Founded by Jacob Osborne, Orborne Construction specializes in residential and commercial projects. Their wide service area is something we like, especially since they cater to Manitoba.

They’ve been around since 2015, but we appreciate the owner for having over a decade of expertise in carpentry and construction. Osborne even has a Red Seal carpenter license, which means he can work in all of Canada.

Additionally, we like Osborne Construction due to their qualifications. They have Wolf PRO Gold certification, making them experts at using Wolf PRO products.

What’s even better is the warranty that it comes with. Due to their certification, they have extended warranty for all Wolf PRO products their clients use.

Plus, we appreciate their transparency, from contracts to products and materials they use. Some suppliers they have are McMunn & Yates, Barefoot Brown Decking, and Star Building Materials.

It’s also worth noting that they are available for small or large-scale projects. We were glad to learn that you can hire them for simple deck projects and major renovations.

Let’s not forget to admire their workmanship quality. Their eye for detail is quite incredible—even past clients agreed!

While Orborne Construction is usually closed on weekends, we appreciate that they accept appointments. It still depends on availability, though.

We just hope they can update their commercial project portfolio. Other than that, we think they’re one of the best general contractors in Winnipeg—that’s why they’re on the list!

Creative Design Contractors Ltd. joined the general contracting industry in 2008. That’s not what caught our attention; it’s their connections!

Furthermore, we commend them for knowing many tradespeople for any project! They have a network of architects, interior designers, and sub-trade contractors!

Notably, they earned recognition in the field, winning the Consumer Choice Award for Business Excellence in Home Renovation. They’ve won it for five consecutive years since 2019!

On top of that, they’re a BBB-accredited business and RenoMark certified. In our books, it indicates their high customer service and home renovation quality standards, respectively.

We also like the 2-year workmanship warranty of Creative Design Contractors Ltd. That goes for all projects!

Their specialization lies in home renovations. Unfortunately, The downside is that they don’t cater to commercial projects.

Additionally, we find it a drawback that they don’t cater to new home builds. The silver lining is they do whole home renovations.

Moreover, their expertise in home renovation projects impressed us. No wonder they’re an award-winning company!

Their workmanship quality and attention to detail are impeccable. Even past clients agreed with us, mentioning that the projects exceeded their expectations!

Lastly, the Creative Design Contractors Ltd. team has great communication skills. They finished their projects within the projected timeframe, which we think makes them great general contractors!

Specializing in custom homes and renovations, Alair Homes in Winnipeg earned a spot on our general contractor list because of their exceptional workmanship.

Their top-quality workmanship is backed by the recognition they have earned over the years. One is taking home the Best of Houzz Service in 2017 and 2018.

Furthermore, they are Master Builder and Master Renovator certified by the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association (MHBA). This entails that they meet the high standards of the building industry—an important factor if you ask us!

One of their main focuses, building lake homes and cottages, piqued our interest. We commend their expertise in building homes suited for the ideal Canadian lake life!

Additionally, we think their keen attention to detail is impressive! They optimize the house layouts to ensure that homeowners will continue to enjoy breathtaking views of the pristine lakes!

That doesn’t stop in new home builds. We appreciate their renovation expertise, whether it’s a small project or a bigger one.

Plus, they focus on providing luxury homes. Frankly, we believe it’s obvious through their portfolio—every aspect looks high-end!

On a negative note, they don’t offer commercial services. They also don’t build multi-family homes, unfortunately.

Looking on the bright side, we admire Alair Homes for being good communicators from start to finish! For us, that speaks about their professionalism!

Macanta Design Build Inc. definitely secures a spot on our list due to their awards! That highly speaks about their quality workmanship, don’t you think?

Their “Rosser Forever Home” project earned them a 2018 Renovation of the Year Gold Award from the RenoMark Renovation Awards. Their “Norwood Flats Home” project also won them another gold from the same awarding body!

We appreciate that they specialize in new home builds and renovations. However, that also means they have limitations as general contractors.

Unfortunately, they don’t work on commercial building projects. If you’re a business owner in Winnipeg, you may need to look for another contractor.

The silver lining is they work on multi-family buildings! Although we’re a bit downcast that this is exclusively for renovations.

Despite that, we think they still have pretty vast offerings. Besides custom homes and renovations, they work on knockdowns, rebuilds, and structural repairs.

We want to note that they offer interior design, a useful service. That’s helpful for their residential clients since there’s no need for subcontractors.

Previous clients of Macanta Design Build Inc. have praised them for their professionalism. The team was clear and transparent about the budget, which we commend.

While we acknowledge their communication skills, some clients felt they didn’t quite measure up. Fortunately, these instances are isolated occurrences. 

Premier Design Build started out small back in 2014 as Premier Kitchen & Bath. We were happy that they expanded their offerings after rebranding!

Now, as general contractors, they provide services for both residential and commercial clients in Winnipeg and its nearby areas. They don’t stick to just kitchen and bathroom renovations anymore!

Their services include custom homes, renovations, additions, and design! We also like that they work on commercial projects!

Moreover, we think they earn a compliment for having an in-house design team! We also like that you will work with their designers from start to finish, which is important in case of changes!

Frankly, we find their designs impressive! It’s because each job has a unique vision—ensuring no project will look the same!

In addition, they don’t use pre-designed plans. In our opinion, that speaks about their design talents!

A notable aspect is their commitment to the environment. They use environmentally friendly materials, which earns them points in our book!

On top of that, they build energy-efficient homes—we approve! It saves homeowners from high energy bills, and it’s eco-friendly!

Plus, previous clients liked how the team kept their lines of communication open. It kept them in the loop, which we believe shows transparency.

But do expect Premier Design Build to have higher prices than other general contractors in Winnipeg. Clients were okay with it, though, since the service was worth paying for!
