Just under a kilometre south of Riding Mountain National Park’s south gate, close to the townsite, Clear Lake Cabin makes for an ideal base for exploring, hiking, wildlife, and more. It’s also a short walk to Wasagaming’s shops, restaurants, beach, marina, and the visitor centre. 

Inside this 1050 sq ft modern cabin is a king bedroom, a queen room, and a sleeper sofa in the living room, so you can expect a spacious cabin. Plus, the tiled shower, air conditioning, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and smart TV make it feel like a luxury home in nature.

We also love how it offers a peaceful evening setup, thanks to its outdoor deck, fire pit, and hot tub—perfect for a post-hike or beach relaxation. And we appreciate how the place is always clean and inviting, even in winter, they earn points since it has toasty heated floors. 

Pro tip:

It’s a good idea to bring some outdoor or board games, and portable speakers, especially since the cabin has a nice deck and firepit area. And if you’re visiting off-peak seasons, ask the owner/host about early check-ins or discounted rates.

This cabin in Clearwater Bay offers you direct access to a beautiful sandy beach that’s great for swimming, lounging, and paddleboarding. And you won’t have to worry about privacy or exclusivity since it sits on a large, private lot with natural water streams and green space. 

What stood out to us the most is its bedspace. The main cabin includes four bedrooms, with a separate guest cabin providing a 5th. With 10 beds in total (plus a large sectional sofa), the cabin easily sleeps up to 12 comfortably, which is a win for families or large groups. 

On that note, you can also bring your furry friends and little ones, especially since it has lots of open yard space for playing and other activities. Also, it’s just a minute’s drive to the Clearwater Bay Market and LCBO, making it convenient to stock up when needed. 

Pro tip:

Given its access to the water, bring your paddleboard, kayak, or canoe. And if you’re staying a few days, try to drive into Kenora (around 25 minutes away) for local eats, breweries, and a walk along the Harbourfront Greenbelt.

And while this place isn’t directly on the shoreline, a short forested trail leads to your private dock, which is excellent for swimming, sunbathing, casting a line, and taking photos.

Pro tip:

Consider packing some water shoes and a flashlight since the path to the dock can be uneven, especially in the evening. And try booking a round at nearby Granite Hills Golf Course if you have some free time in your itinerary.

You can bring one dog that’s less than 23 kg. And note that special requests are subject to availability when you check in, and there can be additional charges.

Just a heads-up, the cabins aren’t directly on the water, but you can access Gull Lake just 200 yards away via the public beach. We also appreciate that the beach is shallow and safe for kids, yet deep enough for swimming, paddleboarding, and even snorkelling in crystal-clear waters.

Pro tip:

It’s a good idea to bring water shoes to make it easier to wade through shallows, explore rocky patches, and avoid any unexpected pebbles or slippery spots.

Chalet Next To Rushing River Park (Kenora)

If you want somewhere right next to Rushing River Provincial Park, this 3-bedroom chalet offers direct access to forest trails, rapids, and beaches. It’s also neat how the backyard is wooded, giving you the perfect blend of privacy and convenience since it’s near the water.

This Lakeview Cabin in Grand Marais is just a few minutes from a sandy beach on Lake Winnipeg and the Trans Canada Trail. In other words, it’s a good spot for swimming, hiking, biking, or just strolling around the scenic surroundings.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind, such as rinsing off before entering the bathtub—you’ll get a $200 surcharge if the tub has to be drained or cleaned out. And there’s a quiet time from 11 PM to 8 AM; complaints can result in eviction.
