5 Best Water Softener Services in Winnipeg for Homes Tired of Scale and Stains

  • Local Experience - Regional knowledge was one of the first factors I reviewed. The goal wasn’t just to select an experienced provider; I also made sure they understood Manitoba’s water composition and the filtration issues local homeowners often deal with.
  • Product Efficiency - I checked if they carry systems with smart monitoring features, lower salt usage, and reliable technology for different household needs. Efficient hardware was important because it helps reduce long-term operating costs.
  • Service Versatility - I considered whether they offer flexible options, such as rentals and traditional upfront purchases. This gave me a better idea of which companies could work with different budgets and homeowner preferences.
  • Long-Term Support - Maintenance and after-care were also part of my research. Providers with tune-ups, salt delivery, and ongoing system support helped me identify the most dependable options

Living with hard water in Winnipeg gets annoying fast.

Spots on dishes, stiff laundry, dry skin, and crusty buildup around taps can make simple chores feel harder than they should.

Hard water can also put extra strain on your heater and plumbing over time. So finding the best water softener in Winnipeg can be a smart move.

I checked out local companies that handle testing, installation, and maintenance, so you can pick a reliable team to keep your home running smoothly.

How much does a water softener service cost in Winnipeg?

In Winnipeg, installing a water softener usually costs between $1,200 and $5,500 CAD, depending on the system type and setup needed.

Address: 1200 Sargent Ave

Contact: 204-809-9968

Hours: Mon to Fri 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

As a family-owned business serving the region since 1956, Culligan of Winnipeg brings deep experience to every setup.

Their systems aren’t basic, especially the smart high-efficiency model that connects to an app for round-the-clock equipment monitoring.

I like that they also offer flexible options for different budgets. When I called to ask, they highlighted a rental program that costs under $10 a month for the first quarter.

The reassurance continues after installation, since their work is backed by a complete satisfaction guarantee.

Nonetheless, it’s worth noting that booking can be tricky. Appointment availability shifts around holidays and seasonal hours, so immediate visits aren’t always possible during peak periods.

Pros

  • Family-owned business operating since 1956
  • Strong local water treatment experience
  • Smart systems allow app-based monitoring
  • Rental plans fit tighter budgets
  • Satisfaction guarantee backs completed work

Cons

  • Holiday scheduling can be harder
  • Peak seasons may delay appointments

Customer Reviews

Very pleased

We are very pleased with our reverse osmosis system and have been able to drink from the tap for the very first time. The water softener system seems to be working well as we have noticed our water no longer drying out our skin and hair. The testing appt with Brady was very informative and fun. We got to conduct science experiments in our kitchen and even had the child join in. Brady got us approved for financing and we were able to coordinate a date for the installation. Very pleased we went with Culligan.

Responsive, accommodating, helpful, and friendly

Excellent products and customer service who are very responsive, accommodating, helpful and friendly – from the sales rep to the delivery guy. we no long have to worry about the quality of our water and are beyond happy with our new water softener system – thanks Culligan!

Address: 1654 St. James Street

Hours: Mon to Fri 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Homeowners who want a straightforward approach will likely appreciate this Manitoba-owned business.

Aqua Sure Water Systems avoids high-pressure sales tactics and focuses more on guaranteed water treatment results than selling extra hardware.

I particularly like that their certified specialists come directly to your property, handling everything from the first assessment to full system setup and maintenance.

They’re also helpful if you already have equipment installed. Instead of pushing a brand-new unit right away, they can repair, modify, or upgrade existing filtration systems to help you save money.

Still, water quality is their sole focus. If you need plumbers for broader pipe repairs or water lines, they won’t be the right fit.

Their service area is limited too, since they only work with clients within Manitoba.

Pros

  • Manitoba-owned local water treatment business
  • No high-pressure sales tactics used
  • Certified specialists visit your property
  • Handles setup, maintenance, and assessments
  • Repairs and upgrades existing systems

Cons

  • Only focuses on water quality
  • Service area limited to Manitoba

Customer Reviews

Very knowledgeable and very professional

I had a water softener issue and called Victor at aqua sure at three in the afternoon. He was over at my place three hours later with a box of parts for my softener. Quickly, he figured out the problem, and reprogrammed my softener and within a few days our water hardness was gone. He is very knowledgeable and very professional and I would recommend to any one having water issues. Thanks Victor.

The cost of equipment, work, and replacement filters all seem very fair

Quality work on the installation of my water softener many years ago and my iron filter and reverse osmosis system more recently. They were also very helpful when I have needed to change the filters and R/O membrane. The cost of equipment, work, and replacement filters all seem very fair.

3. Affordable Water Treatments of Manitoba

Address: St. Andrews

Contact: (204) 333-9250

Hours: Mon to Sat 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Affordable Water Treatments of Manitoba has over 15 years of experience handling hard water issues in both rural communities and city homes.

