Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Covers many locations in Alberta
  • Open six days a week
  • Reasonable rates
  • Quick response time

Cons

  • Appointment basis only
  • No office in Edmonton

In 2019, TITAN Land Surveying was founded by Patrick Boudreau, who has over 25 years of experience in the industry. The company works on residential and commercial properties in the Edmonton area and Northern and Central Alberta.

In addition, Boudreau has professional designations and permits to practice, which speaks about his professionalism. This includes the Alberta Land Surveyors and Canada Lands Surveyors, which shows the company’s legitimacy in the industry.

Moreover, he works in many cities in Alberta and has even worked on Indian reservations and national parks. Due to this, we think that clients will feel safe knowing that Boudreau and his team have a wealth of land surveying knowledge.

We find it convenient that they offer multiple services, including real property and Canada lands surveys. As a result, we believe clients will appreciate their knowledge of small and large property boundaries.

Although they cater to many areas, a minor concern for locals is their office location isn’t in Edmonton. It’s in Beaumont, which is still a 30-minute drive from Edmonton.

Another small downside is they’re strictly on an appointment basis. However, they can cater to many clients because Canada Lands Surveyors is open six days a week.

Lastly, the clients we surveyed liked their responsiveness and quick turnaround time. To boot, they have reasonable prices on top of having efficient service.

Pros

  • Hands-on approach
  • Services all locations in Alberta
  • Competitive prices
  • Quick turnaround time

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Getting a preferred schedule may be challenging

Moe Mouallem, who has over 13 years of experience in the land surveying industry, operates Milestone Surveys. He’s a member of the Alberta Land Surveyors Association and the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors, among others.

Additionally, Mouallem is hands-on with the business, which we think adds a lot to his knowledge and skills. In our opinion, this is an important factor because he works closely with clients.

We appreciate their many services, including subdivisions, reserves, and national parks. For us, this shows their knowledge of surveying different types of properties.

Apart from those, they service many areas besides Edmonton. They can even go to any location in the province of Alberta.

As for rates, Milestone Surveys provides competitive prices. Their clients even mentioned that their quotes were one of the cheapest among other land surveyors in Edmonton.

Impressively, their clients hired their services despite not being the cheapest quote due to their professionalism and responsiveness. They made a good choice, too, because of the team’s reliability.

Moreover, they delivered their reports quickly. The team was also efficient and responsive, which we see as important qualities in land surveyors.

Unfortunately, Milestone Surveys isn’t open on weekends. So, people with busy work schedules may need time off.

Also, we find that getting a specific schedule may be challenging, especially during busy seasons since they serve all of Alberta.

Pros

  • Over 30 years of experience
  • Has a complete team
  • Provides accurate results
  • Accommodating staff
  • Services Western Canada

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Inconsistent turnaround time for some surveyors

Since 1983, Pals Geomatics has been serving Western Canada. It focuses on the homebuilding industry but also caters to land developments.

One of the things we like is their careful planning regarding the expansion of services. They only deliver new services when they feel ready to serve new clients, which we find admirable.

As a matter of fact, they have expanded throughout the years and work with different clients, even the energy sector. Because of this, we think their expertise in various fields is an important factor for potential clients.

It’s also important to mention that they have over 130 employees, including surveyors, technologists, and engineers. The complete team is an aspect we believe is beneficial because each person has their own expertise.

Another aspect we like is they maintain good standing in safety, which is why they earned a Certificate of Recognition (COR) from WorkSafeBC. Additionally, every field staff undergoes drug and alcohol tests to ensure a safe working environment.

It’s worth mentioning that the staff at Pals Geomatics were accommodating, even to those who didn’t hire them. Customer service is essential to us, which is why we found this impressive.

Others complimented the team’s accuracy and knowledge. We were happy about this because these results in a professional service.

However, busy clients need to take time off because Pal’s Geomatics is closed on weekends.

We were also disappointed that some clients weren’t happy that some surveyors took a long time before drafting the report. Unfortunately, this resulted in some delays.

Pros

  • Over 30 years in the industry
  • Uses state-of-the-art equipment
  • Has several offices
  • Provides accurate surveys

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • No physical office in Edmonton

Challenger Geomatics Ltd was established in 1984, serving Alberta and the Northwest Territories. It has remained an employee-owned company since its founding.

Unlike other land surveyors with only one office, we like that it has several branches. But its closest office in Edmonton is about 20 minutes away in Sherwood Park, which can limit its clients.

They’ve also been COR-certified since 2001, ensuring they comply with the proper safety guidelines. In our opinion, their safety protocols can give clients peace of mind, considering some worksites can be unsafe.

It’s worth highlighting that they continue to invest in the latest equipment, which we believe adds to effective service. Aside from that, we appreciate that they continue training and developing the skills and knowledge of the land surveyors.

Moreover, they have state-of-the-art equipment for accurate surveying. The way we see it, they can handle even large properties due to the complete tools and equipment.

Another factor we appreciate is their online portfolio, which we don’t normally see in other land surveyors working in Alberta. They have a diverse clientele, which we believe highly speaks to their level of expertise.

Going back to accurate surveying, the clients we talked with agreed that Challenger Geomatics was precise in their service. Also, the team was professional and worked safely.

Unfortunately, they’re unavailable on weekends. So, some people might look for other land surveyors in Edmonton that are open on weekends.

Pros

  • Services various clients
  • Competitive rates
  • Accurate works
  • Quick turnaround time

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • Closes earlier on Fridays
  • Services limited areas

Since 2004, Alberta Geomatics Inc. has been serving residential and commercial clients. And in 2006, it took over Capital City Geomatics and can now deliver full surveying services.

Furthermore, we appreciate that they service clients in different sectors, including those from residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas. However, they have a limited reach of regions compared to other land surveyors in Edmonton.

Their several associations can ease the client’s mind in case of worksite accidents or complaints. This includes the Professional Surveyors Canada and the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association.

In addition, their various services are beneficial considering the clients they cater to, including infill constructions, topographic surveys, and condo developments.

We also appreciate the detailed online form for those needing real property reports. It reduces the constant online communication because all the necessary details are included already.

On top of those things, they offer competitive pricing. And we find this helpful for people on limited budgets.

Another factor we were happy about was the land surveyor team’s accuracy. Their clients agreed and said that they completed the work promptly.

It’s also worth noting that they provided the reports immediately. For us, this is excellent because it reduces any delays.

Unfortunately, they’re unavailable on weekends. Also, Alberta Geomatics closes earlier on Fridays than other surveyors in Edmonton, reducing their availability.
