Pros

  • Offers 200% guarantee
  • 2x winner of Consumer Choice Award
  • Offers preventive sanding

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Quickly gets fully booked

Cleanr Property Management, previously called Kildonan Snow Removal, was founded in 2015 as a one-man business. Now, it has grown to over ten full-time employees offering snow removal and lawn care services.

They cater to residential and commercial clients, removing snow in small and large areas such as driveways and parking lots. We were impressed, considering that they still have a pretty small team compared to other snow removal companies in Winnipeg.

Notably, they have won the Consumer Choice Award twice in 2018 and 2019. For us, that speaks about their good service quality.

We were glad to discover they have complete equipment for snow clearing and hauling. In our opinion, this well-maintained equipment ensures efficient and effective service.

It even allows them to offer on-demand snow hauling for establishments with high foot traffic, like restaurants and nightclubs. That’s good for business, eh?

We also like that their commercial services include parking lot sanding—available for preventive sanding, too! We found this important as it keeps Winnipeggers safe during holiday shopping sprees.

Another aspect that made an impression on us is their 200% guarantee, where they will pay another company in Winnipeg out of their own pockets for snow removal if the client remains unsatisfied after their second attempt.

However, it was disappointing that Cleanr Property Management is closed on weekends. Sadly, they also get fully booked pretty quickly, possibly due to having a small team.

Pros

  • On-demand service
  • Clients can set the prices
  • Available daily
  • Partnered with Hire-A-Refugee

Cons

  • Not ideal for large or commercial properties
  • Chance of no one picking up the request

A convenient snow removal service in Winnipeg is OnTheStep, developed by a group of University of Manitoba students. The company partnered with Hire-A-Refugee, an organization that connects refugees with jobs.

OnTheStep is a free mobile app which makes getting service quick and easy! The app is even called the “Uber for snow shovelling,” which we think makes sense since it’s an on-demand service!

One aspect we like is that clients get to set their own prices! However, there’s a chance no one will take it depending on the time, price, demand, and weather conditions.

But the app will provide a recommended range if you’re unsure about the pricing structure. We think that really helps since not all homeowners know the usual snow removal rates.

Since the app notifies the snow shovelers (also known in the company as Steppers) in the area, clients will normally get a fast service! The Steppers aim to get to your property in three to six hours, sometimes less if the weather permits—impressive!

OnTheStep focuses on residential areas, so they aren’t ideal for commercial properties. They also only use shovels and snowblowers, which means they can’t service large areas.

Nonetheless, they are available 24/7 any day of the week for residential clients. Homeowners can book the service if they’re away on vacation or even for someone else!

Pros

  • Fast service
  • Competitively priced
  • Complete fleet and equipment

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Doesn’t service commercial properties

Founded in 2018, Björn’s Mow and Snow is a small local business in Winnipeg offering snow removal and lawn care services. Despite only five years in the industry, they have serviced over 600 clients in the city.

An impressive aspect is their equipment! They have snow tractors and snowblowers, ideal for clearing high inches of snow on your property! Winnipeg’s snow is no joke!

Additionally, their complete equipment allows them to finish the snow clearing faster than with shovels and snowblowers only. They can service large residential properties as well.

There’s a minor downside to that, though. Björn’s Mow and Snow doesn’t cater to commercial properties.

On a positive note, we were impressed with their fast response time despite having a small team. They respond within 24 hours, which is highly appreciated by our team.

Moreover, we like their competitive prices. The clients we conversed with liked the fair pricing, too—a definite plus in our books!

Their work quality left an impression on us as well. The crew was quick to finish the snow removal process due to having all the necessary equipment.

In fact, some clients who booked them during winter decided to continue with their lawn care. For us, that speaks highly about their work!

Sadly, Björn’s Mow and Snow is unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays. You’re going to need to look elsewhere if you need to use your driveway on weekends.

Pros

  • Has a 24/7 team on winter services
  • Offers ice management program
  • Known for fast response time

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept cash or e-transfers
  • Other services not available on weekends

A BBB-accredited business, Terrace Property Maintenance Ltd. offers many lawn services, from spring cleanups to snow removal in winter months.

They service residential and commercial properties in Winnipeg. They also cover the city’s surrounding areas, which we appreciate.

Conveniently, they are located in Central Winnipeg, allowing their dispatch crew to arrive anywhere in the city faster than usual. They are also on standby 24/7, which impressed us as their office is closed on weekends the rest of the year.

Additionally, we appreciate that they are well-equipped with shovels, backpack blowers and snow blowers. They will sometimes combine these to ensure effective and efficient clearing.

Moreover, we appreciate their ice management program. They will remove frozen snow and ice buildup on your property, which can help prevent slip-and-fall accidents.

They offer salt and sanding for commercial properties to help prevent accidents. They will work on pavements and parking lots, which we believe many businesses need during winter months!

We were impressed with their fast response time from quotation to the actual service, which received praise from previous clients. Their reliability definitely left a mark on us!

Although we appreciate their cashless payments, that also means they don’t accept cash or e-transfers. It’s just a small issue for us, though.

Pros

  • A+ BBB rating
  • Offers salt and sand for residential clients
  • Offers commercial monthly contracts
  • 24/7 service in wintertime

Cons

  • Office closed on Sundays
  • Some complaints about customer service

Andes Contracting was established in 2012, offering various lawn services to residential and commercial clients. They are a BBB-accredited business with a rating of A+.

What we like most about them is their wide array of services. They offer a pretty comprehensive snow removal service than others in Winnipeg.

Their residential service includes salt and sand mix application, which other snow removal companies in the city don’t offer for residences. That’s convenient and helpful for preventing slips and falls, eh?

Another aspect that left us impressed is their commercial roof snow removal. That’s quite rare for driveway snow-clearing companies in Winnipeg since most don’t offer roof snow!

Additionally, they offer commercial monthly contracts that come with unlimited visits! For us, this is beneficial for customers’ safety since snow in Winnipeg usually lasts from November to March—sometimes up to April!

Furthermore, we admire that they are open 24/7 during the winter season. However, the rest of their services aren’t available on Sundays for the rest of the year.

Their efficiency deserves a compliment, though, because they can remove heaps of snow in just several minutes! Possibly due to their complete equipment, which earns them points from us.

We were just slightly disappointed to hear a few reports of poor customer support. Nevertheless, we’ve seen significant improvement in their customer service.
