If you’re in the mood for ramen, head over to Menjiro Ramen for that authentic Japanese taste. Their noodles are made fresh every day using their secret egg-free recipe, and their soup ingredients are mostly locally sourced.
We have to know their broth recipe because it’s not too salty but remains rich with flavours. The noodles are also bouncy and perfectly cooked—soft but with a nice chew.
The Black Garlic Tonkontsu is a good choice if you’re looking for a distinctive flavour. But if you want a creamy option, the Miso Butter Ramen with pork belly paired with a cold bottle of Sapporo is one of our best bets.
Pro Tip:
If you’re having a late dinner, come in at least 30 minutes before closing. They only accept last-minute orders 15 minutes before closing time!

Situated in West Edmonton Commerce Park, Kazoku Ramen is all about delicious and authentic ramen. The place is casual with some Japanese decor here and there and an adorable Godzilla on the wall.
But the spotlight goes to their ramen bowls. You’ll get generous servings and a good amount of toppings. You’re sure to get full here!
If it’s your first time eating ramen, the Kazoku is recommended because of its light flavours. It’s topped with soft-boiled egg, bean sprouts, narutomaki (white coloured with a pink swirl in the middle), bamboo shoots, toasted sesame, and green onions.
Spicy options are the Spicy Miso or the Chili Goma, which still have creamy flavours. Our meat option is always the pork belly for that added fatty taste.
Pro Tips:
Bring cash or a debit card. These are the only payment options they accept.
If you’re ordering for takeout, remember to call instead of emailing them. They only take orders by phone.

The welcoming and casual atmosphere of Hu’s Noodle Nook makes it one of the best places to get ramen. Everything feels inviting, from the decor (it reminded us of a restaurant in Japan we went to) to the friendly servers to the delicious food.
One of the bestsellers is Tan Tan Ramen, which has a scrumptiously rich peanut and spicy sesame broth topped with ground pork, green onions, and nori—a must-eat on a cold, rainy day.
What’s unique about this place is that there are three types of noodles to choose from: ramen, udon, and rice. You can also try their house specialty, Hu’s Beef Noodle Soup, which we like having with rice noodles.
Pro Tip:
The restaurant tends to get busy. Book a reservation to get a table to avoid waiting in line for walk-ins.
Tokiwa Ramen

Average Price: $16 – $17.50
Tokiwa Ramen is the place to go for top-notch noodles and broth. The noodles have a nice pull and are perfectly cooked, while the broth is always rich and flavourful.
All ramen comes with a half-boiled egg, wood ear mushrooms, bok choi, bean sprouts, and green onion. This establishment is also peanut-free and does not use artificial seasonings to get that traditional ramen taste!
There’s only a small menu, but it has a good variety and everything in it is scrumptiously superb. We do have our favourites, which are the Aka Kara for that spicy kick and the Yuzo Shio because of the zesty punch.
A little heads up: this place has a short daily schedule. They close at 3:00 pm or once the soup runs out, so come early because there’s usually a line and seating is limited!
Pro Tip:
Bring cash or a debit card on your visit. They don’t accept credit card payments.
Ramen Misoya

- Friday – Saturday: 11:30 am – 9:45 pm
Average Price: $12.25 – $19
Ramen Misoya is the spot you go to if you like a lot of choices. There are basic bowls of ramen and some that are so full of toppings you’ll need to fish out the noodles!
If you prefer a salty miso with rich flavours, go for the Gold Kome section on the menu, while Silver Shiro has a lighter and sweeter taste. The servings are also pretty large, so you may want to share with a friend if you don’t have a big appetite.
If this is your first time here, we suggest the basic ramen, like the Silver Shiro Basic. It’s not filled to the brim with toppings, so you won’t get overwhelmed with flavours and ingredients.
But if you’re ready to take on the challenge, the Silver Shiro Chicken Karaage has fried tofu, cabbage, bean sprouts, black fungus mushrooms, and three pieces of chicken karaage!

Take advantage of Happy Hour if you want to save some money. There’s a discount on the special offer from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Tansen Izakaya is not the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to ramen cravings—it is an izakaya, after all. The menu mainly offers sashimi, sushi, and grilled and deep-fried food.
Even with a very limited ramen selection (there are only three), it’s still one of our go-to spots when it comes to satisfying our cravings. A popular choice in our group is the Red Ramen, which has pork broth combined with spicy kimchi paste for an added kick.
The ramen bowls in this restaurant are not huge, so you can add some skewers on the side. Try the Chicken Thigh Kushiyaki to add meat to your meal.
Pro Tip:
Head there anytime between 11:30 am to 4:00 pm to get the cheapest ramen in town! During these hours, a dine-in ramen bowl is only $5 + GST!

Dorinku Tokyo in Edmonton is one of those places you visit when you’re craving authentic Japanese and Asian fusion food. There are actually two locations, one on Whyte and another on Jasper Avenue.
There’s not a lot of selection, but the choices are rich in flavour with an authentic taste! If you prefer a spicy miso, the Mapo Ramen is delicious but only available for dinner.
You can try the Tonkotsu Shio Ramen, a mixture of pork and chicken broth topped with pork chasu, kaiware sprouts, fried onion chips, green onions, black garlic oil, and spicy pepper. We prefer adding an egg and chilli oil for an extra spicy kick!
Pro Tip:
If you want vegan or truffle ramen, head over to their Jasper Avenue location. Their lunch and dinner ramen menus here are the same.

Indulge in quality ramen at Shiawase Ramen. This yummy destination in Edmonton offers some of the best Japanese food, from small bites of karaage to spicy bowls of donburi.
The ramen bowls are very filling because of the perfectly cooked noodles swimming in deliciously creamy broth. The Tonkotsu Black Garlic Ramen is a comforting option, while the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen is enjoyable due to its spicy broth.
Don’t miss out on the Chicken Karaage if you want to add something crunchy to your meal. It’s crispy on the outside and the meat is still tender on the inside.

Nomiya Ramen is a family-friendly spot in Edmonton because of its casual vibe. The menu is extensive, with a good variety of dishes that can satisfy your Japanese food cravings.
The Tan Tan Ramen, which has a peanut and spicy sesame taste, is one of their top sellers. Vegetarian Ramen is a good option for plant-based diets, as it’s composed of kikurage fungus, corn, bamboo, and seasonal veggies, all in a rich vegetable broth.
Besides the dine-in ramen, one of the highlights is the Tonkotsu Ramen Kit menu. You can have ramen at home anytime you want, and you get to prepare it at home! You can even choose from the three flavours: shio, miso, and shoyu.

Don’t order for delivery unless you live within a 5 km radius from one of their shops. Delivery is also recommended for group orders since there’s a $30 minimum.

One of our go-to restaurants in Edmonton when we’re craving ramen is Feng Donburi, which serves Tokyo-inspired cuisine. If you want ramen and sushi, this is one of our recommended places even though ramen is new to their menu!
We mainly go for the Tonkotsu Ramen because of its bouncy, springy noodles topped with BBQ pork belly, bamboo shoots, seasoned black fungus, soft-boiled egg, corn, and green onion. If you want a smokey flavour, you can add black garlic for only $1.
No meal here is complete without sushi, which is incredibly satisfying paired with hot ramen. The Feng Special Roll, composed of BBQ eel, imitation crab salad, and avocado, definitely makes for a delicious ramen pairing.
Pro Tip:
Don’t forget to join the Feng Donburi Rewards Program. For every five points, you get $10 off your total bill!
