The Michelin Guide Cafe Medina knows how to do brunch. The busy kitchen, high ceilings, stylish design, and old-world accents make the ambience perfect for a late breakfast.

The Mediterranean-inspired cuisine is nothing short of amazing—the variety gives you lots of choices, whether you’re craving sweet or savoury. The paella, a Spanish meal, is a must-try, made with orzo, roasted veggies, chorizo, egg, and spicy tomato salsa.

The cafe’s liège waffles, a crowd favourite for delicious reasons, take the spotlight every day. Have it plain or top it with your favourite sauce (white chocolate pistachio is worth a taste), and pair it with a cup of lavender latte.

Pro Tip:
Arrive early or try a little after lunchtime because this cafe is popular with Vancouverites. There’s usually a queue at the door, even on weekdays.

Jam Cafe is a Vancouver favourite—the long lines are proof of this, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. The environment and style are ideal for a chill brunch, with its exposed pipes, brick walls, wooden beams, and vintage accents.

The Southern-inspired menu is filled with Benedicts, waffles, pancakes, and savoury dishes. The pancakes are worth lining up for, particularly the triple-stacked cinnamon bun pancakes paired with the signature Jam iced coffee.

The fried chicken Benny is very satisfying and filling, which is composed of an English muffin topped with buttermilk fried chicken, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and shredded hash browns.

Pro Tip:
Go on weekdays to avoid long queues. While you may still see a line, it goes on faster than on weekends—a little wait is worth it!

Menu

The visually appealing design of Twisted Fork, situated in the charming neighbourhood of Gastown, makes brunch a pleasant time. The same goes for its menu, where food is made in-house and the drinks are from local breweries.

The eggs Benny on brioche is a classic brunch meal, but it’s better because of the rosti, perfectly poached eggs (runny and golden) and your choice of filler (we prefer smoked salmon).

Pair your meal with a bubbly beverage, like the Grandaddy Mimosa, for a citrusy drink. If you’re not up for alcohol, try the delicious mocktails, like the raspberry ginger fizz, for that refreshing taste.

Pro Tip:
There’s a queue sometimes, so check the waitlist on the website before coming in to give you an idea of how long your wait will have to be. Click on the reservations page on the website to see the list (note: this is just for the waitlist and no reservations).

Weekends are relaxing at Botanist, a Michelin-recommended restaurant with a high-end, cosy vibe. The bright interior, greenery, and pop of colours here and there make dining here very satisfying.

On weekends, we eat course meals for brunch. Choose your meals from the three options: Morning Stretch, Main Event, and Sweet Ending—there’s a variety for every course, and you get to have all the freedom to choose your own dishes.

The homemade burrata salad is a good start. For the main, try the delicious butter-poached lobster Benedict with béarnaise sauce and then praline dark chocolate fondant to end the meal on a sweet note.

It’s best to book a reservation, especially on weekends or romantic dates (like Valentine’s Day), to ensure you get a table.

The chic Chambar Restaurant had us at DIY mimosas, the ultimate brunch drink! It comes with a bottle of bubbles and freshly squeezed orange juice in a carafe, a deliciously good way to start your weekend.

This has become one of our favourite brunch spots in Vancouver because of its relaxing atmosphere and creative menu. The brick walls, wooden beams, and well-plated dishes have made our time here pleasant over and over again.

The waffle is an obvious choice, which comes with a nice blend of topping flavours—the white chocolate pistachio rosewater is yummy if you want a hint of floral. For a meat-heavy meal, the brochette de porc has bacon, sausages, and potatoes.

Book a reservation to secure a spot. Brunch here is on weekends only, so expect a flock of people to line up.

There’s no shortage of delicious restaurants in Kitsilano, and Fable Kitchen has managed to stand out. This farm-to-table restaurant has received the Michelin Bib Gourmand—clearly, we’re not the only fans.

Brunch is served on weekends and holidays. The vibe is very casual, the kind of place you go to with your friends—the inside is all about good conversations and great food, which is what brunch is all about!

