a pleasure to work with as he came by my house several times to discuss the project and help me with my decisions. There was never any pressure from him to choose any one thing over any other thing, and I appreciated his down to earth style.

Darlene was the designer, and she was excellent. She collaborated with me on the designs and produced terrific options that were wonderful. She was always open to suggestions and her designs were top notch.

Renat was my project manager and communication with him was terrific. He was always available to discuss the project, and he was open to both providing suggestions and receiving feedback. He was on site often to instruct the workers and to make sure that everything followed the designs.

One of the most experienced deck builders we found is Hickory Dickory Decks, a service that has been around since 1987. Overall, they’ve built over 35,000 decks—a very impressive number!

Plus, they’re the largest composite/PVC deck builders in Canada. Overall, we think their track record is outstanding!

Hickory Dickory Decks has four branches in the GTA: Toronto East, Toronto West, North York, and Scarborough. Frankly, we really like that they’re all very experienced in designing outstanding decks.

But we noticed that when it comes to businesses with multiple branches, the service quality tends to depend on the location. We saw that here when we spoke to previous clients, who complained about unresponsiveness and project delays.

On a positive note, these guys have made rectifications regarding these issues. They’ve also been praised for their good workmanship and for their competitive prices.

What we like about Mr General Contractor is they’re highly experienced in building. After all, they are a construction company, which makes them reliable if you’re having major renovations.

Their deck contractors have over two decades of experience, which gives us confidence in their work. And based on what we’ve seen, these guys are super capable of building sturdy decks.

It’s also cool they provide over 20 different deck designs. But we like that you can still opt for custom designs that suit your style.

The clients we spoke with also wanted to highlight the smooth communication with the deck builders. They were easy to reach and provided tips when choosing the best materials.

The issue we have is that some projects didn’t finish within the timeframe. While that was unfortunate, we’re glad it didn’t happen often.

Lastly, we appreciate that they will hold their quotations for 30 days. That’s quite long since others only do a week.
