Peter Ciuffa, founder of Pasta Boy Peter, is a lover of food and travel. That’s a quality that earned him a tonne of cooking experience. We think it’s noteworthy that he has cooked for the Osteria Savio Volpe and hosted TLN’s Little Italys.
But his acting gig isn’t what piqued our interest. It’s his love for Italian food—hence the name Pasta Boy Peter!
Plus, he offers public and private cooking classes in Vancouver, whether in his studio, at your home, or at work! We like that he can also accommodate up to ten individuals, which is ideal for parties.
Overall, Pasta Boy Peter is all about authentic Italian cooking. He even shares traditions and secrets handed down through generations in his family!
One thing we think was worth the money is learning how to make pasta from scratch, using his mamma’s recipe! Like being part of a family, no?

A minor downside we found is he only focuses on Italian cuisine. If you want your taste buds to travel far and wide, you may need to check other private cooking classes on our list.
On the bright side, we love that Pasta Boy Peter’s private cooking classes are pretty hands-on! He will check every student, ensuring they’re doing it right!

From our perspective, The Dirty Apron will make you feel like a world-renowned chef—think Gordon Ramsay without the fiery temper.
Why’s that? They specialize in three-course meal cooking classes, complete with plating. On our end, it’s not just about the taste but the presentation!
We like that they offer private cooking classes for all ages: kids, teens, and adults. But the best part is they have a kids-only class, and we believe teaching them at a young age can bring out their passion for cooking!
Moreover, we think it’s fun that their private team-building cooking class adds an element of competition. Teams will race against the clock to cook the most delectable dish! It’s like a cooking show, right?
It’s worth mentioning they provide wine for their private cooking class (which accommodates up to 22 people!). For us, it adds a laid back atmosphere, especially for adult cooking classes.
Even better, they offer virtual cooking classes for those unable to visit their studio. You can opt to have ingredients delivered or purchase them on your own! Convenient, eh?
Another aspect we like about The Dirty Apron is how they satisfy our worldly food cravings. They offer various cuisines, from the East to the West!
We also think it’s great that they offer various cooking class options. There’s a meatless and a food-wine pairing cooking class, ideal for date nights.
However, gastronomic delight comes with gastronomic prices. The Dirty Apron comes with a hefty price tag, starting at $4,000 for 22 people—that’s $181 per person.
Nevertheless, their availability impressed us. They offer numerous private cooking classes throughout the week, including Saturdays.

For us, The Gourmet Warehouse acts as a one-stop destination for food lovers. They’ve been around since 1998, offering cookware, specialty ingredients, and cooking classes!
Caren McSherry, chef and author of seven cookbooks, is the owner. She’s highly experienced and had global training in London, Bangkok, and New York! Impressive credentials, eh?
The best part? McSherry has run Canada’s longest-running cooking school, which started when she opened Caren’s Cooking School back in 1978. She now moved it to The Gourmet Warehouse!
Their services, which are hands-on and demonstration cooking classes, are customizable. The flexibility earns them points in our book!
Moreover, we were happy with the menu personalization. We think it’s fancy because it includes four-course meals: the appetizer, soup/salad, main course, and dessert! It’s ideal if you need to impress someone, eh?
In addition, we like that you can have a private cooking class as a party! The Gourmet Warehouse can accommodate up to 30 people!
All ages are welcome–a positive aspect! They offer hands-on kids cooking classes, from prepping to plating!
Another offering we like is they offer specialized cooking classes. Want to learn how to cook a holiday family feast? They have that!
Plus, these specialized cooking classes come in different price points as a budget-friendly option. You can opt for these if you don’t have many people you can go with for the group classes.

From our perspective, Louis Gervais Fine Foods & Catering is who you’d call for any food needs. Aside from catering and turning into a boutique venue by night, they extend their talents to cooking classes! Like an all-in-one place!
We appreciate that they welcome anyone who wants to learn to cook! It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or a beginner!
So, what are their cooking classes? They have corporate team building and culinary parties! We commend the instructors since they’re capable of handling big classes.
While we appreciate that, that’s also where their limitation lies. There aren’t a lot of private cooking class options, unfortunately.
Positively speaking, they’re available for big groups. Their cooking classes are ideal for groups of eight to sixteen. But they can accommodate up to 25.
Moreover, we think their private cooking classes are ideal for parties and events. Need a fun and unique birthday party? You can book a cooking class!
Another aspect worth noting is their menu. Louis Gervais Fine Foods & Catering offers regional menus for their classes, which focus on fancy three-course dinners!
Furthermore, we like how knowledgeable their chefs are with various cuisines. They are a catering company, after all, which we think helps with their unique dishes, from flavours to plating!
As for their rates, they charge $2,500 per group. What’s great is that you can save more money with a big group.
But the cost can be relatively high if you have a small group in a private cooking class, like three to four individuals. So, they may not be the most suitable option if there aren’t a lot of people.
