How We Picked

Cost – We looked into prenatal massage clinics in Calgary that offer reasonable pricing per session and the best value for money.
Qualifications – Since your health and body will be in the massage therapist’s hands, we evaluated their experiences, credentials, and training.
Quality of Service – We looked into the quality of customer service, techniques, friendliness, and post-massage practices to ensure you will reap the benefits of the service.

Maggie’s Therapeutic Massage, located in Calgary, Alberta, is a well-regarded clinic founded and led by Suzhen “Maggie” Shu, a distinguished 3000 Hour Registered Massage Therapist with over a decade of specialized experience.

The clinic offers a variety of therapeutic massage services with a strong focus on prenatal massage, aiming to provide comprehensive and personalized care for expecting mothers.

Maggie and her team of Registered Massage Therapists are highly qualified, with extensive training and experience, particularly in prenatal massage.

We think this ensures that clients receive knowledgeable and safe care tailored to their specific needs during pregnancy.

The clinic employs advanced massage techniques that are specifically designed to address the unique challenges and discomforts associated with pregnancy, such as lower back pain, swelling, and stress.

The clinic operates on a holistic wellness philosophy, viewing massage therapy as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.

We like how this perspective helps clients achieve not only physical relief but also emotional and mental well-being.

We’ve heard about other reviews and they all highlight the exceptional quality of service provided by the therapists, with many clients praising their professionalism, skill, and the profound positive impact on their well-being!

Pros

  • Convenient location
  • Has multiple branches
  • Provides a calming environment
  • Uses eco-friendly products
  • Wide range of services

Cons

  • Some appointment issues
  • Parking difficulty during rush hours

Leela Eco Spa offers a full-service eco-friendly wellness experience. In addition, they commit to using organic products to promote sustainability within the industry.

We understand that choosing the right location before going to a massage clinic is essential. That’s why we like that they have seven branches in Calgary, so you can choose the one closest to you.

The Bridgeland location is conveniently close to other shops and restaurants. But make sure to come early during busy hours because it may be a tad difficult to find street parking near the spa.

As for the products they use, we’re glad they have eco-friendly ingredients. Furthermore, they use natural products, ensuring you won’t inhale harmful chemicals while getting a prenatal massage.

We also like their commitment to sustainability by using plastic-free and vegan laundry strips and paperless intake forms.

Now, for their prenatal massage, we’re glad to know they provide a full-body pregnancy pillow for tummy support while lying on your side. We highly appreciate the extra care they provide for pregnant women.

You can choose between a 60 or 90-minute prenatal massage. Leela Eco Spa also has a membership program that offers discounts and unlimited uses.

On the downside, they were issues regarding their scheduling system. Some clients came to the boutique only to be told there was no record of an appointment despite multiple confirmations.

On a positive note, Leela Eco Spa’s massage therapists gave a calming and comfortable service. The clients we talked with liked their therapist’s pressure technique which gave them an overall relaxing experience.

Moreover, the Bridgeland location has a clean and soothing environment. Each room is neat, and the products they sell are organised and available for purchase.

Pros

  • Focuses on parents massage
  • Offers kid’s massage
  • Has an activity area
  • Team is registered massage therapists
  • Provides counselling

Cons

  • Opens late on Mondays
  • Currently has one location only

A locally owned business, Mama Massage specialises in giving parents a chance to unwind. They offer various services with a highly skilled and trained team of massage therapists.

We like the customised process for each client. For example, their prenatal massage will accommodate your shape and posture for a safe and comfortable experience.

In addition to that, they have special cushioning systems allowing you to lie down safely for the massage. They also have cushions to support your growing belly if you need to lie down on your side.

They also have kid’s massage to help lower stress levels from everyday activities. Finally, if you’re uncomfortable leaving your child with a stranger, we want to mention that parents are allowed inside the room.

It’s worth highlighting that the team at Mama Massage has met the 2200-hour requirement for all registered massage therapists (RMT).

You can freely choose the therapist you want online, complete with their specialisation and credentials. There is an easy booking system as well.

A slight drawback is they only have one location at the moment. It might be a bit inconvenient for parents with active children if they live on the other side of Calgary.

But once you’re there, you won’t have to worry about finding a parking spot since there’s a large parking area. There are also many different shops to visit.

In addition, there are counselling services for children, teens, and families. You can choose in-person or telehealth consultations depending on your family’s preferences.

