If you want a pet care go-to, then Paws at Fort York is a solid pick. They cover all the basics from pet grooming to walking, so you won’t have to switch salons or providers—consistent care from the same team that already knows your pet’s temperament and routines is a win.

We like that their team can handle both cats and dogs. You see, feline grooming requires different handling methods and patience due to cats’ unique behaviour and grooming sensitivities.

Their pet boarding and sitting options are a plus in our books, especially if you can’t pick up your furbaby right away after a grooming session.  

We also find their booking system incredibly easy to navigate, since you can clearly see the services, prices, and time slots available. Just note that cancellations require at least 48 hours before your appointment. 

Lastly, it’s nice to see that they offer deals like 5% off your first premium groom package, helping you get a better feel of their services without paying the full price.

As soon as you step inside SOBAKA Grooming Salon, you can immediately feel its premium and relaxing environment, which is crucial so that you and your pets won’t have to deal with unnecessary stress. 

The team behind the services deserves credit as well, especially with how they welcome each pet. We’re glad that they start off with evaluating the pet’s coat condition, skin type, and grooming needs to adjust their techniques, tools, and products accordingly. 

That said, a typical appointment usually involves bathing with coat-appropriate shampoo, brushing, de-matting, nail trimming, ear cleaning, sanitary trims, and breed-specific haircuts. And it’s nice that they offer these in reasonable packages. 

It’s just a bummer that they’re closed on weekends, especially if you’re busy and the only one who can take your pet to the salon. 

On a positive note, we love that they offer specialty options like flea and tick treatments, medicated baths, aromatherapy, and even artistic styling.

We’re happy to know that Scooby Groom Toronto provides grooming services for both dogs and cats, especially since many salons primarily focus on dogs.

From what we’ve seen, their grooming packages are packed with all the essentials, such as bathing, blow-drying, brushing, de-matting, and breed-appropriate haircuts. Price-wise, we believe the rates are reasonable given the inclusions that come with each package.

We also like that they have specialized treatments for pets with skin conditions, including allergies, dry skin, or hot spots. Their groomers are knowledgeable and skilled to use gentle products and techniques to prevent further irritation and damage. 

But we did come across some reports regarding scheduling issues, particularly with failed appointment bookings, rescheduling, and cancellations without notice from the salon’s end. You’ll probably have to double-check your online booking by calling the salon.

Nonetheless, we have to give them props for prioritizing creating a fear-free environment and session for your pets.

Good fear-free master cat groomers

“Took my tripod kitty here to get groomed and was so VERY impressed that they were able to give him a beautiful lion trim with slippers and a lollipop head and kept his poofy tail. It was such a beautiful job especially because he is such a restless cat. They even put a little matching bow tie. Good fear free master cat groomers are HARD TO FIND and Scooby Groom was fabulous. The only cocktail you’ll get from FUR BAR is a mix of grooming services that cover hygiene, coat care, and styling. For their packages, you can expect bathing with premium shampoo and conditioner, blow drying, a full haircut, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and detailed trimming. 

It’s great that they can work with pets of all breeds and sizes, while still being mindful and adjusting treatments based on coat type and needs. This can mean tailored haircuts, brushing techniques, and coat treatments. 

Speaking of treatments, they also have specialty services to address specific grooming challenges. Think de-shedding packages to reduce undercoat buildup, de-skunk for pets exposed to skunk spray, and even de-greasing for pets with oily coats.

The catch? We noted that their quotes can be a bit steep; they don’t have fixed rates, so some clients feel like they’re being overcharged. 

Still, we can’t deny that their custom grooming services are a big help for high-maintenance pets.

On that note, we found that they have a high success rate working with anxious or reactive dogs. This is a game-changer for furparents who have pets who may have had negative grooming experiences in the past.

The skills their groomers deliver are also worth showcasing. It’s neat how they can do diverse styling techniques, such as Asian-style that involves rounded shapes and detailed finishing work that gives pets a distinctive “teddy bear” look. 

Here’s the thing, though: you’ll probably have to read through their policies first, since it can cost you money. They have $30 late fees and require $50 deposits per dog for new clients. 

The good news is that their services are a good investment, especially if you want a team that can expertly work with different coat types and breeds.
