Pros
- Has expertise with surgery and oncology
- Always punctual during appointments
- Very accommodating and personable
Cons
- Long booking wait times
Dr. Martin Duffy diagnoses and treats urinary and stress incontinence, adrenal gland infections, and urinary tract infections.
He also examines patients with ailments, such as prostate cancer, bladder infections and urethral stones.
We are impressed with his long-running expertise in performing successful surgery and oncology.
In addition, Dr. Duffy has gained the trust of many patients that come back to him for other urological problems. Some of his patients have been seeing him for over 18 years.
For instance, Dr. Duffy has successfully operated on and removed multiple cancerous kidney tumours from his patients.
We also heard that most patients have positive postoperative outcomes, greatly benefiting their overall lifestyles.
Another thing we appreciate is his punctuality during appointments or scheduled surgeries, especially for patients wherein time is of the essence.
On the contrary, we observed that patients would have to wait for months before being able to book an appointment with Dr. Duffy. And we think the longer patients wait, the more anxiety this causes.
Fortunately, we noticed he is very accommodating and compassionate with his patients to help them ease their nerves.
Lastly, we also like that he takes his time to explain and answer everything to lessen any doubts and anxiety in the patients’ minds. His thorough approach allows him to ensure that everything is in order.

Pros
- Founder of CAMP
- Has performed many successful surgeries
- Compassionate with his patients
Cons
- Can improve on communication
- Long wait times
Dr. Geoffrey Gotto is a Urologic Oncologist at Southern Alberta Urologic Institute, specializing in prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer. He also has expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
We think it’s noteworthy that he is the founder and medical director of the Clinic for Advanced and Metastatic Prostate Cancer (CAMP) at the Prostate Cancer Centre. He is also the Principal Investigator for several clinical trials in advanced prostate cancer.
These credentials and breakthroughs are impressive for us, and we think these make him more reliable in providing efficient urological treatments.
He has also remarkably saved many lives from life-threatening cancer tumours and effectively treated multiple urological problems.
Unfortunately, his background and reputation have made it more difficult for patients to secure an appointment and surgery with him. We noted that some patients wait over six months and still do not hear anything from the clinic.
With that said, we believe the clinic needs to improve communication, especially with patients on the waitlist, to keep them updated on their status.
We also think their responses are disappointing since many patients only end up hearing voicemails when they contact the clinic.
Finally, we admire his compassion and empathy towards his patients. He keeps in touch with past patients to see how they’re doing and calms the anxiety of those up for surgery.

Pros
- Fast response times
- Actively involved in clinical research and medical education
- Has co-created Vesia – Alberta Bladder Centre
Cons
- Some reports of rude behaviour
Dr. Richard Baverstock completed his residency training at the University of British Columbia in 2003.
With over 18 years of experience, Dr. Baverstock continues to specialize in male urethral stricture disease and incontinence management.
It’s also noteworthy that he has served as the Director of Quality Assurance for the Calgary section of urology and has been an elected representative to the Alberta Medical Association.
Moreover, he is actively involved in clinical research and medical education in urology. So we believe he keeps up on recent discoveries and technological advancements involving lower urinary tract issues and reconstructive surgery.
We also learned that he is a co-creator of Vesia – Alberta Bladder Centre which specializes in helping patients with lower urinary tract and pelvic floor dysfunction.
As for his skills, we noted multiple accounts of successful operations and have also done corrective procedures to fix botched surgeries done by the prior urologists.
However, we heard reports that some patients had a negative experience due to Dr. Baverstock’s rude behaviour during consultations. Some shared that he made unprofessional comments, making the patients feel uncomfortable.
On the bright side, we like that the clinic is more responsive than the others on this list. Furthermore, the staff is known to return calls promptly and answer all concerns thoroughly.

Pros
- Chief of surgery at the Rockyview hospital
- Has excellent bedside manners
- Provides phone consultations
- Offers effective aftercare services
Cons
- Some reports of rude staff
Dr. Gregory Kozak is an experienced urology specialist in Calgary. It is noteworthy that he has served as the president of the urology section of the Alberta Medical Association.
Currently, he is the chief of surgery at the Rockyview hospital and the deputy section lead for urology in Calgary. We think his background speaks a lot about his leadership roles and experience in the field.
We are also impressed that Dr. Kozak started the robotics program at the Rockyview hospital.
This advancement is notable since it has helped his clinical focus on urologic robotic surgery, kidney surgery, and prostate surgery. And on the role of MRI in the management of the prostate to determine the potential spread of cancer.
Notably, he performed multiple operations, which resulted in little to no ongoing complications. For instance, a patient had no issues for over 12 years after Dr. Kozak completed a prostatectomy.
Another thing we like is the clinic’s aftercare services, such as maintaining follow-ups and other medications needed — ensuring a smooth road to recovery.
On the downside, we have noted some complaints regarding the rude behaviour of some staff, which adds more stress to the patients.
Fortunately, Dr. Kozak has excellent bedside manners and helps his patients be more comfortable and confident with the procedure. Also, we appreciate that he is thorough and attentive in answering questions, even over a phone consultation.

Pros
- Specializes in adult and pediatric urology
- Performs thorough tests and assessments
- Informative and friendly
Cons
- Booking difficulties
Dr. Bryce Weber specializes in adult and pediatric urology compared to most on this list.
He also diagnoses and treats stress incontinence, kidney stones, urinary bladder, UTI, and prostate cancer.
What we like the most about Dr. Weber is his informative and friendly approach toward his patients. We found this trait helpful, especially for the children who come in for surgery.
It’s also a plus that he can articulate his explanation so that the children can easily understand what’s going to happen and why it’s happening.
Another thing we appreciate is his thorough tests and assessments, allowing him to pinpoint the issue and provide an accurate diagnosis.
For instance, a patient has been suffering undetected pain for months without any leads as to what it was. Fortunately, Dr. Weber managed to detect and diagnose the issue after thorough testing.
In addition, we learned that his diagnosis prevented the worst-case scenario for some patients, especially those misdiagnosed by other physicians.
On the flip side, we noted some patients who encountered booking difficulties. So, we suggest patients contact Dr. Weber through the Rockyview General Hospital and Alberta Children’s Hospital to secure an appointment.
Overall, we think Dr. Bryce Weber is a great urologist for adults and children because of his detail-oriented diagnosis.
