Pros
- Locally manufactured products
- Offers mattress adjustments
- Has a flat rate delivery fee
Cons
- Limited selection of add-ons
- Doesn’t accept returns or exchanges
Founded in 1992, Sleepwell Bedding is a Winnipeg-based company offering handcrafted mattresses. Their products are all manufactured locally, ensuring factory direct prices—makes them affordable, huh?
They provide a variety of mattresses at different price points, giving customers a range of choices. Their products mostly cost from $200 to $1,125.
Moreover, they offer various collections from budget to premium lines. For instance, their luxury line includes an individual pocket coil system that reduces disturbance on the bed’s other side—no more waking up your partner!
We also like that they offer RV mattresses for Canadians who prefer living on the road! They also have crib, vinyl, and hide-a-bed mattresses.
Additionally, they offer add-on products such as box springs, mattress protectors, and cushions. However, we found they have a limited selection of add-ons.
One of the impressive features is that the mattress can be adjusted to your preference if it feels too firm or too soft. Simply use it for a period of two weeks and return it to the company for a free adjustment.
The mattress adjustment service is pretty neat, considering Sleepwell Bedding doesn’t accept returns or exchanges.
Lastly, we like their flat rate delivery fee in Winnipeg, which is available on Saturdays and weekdays upon request. Also, we were pleasantly surprised that they offer delivery to nearby areas of Winnipeg, although this is subject to availability.

Pros
- Open daily
- Affordable prices
- Helpful staff
Cons
- No online store
- Quality depends on the mattress brand
Founded in 1993, Mattress Plaza is a family-owned company in Winnipeg. Their shop is conveniently available every day of the week!
They carry various mattress brands such as Serta, Primopaedic, Restmore, Therapaedic, and more. These choices are pretty convenient, too, since customers can have many options.
Another aspect we like is their wide selection of products. Aside from mattresses, they offer box springs, bunk beds, cots, and mattress covers.
In addition, we were glad their factory outlet boasts a wide range of mattresses from standard to luxury ones—with many of them readily available. They sell foam, memory foam, and more.
We were let down by the fact that they do not have an online store, which could make the process of mattress shopping quick and convenient.
On a good note, we were glad their products are reasonably priced as they purchase directly from manufacturers. This makes it an excellent choice to shop here because it can help you save money, don’t you think?
The staff at the Mattress Plaza factory were knowledgeable and helpful, qualities we highly appreciate. Our client survey revealed that they were friendly and willing to help customers find the right mattress based on their needs.
However, some clients were let down by their mattresses. They weren’t quite happy with the quality, particularly some of the cheapest ones.

Pros
- Has a wide range of choices in-store
- Has a 7-day return policy
- Delivers across Canada
- Offers in-home placement delivery
Cons
- Limited operating hours on weekends
For over 30 years, Best Sleep Centre has been a retailer in Winnipeg, offering mattresses, adjustable beds, futons, furniture, and more. Frankly, we were impressed with their wide selection.
Brands they carry include Restonic and Best Sleep Elite. We were glad they offer various mattress types like foam, hybrid, micro coil, plush, TempaGel, among others.
We absolutely recommend going to the physical store so that you can truly know the best mattress for you.
We also like that they accept returns and refunds. Provided that the product is in the original condition when you received it, they offer a 7-day return policy.
Furthermore, they offer warranties for their own brands and from other brands as well. It may take some time since you need to file a warranty claim first.
In addition, we appreciate that they deliver anywhere in Canada. They offer curbside delivery, but what’s more convenient is that they also offer in-home mattress placement—no more heavy lifting for you!

Pros
- Offers custom-made mattresses
- Provides a 30-day guarantee
- Has a same-day warranty policy
- Reasonably-priced
Cons
- No online store
- Closed on weekends
Restmore Mattress, located in Winnipeg, is a privately-owned factory that has a vast collection of mattresses. One of our favourite aspects is they don’t do any sales talk, which for us shows their trust in their product quality.
In addition to their standard sizes, this store provides the option to create custom-made mattresses. This is a noteworthy feature because not many mattress stores in Winnipeg offer size customization.
Furthermore, we like their 30-day comfort guarantee if the custom-made mattress is uncomfortable. This service is free of charge unless additional materials are required, but the labour will be free—nice, eh?
We also appreciate their warranty policy that offers same-day service. If you bring in your item before 9:00 AM, you can receive a new one by 2:00 PM! Convenient, huh?
One of the advantages of buying from a factory is that their prices are usually more affordable than buying directly from manufacturers. Plus, there is a range of mattress types readily available in stock, including memory foam and latex rubber.
One drawback is that factories typically do not have online stores, which makes it difficult to shop conveniently and quickly from home. We were also disappointed that Restmore Mattress is closed on weekends.

Pros
- Open daily
- Offers same-day delivery
- Offers financing options
- Diverse price points
Cons
- Some complaints about pushy salespeople
- Expensive delivery fees
In 2002, Surplus Furniture and Mattress Warehouse opened its doors and has multiple locations across Canada. They have two in Winnipeg alone, which is pretty convenient for Winnipeggers.
What impressed us was the extensive selection of mattresses available both in-store and online. Additionally, they offer a diverse range of price points to suit different budgets.
Aside from those, they offer accessories like protectors and bed frames. They also offer mattress sets so customers can save money!
Regarding the warranty, we appreciate they provide both non-prorated and pro-rated options. Do remember that the mattress style determines the type of warranty offered.
One noteworthy feature is their same-day delivery service for in-stock items, especially considering that some mattress stores do not commonly offer it.
Moreover, we appreciate their in-house financing option, ideal for their premium mattresses that cost thousands of dollars. These come with no interest fees, too!
Surplus Furniture and Mattress Warehouse is open seven days a week. That’s a convenient feature for customers who prefer to shop in-store without needing to take time off of work.
Sadly, a common complaint we heard from the clients we surveyed was the pushy salespeople, which resulted in poor customer service. Another drawback is the steep delivery fee, even for addresses within Winnipeg.
