Pros
- Provides pet sitting for all pets
- Comprehensive service coverage
- Open seven days a week
- Accepts last-minute appointments
Cons
- No guaranteed overnight services
Birds and Critters Pet Sitters offers in-house pet sitting services for birds, small pets, exotic pets, cats, dogs, and more. We like that they cater to many animals and have the knowledge and experience to care for them.
We love how the pet sitters send constant updates of the pets to ensure the owners that there’s no need to worry. Plus, they even bring extra chew toys or treats, which is well-appreciated given that it was a voluntary effort by the pet sitter.
Furthermore, their services are available all week, so weekend getaways will be less stressful, knowing your pets are eating on time and safe.
It is also noteworthy that they accept last-minute requests, especially for those who have emergencies or have an urgent thing to address.
For instance, some of their clients call for their services just after work for an emergency pet sitting. We noticed that Birds and Critters Pet Sitters are very responsive and arrive as soon as needed.
However, overnight services are not guaranteed, but they can look after your pets as late as eight in the evening.
Another thing we appreciate is their comprehensive service coverage since they offer home caretaking and grooming services, even for exotic pets.

Pros
- Certified pet sitters
- Has a pet sitting app
- Handles complex dietary and medical needs
Cons
- Follows a one-visit per day system
- Minimum initial consultation fee
Paskapoo Pet Services provides pet sitting, dog walking, poop scooping, and small pet boarding services in Calgary. They have a certification in professional pet sitting and proper business insurance and bonding.
We love that their pet sitters continuously receive training and guidance from Pet Sitters International and carry Pet First Aid and Pet Care certificates.
Moreover, we appreciate that their pricing includes an unlimited number of pets and no charge for medication, such as food-mixed medicines.
We also like that they can handle complex dietary and medical needs per your instructions to ensure the well-being of your pets.
Our favorite feature is their pet sitting software, where you can schedule visits with a few clicks and update their information and pet care routines. And, of course, the app also serves as a direct line of communication with your pet sitter!
It’s also good that they are open every day. Also, we heard they are willing to take same-day requests and provide the necessary care immediately.
However, we found that they only have a one-visit per day system with a fee of $30 for up to 30 minutes of care services.
And as a heads up: we learned that they have a minimum initial consultation fee of $40, regardless of whether you proceed with their services or not.

- Rates are readily available online
- Has a large team of pet sitters
Cons
- Requires a deposit
- Charges cancellation fees
Assured Home and Pet Care Inc. specializes in in-home pet sitting services, dog walking, and boarding services.
We like that they are open 24 hours a day, which means they have a flexible schedule. Plus, they offer live-in pet sitting services, meaning clients can book overnight services with Assured Home and Pet Care Inc.
Another thing we appreciate is their 30-minute complimentary meet and greet. Here, you can gauge how well the designated pet sitter and your pet can get along while you are away and check out their experience handling pets.
But, keep in mind that they require at least a 25% deposit to avail of their services. To add, they also have a 25% cancellation fee.
On the bright side, you can check their rates online and compute if they fit your budget. We think this is helpful, especially for those who want a quick quote.
We are also impressed with their large team, having a crew of around 60 pet sitters. We believe this allows them to deploy sitters simultaneously and have multiple visits in the same time slot.
Finally, we love that their pet sitters are certified in Pet First Aid through the Walks n’ Wags training program, giving clients peace of mind in case of pet emergencies.

Pros
- Provides one-hour drop-in pet sitting visits
- Offers a free initial meet and greet
- Open daily
Cons
- No live-in or overnight services
- A one-woman team
Peace of Mind Pet and Home Care focuses on in-house pet sitting for dogs, cats, and small animals. Helmed by Cheryl Stubbings, she aims to provide peace of mind to Calgarian pet owners by providing a high-quality pet sitting service.
We like that Cheryl is a vet-recommended, PSI Certified Professional Pet Sitter. Furthermore, she ensures that her Pet First Aid Certification is up to date to provide the best care possible for every pet.
We are also impressed that Peace of Mind Pet and Home Care has been pet sitting for many loyal clients, with some hiring them for at least ten years. We believe this loyalty is a testament to their quality and safe services.
That said, clients can contact them via call or email and avail of their services on any day of the week.
However, we are a bit iffy that this company runs as a one-woman team operation, which limits the reach of their services. So we encourage clients to book at least seven days in advance to find and secure a suitable schedule.
Moreover, it’s a letdown that they don’t offer live-in or overnight pet sitting services, which we think is crucial for high-maintenance pets.
On a positive note, we like that they provide a free one-hour initial meet and greet to discuss and get to know your pet.
Lastly, it’s good to note that they provide one-hour drop-in pet sitting visits compared to the 30-minute visits of other professional pet sitters.

Pros
- Offers overnight services
- Readily available rates online
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Missed visit complaints
- Slightly pricier than counterparts
Established in 1999, While Away House Sitters & Pet Care Inc. continues to offer customized dog walking, pet visits, cat sitting, dog sitting, overnight care and home security checks.
While Away House Sitters & Pet Care Inc. is also a member of the Better Business Bureau, where they have an A+ rating for the industry-standard services they provide.
Notably, they offer overnight services and pet care, and we think this is especially helpful for pets that require constant care and monitoring.
In addition, we heard that the pet sitter does a great job at communicating pet updates, which gives the peace of mind their clients need.
However, they are closed on weekends. This means they do not accept regular day visits or dog walking unless you have special bookings that come with additional rates.
We also noted several complaints about missed visits without any prior notice or proper explanation.
For instance, some clients came home to a dirty litter box and only realized that their pets weren’t cared for when they came home. We also think they need to improve their responsiveness, especially at times like this.
As for their prices, you can check their rates on their website, but we noticed that they are slightly pricier than their competitors.

We like that they offer such an extensive array of services such as grooming, daycare, and medical care services along with quality products and facilities to accommodate various types of breeds and special concerns that clients may intend for their beloved pets.
Furthermore, their facilities and personnel that not only geared to specifically accommodate the needs of the client but also provide various opportunities to socialize with other dogs and even provide each one with long-term benefits as well.

Established in 2003, this service is a dedicated advocate for in-home care, specializing exclusively in cat sitting and caged pet sitting.
The founder’s approach is rooted in understanding the territorial nature of cats and the stress they can experience in kennel environments. With a strong background in pet psychology and first aid, Care 4 Creatures provides reliable and personalized care, especially for shy or introverted cats that may struggle in unfamiliar settings. The service is designed to ensure that cats remain comfortable in their own environment, which is crucial for reducing stress.
In addition to expert feline care, Care 4 Creatures offers specialized care for a variety of caged pets, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, birds, and other small or exotic animals. The owner’s experience with these animals ensures that even pets with unique needs receive attentive, knowledgeable care during home visits.
Additional home care services, such as plant watering and mail collection, add to the convenience for clients who travel frequently. The business is both insured and bonded, ensuring accountability and giving pet owners peace of mind while they’re away.
