Nero’s Belgian Waffle Bar is a must for those looking for variety in their favourite morning pastry/cake—I still don’t know what to consider it. Anyways, Nero’s can satisfy both sweet and savoury cravings by offering toppings ranging from fresh berries to smoked salmon.
They even let you choose between Brussels and liège waffles, with the former being the bigger and more reliant on toppings and the latter being the smaller yet sweeter version. We’re fans of both, especially when sprinkled with powdered sugar!
The vibes here are immaculate as well, as it looks and feels like your local bakery thanks to its open-kitchen concept. If you want the best seats in the house, however, we recommend getting a table at the al-fresco area, with its charming wooden pallets and dim lights.
Pro tip: If you’re looking for something you can eat on the go, we recommend getting their mini liège waffles! You can buy them in boxes of seven or 21 to share as well. |

Ricky’s All Day Grill is one of the most famous breakfast chains in Canada, and you’ll find a branch in almost every city. It’s not hard to see why they’re so beloved by Canucks, either, as they offer just about every breakfast staple, from pancakes to eggs, and of course, waffles!
You can either go the savoury route and pair your waffles with their perfectly crispy fried chicken, or have them topped with strawberries and whipped cream. We prefer the latter AND order fried chicken on the side for the best of both worlds!
Aside from waffles, it would be a downright sin if you didn’t try one of their Bennies. We recommend getting the BC, as it proudly represents the country with its inclusion of maple bacon and Canadian cheddar.
Pro tip: If you want to start your day with something heavy, you must try Ricky’s Famous Original Burgers. However, if you’re keeping an eye on your carbs, you can choose to wrap your burger in lettuce instead of the buns! |
The Original Pancake House – Winnipeg

Whenever we have a chance to talk about The Original Pancake House, we grab the opportunity because it’s been a staple for families since the 1950s! Some of its old-world charm can also be seen in the design, from the retro windows to the exterior.
Don’t worry, waffle fans, because contrary to its name, it’s also home to some of the most amazing waffles! A prime example of this is their peach cobbler, which features sugary peach, whipped cream, and homemade granola—yum!
They also offer an amazing chicken and waffle combination for those craving something savoury. You can either choose the original honey or test your spice tolerance with the Nashville Hot flavour.
Pro tip: Don’t miss out on their signature item, the giant pancakes! They are oven-baked and can either be dazzled with apples, ham and cheese, or veggie and cheese. |

As you may have gleaned from its name, Roll Me Up Ice Cream & Desserts is the ultimate sweet tooth’s paradise. For instance, they offer bubble waffles that wrap around a heaping scoop of ice cream along with some sauces and toppings.
One of their bestsellers is the chocolate fudge brownie, which features real brownie bits and a generous drizzle of rich chocolate sauce on vanilla ice cream. We’re also huge fans of their fruit flavours, like strawberry and mango, which both feature fresh chunks of their namesake.
We also love how the place looks like your childhood ice cream parlour, complete with vibrant walls and funky-looking chairs. Of course, it won’t be complete without the delicious flavours of ice cream and toppings encased behind a glass counter.
Pro tip: You can also try making your own milkshakes! You can customise everything from fruits to sauces, whipped cream, and various other toppings. |

Just Waffles is as straightforward as they come, as its goal is simple: serve waffles in just about every variation you could possibly think of. Whether you’re looking for mixed fruits, whipped cream, and even eggs Benedict, you’ll find it on their menu.
They also offer pizza waffles, which may sound like a nine-year-old’s dream dish, but you can’t deny their deliciousness! As with traditional pizza parlours, this place lets you choose between various toppings like pepperoni, BBQ chicken, bacon, or plain cheese.
If you’re solo and feel like you could eat a horse, however, we can’t recommend their all-day breakfast waffles enough. These come with two eggs, prepared the way you like them, and either bacon or ham.
Pro tip: If you can’t decide whether to order something sweet or savoury, we recommend getting their Nutella waffle and ordering a side of maple breakfast sausage or bacon. |

Damien’s Belgian Waffles Ltd is a great local pastry shop that offers a wide variety of freshly baked goods every day. From sourdoughs to buns, cakes, pies, and more, this spot offers just about every crowd favourite.
It also happens to serve fantastic no-frills waffles. They don’t come with those trendy toppings like ice cream or those overloaded toppings you’ll often find while scrolling on your social media feed.
Instead, you’ll be treated to some classic versions that feature flavourful waffle batter, powdered sugar, and a side of fresh fruits. They don’t even assemble them for you, as you’ll be in charge of decorating your own slab of crispy golden waffles.
Pro tip: You can also enjoy a more scenic dining experience if you get your waffle to go and eat it while strolling along Steveston Community Park. |

Waffleland Café is one of the most Instaworthy spots that offers this breakfast staple, with its quaint and garden-inspired interiors. The same thing can be said about their dishes as well, thanks to their beautiful presentation!
They offer both sweet and savoury flavours, with one of their bestsellers being the eggs royale. It’s like your typical Benny, but instead of French toast or a brioche bun, you’ll have two perfectly square waffles topped with smoked salmon, poached eggs, and their homemade hollandaise.
As for those with a sweet tooth, we highly recommend the Morning Haus flavour. It features cranberry sauce and honey to give that sweet finish, and bacon strips and walnuts to add some savouriness and crunch to every bite.
Pro tip: If the menu seems overly complicated, we recommend asking for the “Traditional”. It’s the purest form of waffles, which come with strawberries, cream, cheese, and berry jam. |

Canffle is one of the best places to catch up with your friends over brunch because of its spacious and Instaworthy interior and wide array of breakfast staples. It’s also one of our favourites in Vancouver because of its floor-to-ceiling windows!
The dishes here have waffles one way or another, whether you’re having a big breakfast plate, a sandwich, an Eggs Benedict, or even a dessert! For instance, they offer croffles, which are a combination of croissants and waffles, that feature various toppings like Nutella, Oreo, etc.
What impresses us about this place is how they seemingly make everything work well together. This is perfectly showcased in their French omelette selection, where they combine waffles with cheese, beef teriyaki, and veggies.
Pro tip: Don’t ignore their beverages as well! We highly recommend ordering one from their signature section, cough* try the lavender tea lemonade. |

If you prefer your waffle on the sweeter side, then The Waffle Co. Dessert Parlour should be right up your alley! The variations they offer will make anyone feel like a kid again, from their strawberry chocolate waffle to their Snickers waffle sandwich and more.
One of our favourites is the strawberry cream waffle sandwich, as it offers that perfect balance between sweetness and tanginess. A close second would be their Lotus Biscoff waffle, just because we can’t get enough of this cookie butter flavour.
If those aren’t enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, you can also pair your waffles with their thick milkshakes! You can either go the fruity route and get either the mango or strawberry, or add more chocolatey flavours to your palate by getting the Nutella dream.
Pro tip: You can also get their assorted boxes of six or 10 waffle/waffle sandwiches to sample as many flavours as possible. Plus, they’re perfect for gifts! |
