Pros

  • Focuses on studio reformer classes
  • Has a large team of instructors
  • Has a large virtual library
  • Offers many class packages
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • No in-studio mat classes
  • No live virtual sessions

Muse Movement is one of our picks of the best Pilates studios in Toronto because they have a large team of qualified instructors. We appreciate how approachable and supportive they are, which we found is really important for the best experience.

We also like the space, which is small but doesn’t feel cramped. It’s clean and bright, allowing for a relaxing but fun Pilates class.

They offer in-person and virtual classes, focusing on reformers for studio sessions. However, it’s unfortunate they don’t have studio mat classes, which they only offer virtually.

Still, we appreciate that they offer classes for beginners and advanced students. In fact, most classes welcome all levels.

But there’s another issue, though. There are no live one-on-one virtual sessions since they only have a video library that students can watch and follow.

On the flip side, we like that their virtual library has over 75 videos, offering specialized and full-length classes. It is pretty convenient since students can exercise on their own time, even when they’re travelling.

Muse Movement offers single sessions, class packs, and memberships, which we appreciate because there’s a wide range of budget options. Membership for 12 classes in a month costs $350, which we found to be within a reasonable range.

Pros

  • Uses Health Canada-approved cleaner
  • Has high-quality equipment
  • Has fully certified Pilates teachers
  • Available for studio and virtual training

Cons

  • Packages are pricier
  • Doesn’t have a large team

Something we like about Spark Pilates is how clean their space is. It shouldn’t have been surprising since they use Bioesque Solutions, an eco-friendly plant-based disinfectant approved by Health Canada.

Their equipment is well-maintained as well. An incredible factor is they have high-quality apparatus from Pilates Designs equipment straight from New York.

Spark Pilates offers studio and virtual classes, which are convenient for busy bees. They offer authentic Pilates mat training and reformer, taught by a certified Pilates teacher.

We also applaud their pilates instructors for being friendly and professional. Most people we talked with complimented their teachers because of their excellent guidance.

Also, while we appreciate their highly qualified team, we noticed they don’t have quite a large team. For us, it’s a limitation since there aren’t a lot of available teachers.

On the bright side, Spark Pilates has fully certified Pilates teachers. Their experience and qualifications make up for it, don’t you think?

Price-wise, we were thrilled upon learning their drop-in rate, which is $130 for a one-on-one session. However, their packages lean on the higher side.

Lastly, a five-lesson package is $590, which is $118 a class. We found it a bit steep compared to other Pilates studios in Toronto.

Pros

  • Studio has an inviting space
  • Has virtual mat Pilates classes
  • Rates are affordable
  • Has a large team; with master teachers

Cons

  • Limited classes

One of our choices is Mindful Movement Centre, a Yorkville Pilates studio with a very clean and inviting space. Their adorable studio is conveniently located as well, with parking areas nearby.

They specialize in reformer Pilates, with plenty of classes available for all levels. We appreciate offering slower-paced and more intense sessions.

But there’s a minor downside. Since they focus on reformer classes, you won’t find other types of Pilates lessons here, which we think limits their clientele.

On a good note, Mindful Movement Centre offers virtual mat Pilates for all levels, which is good news for those unable to visit the studio. Then again, this type of class isn’t available in the studio.

Another commendable factor is they have quite a large team of instructors. They even have master teachers to ensure the best possible training.

In addition to that, we love how supportive their instructors are. Our surveys showed that despite having different styles of teaching, they never fail to assist each and every student.

It’s worth noting how affordable their classes are—it’s even one of the lowest prices we’ve seen in Toronto. A reformer drop-in class is only $50, while a single private session with a master instructor is only $150.

4. Pilates by Stav

Pros

  • Located in a quiet street
  • Accepts clients worldwide
  • Offers in-studio, virtual, and on-location classes
  • Custom designs every program

Cons

  • No other instructors available
  • No set hours; strictly by appointment

Pilates by Stav is founded by Stav Giannoulis, who operates her studio as a one-woman team. It’s pretty incredible because of how she can manage many clients despite not having a large team of instructors.

That said, not having a large team is where we also found a downside. Sadly, that means her schedule gets packed quickly, especially since she only accepts sessions strictly by appointment only, as there are no fixed hours.

But one of the things we appreciate is her studio’s location in Yorkville. It’s not on a busy street, so students can relax and exercise without distractions from outside.

We also like that Giannoulis offers in-studio, virtual, and on-location sessions, focusing on various Pilates exercises for all levels. She offers private, semi-private classes, and one-on-one wellness coaching.

Plus, it’s convenient that she accepts students worldwide, which is a big advantage for Torontonians working or studying outside Canada. Impressively, we found that she can also find a workaround if the students don’t have Pilates equipment at home.

As for her approach, we like how focused she is with her students since she doesn’t really do large groups. Most students we talked with loved how Giannoulis pays close attention to each movement, which is an important quality in a Pilates instructor.

Pilates by Stav also earns massive points for being considerate with each program. She designs her classes per student, which we found results in a better mind-body connection.

This personalized attention is also evident in the private and semi-private session offerings, which allow for more tailored instruction.

However, there are some cons to consider when working with AT OM Yoga + Pilates. The cost of memberships and classes can be relatively high, especially for those looking for long-term commitments. For example, the monthly renewal membership is priced at $209, which might be a significant investment for some individuals.

In conclusion, AT OM Yoga + Pilates offers a high-quality, diverse, and personalized yoga experience in downtown Toronto. The studio’s comprehensive class offerings, flexible membership options, and focus on mindfulness and holistic health make it a standout choice for those looking to deepen their yoga practice.