A big part of their appeal comes from their fast service. People I talked to really like that they offer same-day or next-day repairs, which is a huge relief when your system suddenly stops working.

They also provide a free system diagnosis before doing any work, so you’re not stuck worrying about upfront obligations.

Their technicians can repair all major water softener brands too, even if they weren’t the ones who installed the original unit.

Just a heads-up: their compact single-tank system only handles up to one part per million of clear-water iron. For heavier iron levels or rotten-egg smells, you’ll likely need a separate iron filter.

Pros

  • Over 15 years of experience
  • Serves rural and city homes
  • Same-day or next-day repairs available
  • Free diagnosis before any work
  • Repairs all major softener brands

Cons

  • Single-tank system has iron limits
  • Heavy iron needs separate filtration

Customer Reviews

I am impressed by their efficiency and workmanship

Last year, John and Rick visited my house to install the RO system and the water softener. They also ran a pipeline from the RO system to the fridge which was awesome as they had to bypass a lot of stuff but they made it. This year, which is today, Rick and John came and installed the big carbon filter to help us to remove the red/orange stuff in the water. I am impressed by their efficiency and workmanship. Thank you – John, Rick, and John (or Jon?).

Very friendly and knowledgeable people

Rick/J.R. had done an amazing job on the water softner, iron filter and the reverse osmosis system installations. They arrived early in the day and installed everything very professional with a clean looking finish. They took the time to explain the process of what they were doing, and how everything works on the new system. Very friendly and knowledgeable people, throughout the stages of inspections, bookings, and installations. All the old materials were removed from the residence which was a bonus for the owner not to have to deal with. Highly recommend!

4. GLT Heating & Cooling

glt-heating-cooling

Website: https://gltservice.ca/

Address: 851 Lagimodiere Blvd #7

Contact: 204-334-4328 | [email protected]

Hours:

  • Mon to Fri 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Emergency Service 24/7

For a reliable home service company that’s available 24/7, I’d say this provider is a great option. GLT Heating & Cooling handles water softener installs and repairs, along with heating, cooling, electrical, and air quality work.

That makes them helpful if you’d rather call one company for several maintenance needs rather than juggle different contractors.

A friend of mine used their emergency line recently, and the technician explained the issue clearly. They also gave a detailed diagnostic report with a no-obligation quote for parts and labour.

Their maintenance package is a nice perk, too. Members get 15% off repairs and priority placement, which can save time during busy seasons.

Just note that this team aren’t water specialists, so they may not feel as boutique as a water-only company.

Pros

  • Available for emergency service 24/7
  • Handles multiple home maintenance needs
  • Installs and repairs water softeners
  • Provides clear diagnostic reports upfront
  • Members get repair discounts and priority

Cons

  • Not exclusively focused on water systems

Always there when you need them

We have been using GLT for 20 years and that should tell you something. Always there when you need them and some of the technicians have been there working there just as long. Great service

Very personable and professional

Ian was very personable and professional, as have all the GLT staff we have interacted with. GLT has serviced our furnace and air conditioner since 2018. We have also used GLT for plumbing services. We are very satisfied with the service we have received from GLT over the years.

5. Brown’s Plumbing & Heating

Hours: Mon to Fri 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Homeowners looking for long-term reliability may appreciate this company’s preventative maintenance plan.

People I spoke with liked how their program covers more than a quick checkup. These include an annual 42-point tune-up, lifetime discounts, and priority service to help prevent future plumbing headaches.

What impressed me most is their experience. The company has been operating locally since 1974, and the team offers thorough water quality assessments along with reverse osmosis systems, carbon filters, and UV purification units.

Sadly, they’re a massive home-services firm, so water treatment isn’t their only focus.

It’s also worth noting that their testing process is a bit less convenient. You’ll need to collect your own water sample and bring it to their office within 24 hours.

Pros

  • Preventative maintenance plan supports long-term reliability
  • Annual 42-point tune-up is included
  • Lifetime discounts help reduce repair costs
  • Priority service helps prevent plumbing headaches
  • Locally operating company since 1974

Cons

  • Water treatment isn’t their only focus
  • Testing requires bringing your own sample

Customer Reviews

The guys were awesome

Alex and Josh came in to replace my water softener and fix a leaking faucet. The guys were awesome. Super professional, organized, careful, and personable. It was a pleasure to have them in my home to do the work and I highly recommend Brown’s Plumbing for your next project.

Very happy with the overall experience and professionalism

Had our annual VIP plumbing checkup and discovered our new well was producing harder water than the old well.  They quoted us on a new water softener and then installed it this week. Very happy with the overall experience and professionalism.
