A faulty boiler is a serious health risk, which I learned some time ago. I started smelling rotten eggs at home but couldn’t find where they came from—I always get my eggs fresh from the farm, so it couldn’t be that.

But then, I noticed my wife had to wear layers of clothing even though it wasn’t that cold, and she started not feeling well. So I did what any husband would—I went to Google.

All the signs pointed to a boiler problem, so I asked around because I was honestly worried about our well-being (this is where being friendly with your neighbours comes  in).

That’s how I managed to find a trusted boiler service, but I also kept the top recommendations I gathered in case my friends or I needed them. Read on and see the best ones!

Founded in 1948, Laird & Son Heating & Air Conditioning has earned a place in the HVAC service industry. All these decades of experience certainly gives us confidence in their skills and knowledge.

They even received the HomeStars Best of Award in 2019, which indicates their incredible service. They’re also a BBB-accredited business with an A+ rating, showing their commitment to good customer support.

We appreciate their highly trained licensed repair technicians, who are well-known for keeping the client’s home clean after the service. These guys even use plastic booties and drop sheets, ensuring they won’t dirty or damage the home.

Plus, we like that they’re full-time employees, which means they get the same training for boiler repair. They’re also well-equipped to repair different types of boilers and hydronic systems.

We also love how efficient their team is. The clients we spoke with noted the thorough inspection and effective service.

These guys are also available daily, so there’s no need to worry about getting a schedule as quickly as possible. But, it’s disappointing to hear some reports about miscommunication issues, particularly with the appointments.

Pros

  • Has 75% of loyal clientele
  • Technicians are thoroughly vetted
  • Technicians wear shoe covers
  • Has 24/7 call support

Cons

  • Office is closed on weekends

Hoerner Heating & Plumbing earns a spot on our list because of their four decades of experience. We love that they’ve also managed to gain many repeat customers for various heating and cooling services—they have about 75% loyal clientele.

It’s awesome that their technicians are all thoroughly vetted, ensuring only trustworthy people will come into your home. These folks also receive expert training to make sure they’re well-equipped to handle various boiler issues.

Plus, it’s nice their technicians wear show covers before coming into your home. For us, this indicates the respect they give to your home, which is worth noting.

Their repair technicians can also work on combination and heating-only boilers, which speaks about their expertise. We appreciate that they also provide boiler installation and maintenance, which kind of makes them a one-stop-shop.

These guys provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee, which adds peace of mind in case of issues. For us, it also shows the high level of trust they have in their service.

Clients we talked with even praised the technicians for their effective and efficient service. The clean up was also top-notch, too.

Unfortunately, their office is closed on weekends. But they do have 24/7 call support and they sometimes accept Saturday appointments, depending on their schedule.

Pros

  • Won HomeStars awards multiple times
  • A Baeumler-approved company
  • Has competitive pricing
  • Technicians are always fully equipped

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Emergency service is only for plumbing

The thing about Advanced Plumbing Drains & Heating is they’ve proven themselves to be a capable repair company. They won several awards, which speaks volumes about their incredible workmanship.

They won the HomeStars Best of the Best three times, including in 2024. On top of that, they received the HomeStars Best of Award eight times.

Besides their awards, it’s awesome they’re also a Baeumler-approved company, which means they’ve been recognized for their outstanding service in Canada.

Their boiler repair technicians always come equipped with the right tools and equipment, which we appreciate because there’s no need for several visits.

It’s also nice they’re very efficient and informative—they’re known for giving tips to clients, which always comes in handy. They’ve also been complimented for being courteous, which is highly appreciated.

We like that they’re also equipped to correct possible mistakes. This is because of their 100% satisfaction guarantee, so they’ll return in case of problems.

Even though they’re not open daily, they’re still a solid boiler repair company overall because of their top-notch service and competitive and transparent pricing.

Pros

  • HomeStars Best of Award winner
  • Top Choice Award winner
  • Has a BBB A+ rating
  • Provides same-day service
  • Service plans are affordable

Cons

  • Emergency service is only in service plan

Here’s what we like about AccuServ Heating and Air Conditioning: they’re a highly recognized service in Toronto. They even won awards, like the HomeStars Best of Award, from 2015 to 2019.

Plus, it’s impressive they also won the Top Choice Award for Air Conditioning and Heating in Toronto in 2021.

It’s also cool they have BBB accreditation with an A+ rating. It certainly shows how committed they are to good customer support and their swift action to rectify poor service.

The clients we spoke with appreciated their dedication to addressing the problems by going above and beyond. Their repair technicians are also known for being friendly while keeping it professional.

Their boiler repair service is very thorough, which is awesome. They also work on a bunch of brands, which is convenient for any homeowner in Toronto.

They also offer a service plan for maintenance, which we like as it keeps your boiler from breaking apart sooner than expected. It’s pretty affordable as well, starting at $15 a month plus tax for boiler services.

But emergency service is only included in the middle and highest tiers—but we want to note the middle tier is only a dollar up. Nonetheless, these guys provide same-day service as long as their schedule permits.

Pros

  • Handles all boiler makes and models
  • All technicians are Gas Safe registered
  • Provides 24/7 emergency services
  • Prices are competitive

Cons

  • Booking difficulty during peak seasons

It’s cool that Five Lions Heating & Cooling Inc. has two decades of experience in the field of HVAC repair. They don’t shy away from their results, completing over 17,000 services since opening.

Their technicians also demonstrate their expertise by handling all makes and models of boilers. Plus, they’re experts at repairing hydronic systems, which is cool.

It’s awesome these guys are all trained and Gas Safe registered, which makes us feel at ease when they handle boiler problems. It’s not surprising, though, since their repair technicians have over a decade of experience in HVAC systems.

We also like their guarantees, including parts and labour. It certainly gives us peace of mind in case of subpar service.

But the thing is, there’s almost no reason for the warranty because their workmanship is impressive. Even previous clients loved their overall service because these guys were swift but didn’t compromise their service.

Their operating hours deserve mention because they’re available 24/7—you can call them for HVAC system emergencies, which is very convenient.

But during busy months, they may have a hard time giving you a schedule because they don’t necessarily have a large team, unlike the others on our list. Still, they remain a solid option worth waiting for because their prices are competitive.