The last thing we want to add is Mama Massage’s play and activity area. They have a room full of activities for children so moms and dads can relax during the massage.

Pros

  • Competitive prices
  • Customised belly tables
  • Easy cancellation policy

Cons

  • Slight parking difficulty
  • Location is a bit inconvenient

A full-service massage place, The Centre Massage & Wellness offers competitive prices to ensure their clients won’t have to burn their pockets for an hour of relaxation.

The massage clinic’s location is close to a residential area, which is great if you live there. However, potential clients may find the lack of nearby shops and restaurants to be a bit inconvenient.

By the way, there are many parking areas near the clinic. However, it can be tricky to find a nearby spot because they are right across a residential area.

We appreciate the highly skilled staff who had training in pregnancy massage. They are also trained to use the pregnancy massage equipment properly to ensure you are safe and comfortable.

They have belly tables, with body pillows and cushions to make sure you’re in a comfortable position while having your prenatal massage. Past clients liked that it was great for laying on the stomach.

Moreover, the therapist will ask you for any sore spots and pressure areas to accommodate your changing body.

Another thing we appreciate is the consideration of their cancellation policy for pregnant women. There are no fees if you cancel at the last minute due to labour and delivery.

In addition to that, there are no fees for a 24-hour cancellation notice. If you feel any sickness, they will cancel the appointment at once, and there is a 7-day wait for rebooking.

They also have a great booking system. We haven’t heard of any complaints regarding appointment issues.

Lastly, The Centre Spa & Wellness has a professional team, but they have different prenatal techniques. Due to this, we recommend choosing your massage therapist carefully to find the right one for you.

Pros

  • Has accredited practitioners
  • Easy booking system
  • Conveniently located in downtown Calgary
  • Offers comprehensive plans

Cons

  • Credit card information is required upon booking
  • Lack of prenatal massage equipment details

With a combined 50 years of experience, Why Knot! has carefully selected accredited practitioners to ensure their clients have the best massage experience. In addition, their team has different specialisations to suit their client’s needs.

We think you’ll be happy with their convenient location in downtown Calgary. In addition, there are different modes of transportation in the area.

There’s also a tonne of shops and restaurants nearby for a quick bite post-massage. We believe many clients will appreciate the practicality of the location.

A drawback is they lack details and photos of their prenatal massage equipment. We believe pregnant women need to know these in advance before booking a schedule to ensure safety.

As for their services, the practitioners do comprehensive and specialised plans per client. We appreciate this because you won’t have to worry about only having a standard massage.

What’s great is the representative will help you find the right therapist for you. You only need to talk about your concerns and preferences, and they will help you make an informed choice.

Moreover, Why Knot! has an easy booking system where you can quickly choose your preferred massage therapist. Their prices start at $45 for 90 minutes.

However, you should know that you must input credit card details upon booking. The reason for this is the wasted time due to multiple no-shows.

Additionally, they won’t charge your card unless you fail to appear on your appointment date. Although we understand this, some clients weren’t comfortable with the current process.

Pros

  • Has licensed massage therapists
  • Offers tailored massage plans
  • Gives thorough consultation
  • Has infant massage

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Booking system issues

Located in Midnapore, South West Massage and Wellness focuses on giving clients tailored massage plans that suit their specific needs. Their goal is to reduce your stress through quality services.

We appreciate their available extended hours. But, unfortunately, they aren’t open on Sundays for the usual day off.

Another thing we appreciate is the website’s easy booking process. You can choose your preferred therapist and check their availability.

A slight problem is some booking system issues where some clients experienced cancellations and change of therapist without their knowledge.

On a different note, we like the thorough consultation for pregnant women to check their health status. We believe this can significantly help ease the client’s mind on their safety.

Furthermore, we think this information is essential to reduce any stress a pregnant mother is experiencing due to the growing tummy and changing body.

Further, they have licensed massage therapists ensuring to use only proper techniques on your body. They also use soft and non-invasive methods to ease tense muscles on sore spots.

Post-massage care is also essential because it gives you an idea of how to properly care for your body when you get home. That is why we’re glad to hear the massage therapists at South West will advise you on helpful post-massage exercises.

Finally, they also offer infant massage to promote development through touch stimulation. Again, we believe this is a good choice for parents who need help with the infant’s sensory development.