The menu is diverse, with different kinds of dishes for every palate. Just imagine savouring a hearty Fable Breakfast with sourdough toast, eggs, potato, sausage, and cornmeal pancake while enjoying a hot cup of cafe latte.

Pro Tip:
Don’t be surprised to see a queue out front because Kitsilano gets busy on weekends. To avoid long wait times, arrive early for a better chance of quickly getting a table or booking an online reservation.

This corner cafe brings trendy retro style and elevated dishes to Vancouver’s food scene. The high ceiling, wood details, gold touches, and warm colours give the place a charming French bistro feel.

There are no disappointed looks when it comes to the menu—they’re serious about cocktails, where you can get creative mixes that just make brunch even better! Try Maxine’s Shaft Slushee, a frosted drink made with coffee, coconut milk, and Kahlua.

For a satisfying meal, the Dutch Baby has delicious bacon, sunny side up, and a rich Mornay sauce. An added French touch is the truffle omelette, which is made with eggs, La Sauvagine cheese sauce, and black truffle.

Pro Tip:
Ask for indoor dining instead of the patio. The decor inside will elevate your brunch experience—this is one of the rare times we actually don’t pick the patio!

OEB Breakfast Co.

Menu

This marina-side brunch spot brings a breezy dining experience with views of False Creek right by the seawall. OEB Breakfast Co. is dedicated to breakfast and brunches, offering an elevated menu and Canadian favourites.

The star of the menu is the breakfast poutine section, served with beef tallow fried herb potatoes, poached eggs, and topped with brown butter hollandaise. Our go-to is the Get Shorty Ribs, which has Philly-style beef short ribs, mushrooms, and cheese curds.

If you want to skip potatoes, you can substitute them with greens for a healthier option. For the drinks, a mimosa is always a good idea, but you can also opt for coffee with a splash of Kahlua—the Spanish coffee with Kahlua and brandy is pretty strong!

Pro Tip:
ORB Breakfast Co. has several locations in Vancouver, and some can have lines outside at certain times. We suggest joining the waitlist from the website, which will take you to the Yelp app.

Water St. Cafe has been buzzing the area of Gastown since 1988. Tucked in a 1906 heritage building, this charming corner cafe offers bistro dining coupled with an elegant interior, a heritage feel, and views of the cobbled streets and the Gastown Steam Clock.

The menu is equally the same—upscale and relaxed with Canadian and Italian favourites. Start with the popular West Coast crab cakes, which are made of crab and shrimp, served with saffron aioli and a side of corn sofrito.

Your brunch menu comes with lunch options, too. The seafood gnocchi is a must-try, which has shrimp, clams, and scallops. The mushroom gnocchi is a delicious pillowy and truffley option if you want to avoid seafood.

A not-to-miss during brunch is the wine menu. It’s full of BC brands that will pair really well with your Italian dishes.

Pro Tip:
Head upstairs to 2nd Floor Gastown for live music in an intimate setting and a full menu by Water St. Cafe. Check the events schedule on the website to see the artist lineup.

Hunnybee Bruncheonette

Address: 789 Gore Ave

Contact: [email protected]

Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 8 am – 4 pm

Website

Menu

In the neighbourhood of Strathcona, Hunnybee Bruncheonette has been one of our favourite places to eat in Vancouver. It’s a small spot on the corner of Gore Avenue and Union Street, with a casual and relaxing ambience—just like what brunch feels like!

The menu is short, yet it comes with popular brunch meals and housemade bread. The Hash Benedict is a hearty meal composed of sausages, poached eggs, roasted veggies, and hollandaise sauce—add a twoonie for the avocado and make it complete.

Another dish worth trying is the sweet ricotta pancakes topped with a generous serving of blueberry jam and cultured cream. In certain months, jams made from seasonal fruits are available to try.

Oh, and bring your furry companion during patio season! This brunch spot is dog-friendly!

Pro Tip:
After 5 pm, Hunnybee turns into a pizza place from Wednesday to Saturday and a Mexican restaurant on Monday and Tuesday. Swing by for dinner and try woodfire pizza and tacos.
