When it comes to documenting milestones, Jen Blanco Photography is one of our top picks in Montreal. She’s a graphic designer, an art director, and a mom—she has all the qualities you want in a motherhood and family photographer.

Her services? Loads, except for mini sessions. She offers family, newborn, maternity, and motherhood photography.

The results we’ve seen have been natural—no forced smiles and awkward poses. Blanco knows how to capture moments that look genuine, and we appreciate her leaving the natural skin untouched to create more authentic images.

Her flexibility is worth noting, as she’s open to rescheduling without losing your deposit—with at least 48 hours’ notice. You can schedule for another date within six months, which is quite generous.

She’s also a solid choice, price-wise. Her services start at $625, which is a good deal for what you get, as each session includes an optional consultation, wardrobe and location tips, and 50+ digital images.

Michelle Little Photography offers it all: newborn, maternity, and family. Her shoots are available in-studio, at home, or outdoors. The freedom to choose your venue is very convenient, since you can pick where you feel most at ease.

Studio photography in Montreal is exclusively held at Belair Suites, which is cool since it comes with three rooms that are already set up. Some outdoor shoots are only available in Westmount, unfortunately, but only for short sessions.

The spotlight goes to custom wardrobe styling, so you’ll know where and what to buy for your wardrobe. And no, this isn’t an extra service—unless you want the stylist to be on-site, then that’ll require a fee.

We also like the mini sessions for those quick and budget-friendly photographs. However, these are limited, since Little will only announce specific dates for these.

Overall, she’s an excellent option, especially if you count her professionalism. From what we’ve seen, she can help the kids look and smile in front of the camera.

Pros

  • Has an exclusive venue for indoor shoots
  • Three studio room options
  • Available in-studio, at home, and outdoors
  • Custom wardrobe styling is included
  • Offers mini sessions

Cons

  • Mini sessions have limited availability
  • Some outdoor shoots in Westmount only

Prepared for all scenarios

“Michelle did a spring baby photoshoot for my family and was amazing! She is prepared for all scenarios and brings equipment for individual baby portraits. Michelle is attentive, wants to hear about yourself, and gives excellent directions. I highly recommend Michelle Little Photography and hope to work with her for future family photos :)”

Put us at ease immediately

“Michelle was recommended to us by our doula. We were a little late booking our maternity photoshoot but Michelle was able to fit us in! We had such a great experience with her. I am usually quite awkward when it comes to photoshoots but Michelle put us at ease immediately. We also booked a newborn shoot with Michelle. As a new mom, this made me nervous (just the logistics of it with a newborn), but we had a great time. Michelle is accommodating and so experienced. And of course, the photos were perfect!!!! Michelle is fantastic!!!! Highly recommend her!!!”

What we love about Lili Sweet Photography is her focus on fine art photography, mostly for maternity and newborn, as it brings an artistic vision to every image. But she doesn’t stop there, since she also works with families.

All photoshoots are held at her home-based studio, which is nice when Canada’s weather goes crazy, except for weekends. Unfortunately, that limits her service since her outdoor photography is a pricey add-on.

Still, Sweet’s studio is equipped with all sorts of props and clothing for motherhood and family photography sessions. You can still expect creativity in these without looking commercial.

She manages to capture genuine moments, since no image looks or feels forced, even when clients include grumpy babies. That wasn’t surprising, given her over two decades of experience in photography.

Lastly, the prices are affordable. She offers a variety of packages for every budget, including a convenient printing service so you don’t have to book elsewhere.

Pros

  • Focuses on fine art photography
  • Has props and maternity clothing
  • Offers a variety of packages
  • Printing services are available

Cons

  • Outdoor sessions are expensive
  • No weekends

Prompt and professional

“We had an excellent experience with Lili. She squeezed us in at the last minute and was prompt and professional. Her studio was cheerful and comfortable and she went to great lengths to make sure that our baby was at ease. The photos turned out wonderfully and she got them to us in a short time frame. I will definitely go back if we have another baby!”

– Laura Sanders, Google Review

Immensely talented

“Lili is immensely talented. Not only are her photos beautiful, but she is wonderful with babies and young children during the photo session. This was our third time using her services and we will continue to trust her for future events and recommend her to others.”

Shooting genuine photos is why we like Carolina Hanna Photography. She specialises in unposed, real-life moments—the kind that capture the essence of family and motherhood.

Her approach takes centre stage, as she doesn’t care about kids being too high-energy. From the photos we’ve seen, she knows how to capture real emotions using natural lighting.

The limitation, however, is that Hanna only does in-home sessions. That’s a bummer, but we get it, since it helps capture daily life, and you won’t be stressing too much about venues.

She gets another thumbs up for being an inclusive space because she works with all identities and cultures. Her clients praised her for making them feel comfortable in front of a camera, especially the ones who weren’t used to being photographed.

But her prices aren’t the most affordable (expect over a thousand), and weekends are more expensive with added rates. Then again, there’s a payment plan and the inclusions are ace, since you get 60+ images and styling guidance.

Pros

  • Specialises in unposed images
  • Utilises natural lighting at home
  • An inclusive space
  • Includes 60+ images
  • Offers payment plans

Cons

  • A bit pricier
  • Weekends have an extra fee

Everything felt easy and relaxed

“We had an incredible experience working with Carolina for our family photos. From start to finish, everything felt easy and relaxed, which was especially impressive considering our young kids weren’t the most cooperative at times 😉 Carolina captured beautiful moments and every single picture came out stunning. We’ll treasure these pictures forever. Highly, highly recommend!”

– Jeannine Cafaro, Google Review

Made me feel comfortable in front of the camera

“Carolina Hanna is hands down one of the most talented and professional photographers I’ve ever worked with. She made me feel comfortable in front of the camera, gave great direction, and captured moments I didn’t even realize were happening. The final photos were stunning—full of warmth, light, and emotion. Her eye for detail is unreal. If you’re looking for someone who’s not just a photographer but a true artist, Carolina is it. Can’t recommend her enough!”

When it comes to flexibility, Mimosa Studios, headed by Muriel Oelschlaeger, is a winner. She specialises in tailored services, ensuring that you’ll receive the photos you need.

Her focus is on photographing women, families, and newborns in Montreal. We like that she’s open to shoot in studios, homes, and outdoors, giving you the opportunity to pick the exact location you prefer.

How are the sessions? Comfortable. Judging by our observations, she has the right skills to make clients feel at ease, eliminating awkward smiles and giving real, natural reactions.

There are different kinds of packages for motherhood and family photoshoots, which is awesome because these come in various prices for every budget.

Mini sessions are also available for quick snaps, but only during weekdays at the studio. Another hiccup? Oelschlaeger’s schedule is closed on weekends.

But overall, her prices are reasonable compared to others in the area. If you have extra budget, there are plenty of add-ons, such as hair, makeup, and framed prints.

Pros

  • Specialises in tailored services
  • Available in studio, home, and outdoor venues
  • Offers mini sessions
  • Provides a variety of packages
  • Prices are reasonable
  • Plenty of add-ons

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Limited venue and hours for mini sessions

Very welcoming space

“Very welcoming space, I felt instantly at ease. There are a lot of options to chose from for your backdrop and aesthetic props. Muriel knows how to get the best natural and unstaged pictures that show your true self. I will continue to come back for portraits and shoots with my family as these memories are forever and I just love Muriel’s photography style!”

– Sarah L., Google Review

Photoshoot process felt so natural

“Many thanks to Muriel for the beautiful pics of our family! I normally feel very uneasy in front of the camera, but the photoshoot process felt so natural with a nice friendly chat! And we’re super happy with the result ❤️”
