10 Kingston Spa Resorts You’ll Leave Fully Relaxed

Kingston was my family’s most recent holiday destination, thanks to its combination of fun and relaxing winter activities. The trip was SO memorable that we decided to spend this year’s Christmas in the city again!

I also realized that the trip wouldn’t be as fun if we didn’t book the right place because the spa resort we stayed in spoiled us with relaxing amenities and stunning suites. This is why, this year, I’ve been automatically assigned to booking duties and exploring other spa resorts in the area!

So, if you’re looking to spend your vacation in the city and don’t know where to start looking for accommodations, our team has got you covered! We’ve scoured Kingston for the best spa resorts to help you find the best choice for you!

If you’re one to revel in the great outdoors, then Glen House Resort should be at the top of your list! Located by the lakeside, the resort offers multiple amenities for outdoor recreation, such as kayaking, canoeing, and biking.

Glen House Resort also offers both an indoor and outdoor pool, the former of which is heated, perfect for swimming during winter! Meanwhile, those who’d rather stay active during their vacation can enjoy the sports facilities in the games room.

However, the main reason why we recommend this resort is the Shipman’s Dining Room. This in-house restaurant serves an amazing selection of sumptuous dishes while offering unobstructed views of the lake!

Pro tip:

Be sure to bring your clubs if you want to get a bit of tee time during your vacation! The resort features a newly opened course consisting of 18 holes.

The Gananoque Inn & Spa

The Gananoque Inn caught our attention because of its lakeside location and beautiful colonial-style interior. It also knows how to set a cozy tone by offering beautiful wooden furniture, warm light fixtures, and vintage elements like traditional fireplaces.

It doesn’t fall short of amenities as well, as rooms are modernized with hotel-like inclusions like water heaters, flat-screen TVs, fast Wi-Fi connections, etc. The views are to die for as well, as it faces the majestic Lawrence River.

As far as activities go, the main highlight here is the helicopter tour, which offers guests a bird’s-eye view of Gananoque and its neighbouring islands. Dining here is a treat as well, thanks to the fresh seafood and the beautiful patio overlooking the lake.

Pro tip:

Stop by the Thousand Islands Playhouse, located only a few steps away from the Inn, to enjoy fun plays and musicals by the waterfront!

All Suites Whitney Manor is easily one of the most striking accommodations in Kingston, with its perfectly preserved architecture from 1817. Don’t worry, though, because everything has been modernized besides that, from its complete kitchen to its lavish suites.

Speaking of, the suites here feature the same traditional design, featuring traditional fireplaces, elegant chandeliers, and exposed brick walls. They’re also perfect for families, as they’re extremely spacious!

All Suites Whitney Manor is also partnered with The Refinery Spa, located at the heart of Kingston. They offer packages that include an overnight stay at the manor and an all-inclusive treatment, consisting of massages and more for two!

Delta Hotels Kingston is a 4-star establishment that has all the bells and whistles you’d expect, from its spacious and modern suites to its wide array of dining options. Our favourite thing about their suites is the floor-to-ceiling windows, as they offer unobstructed views of the harbour.

Aside from its cloud-like bed, we decided to recommend this place because it offers both a swimming pool and a fitness centre, which are two things you’d want from a resort spa. The pool is especially highlight-worthy because it’s heated and offers massaging bubbles.

Dining-wise, Delta Hotels offers a fantastic restaurant located by the harbour, AquaTerra. It features a wide variety of international dishes, which you can eat while admiring the views from the patio.

Pro tip:

You can easily commute here by taking the bus and getting off at the Ontario/Johnson station.

Colonial Resort is another top-tier cheap option that doesn’t cut corners. It’s also perfect for families, not just because of its affordable price tags but also for its spacious suites and wide variety of things to do.

Starting with its relaxing facilities, the resort comes with both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool where both kids and adults can cool down during the summertime. As for the rooms themselves, they’re equipped with AC units, plush beds, and other modern amenities.

The best part about staying here, however, is the customer service, as they can arrange various activities for you and your loved ones. From helicopter tours to kayaking, hiking, biking, and anything in between, you can count on their front desk to hook you up!

Pro tip:

If you’re looking for the ultimate relaxation package, you can head to Synergy Massage Therapy, located within minutes of the hotel!

Foodies will also enjoy their stay here thanks to the hotel’s in-house restaurant, the Cannery Kitchen and Social. Aside from offering dishes stemming from Canadian roots, this restaurant also offers an amazing selection of drinks, such as wine, sparkling champagne, etc.

At first glance, the Donald Gordon Centre may not be the most relaxing option, considering it’s located in a university, but hear us out. For starters, the place features rooms that easily pass as four or even five-star hotel suites, with their plush beds, massive windows, and Nordic decor.

The main reason why we recommend this place, however, is that it’s partnered with Glow Spa, one of the best wellness centres in Kingston. By booking the wellness retreat package offered by Donald Gordon Centre, you can enjoy an overnight stay and a thermotherapy at Glow!

Thermotherapy features a combination of heat via the sauna, hot tub, and steam room, cold via the ice plunge, and rest. This relaxing cycle aims to boost immunity, mood, mindfulness, and detoxification.

You can also bring home some goodies that will help you promote beauty and wellness long after your therapy. Check out their store or visit their official website and start adding to your cart now!

If you love the sight of the St. Lawrence River and want to stay somewhere that’s always a few steps away from seeing its beauty, then Super 8 is a great option. It’s a three-star hotel that comes with simple yet comfy rooms that won’t break the bank, as well as excellent facilities.

Among these facilities is their outdoor swimming pool, which may not be the best option if you’re planning to stay during winter. Nonetheless, it’s the perfect summer hangout spot—plus, you can always make a short drive to the riverfront!

Super 8 by Wyndham is also a fantastic choice if you love Western cuisine! Their in-house restaurant, Wild Wing 1,000 Islands, offers American staples like juicy burgers, spicy buffalo wings, and of course, some cold beers!

Pro tip:

A short drive away from Super 8 by Windham is the Grays Beach Lookout. It’s one of the most scenic spots in the vicinity. It features a small sandy beach that may not be suitable for swimming, but is great for sunset viewing!

The Belvedere Hotel

Spa Menu

The Belvedere Hotel is the new kid on the block that we definitely see staying for many years to come because of its charming boutique rooms that feel homey. They’re functional as well, as each one features complete amenities!

Even the hotel’s façade looks like an attraction in itself due to its Second Empire architectural design. The same theme is reflected in its spa, which takes the form of an old-timey bathhouse featuring stone finishes and exposed beams.

The bathhouse allows guests to undergo a traditional thermal cycle, which promotes tranquillity through heat, coldness, and rest. This is done through its showers, thermal baths, and while resting, you can treat your sense of smell with the scent of Sunday’s Company Apothecary.

Pro tip:

Consider booking your stay during the weekdays to enjoy 15% off on your rooms and a noon checkout!
