Pros
- Strict on safety protocols
- Easy booking process
- Has virtual appointments
- Accepts same-day appointments for current patients
- Speaks Portuguese and Spanish
Cons
- Currently not accepting new patients
- Limited availability in schedule
One of the main things we like about Evergreen Family Medicine is the clinic’s safety protocols. It’s commendable because the staff and doctors insist on keeping their patients safe.
We appreciate that you can book easily through the website’s online form. We like that it’s a quick process and prevents long wait times on the phone while looking for an available time.
Moreover, we highly appreciate the flexibility they offer. You can have an online or phone appointment but can still ask for an in-person consultation if you prefer.
The clinic has two doctors: Dr. Andrea Scott and Dr. Marta Fragoeiro. But in this article, we’ll talk about Dr. Fragoiero since she has some qualities that stood out to us!
Since 2015, she has practiced in Edmonton after moving from her training in Portugal. It’s worth mentioning that immigrants can go to her because she speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish (all fluently!).
The most impressive quality she has is her attentiveness. To add, the common compliment she has gotten is her listening skills, especially with nervous patients and kids!
For us, those qualities are important because going to the doctor can be nerve-wracking for some people. Even for me, sometimes!
However, Evergreen Family Medicine is currently not accepting new patients. So, if you need immediate care, maybe you can check other GPs on our list.
More things to consider are the currently closed waitlist and the limited schedule. On most days, the clinic closes an hour or so after lunchtime.
But current patients can rely on them for after-hours care. Plus, Evergreen Family Medicine takes same-day appointments as long as there’s no scheduled patient, so that’s a plus if you’re a current patient.
2. Dr. Maria Pariy – Callingwood Crossing Medical Clinic

Pros
- Open daily
- Has over 10 doctors
- Offers many services
- Accepts evening appointments
- Compassionate and personable doctor
Cons
- Incorrect appointment and rebooking issues
- Difficulty getting a call response
What we like about Callingwood Crossing Medical Clinic is its accessibility. We like that it’s open every day, allowing many patients to schedule an appointment, especially on the weekends.
Plus, it offers many services and has over ten doctors. That’s an advantage for us because it means you can have a trusted doctor even if your GP is on vacation!
Furthermore, the clinic accepts evening appointments sometimes. But it does depend on the doctor’s availability, so it’s best to ask the receptionist.
Now, let’s talk about Dr. Maria Pariy, an Edmonton West Primary Care Network board member. She’s a family doctor and GP, meaning you can go to her for primary care.
Moreover, Dr. Pariy’s patients have praised her for being compassionate and personable. It’s worth highlighting that she takes her time with each patient, explaining their medical issues and results thoroughly.
But her good service does have a downfall. She gets booked up fast, and booking another appointment can sometimes take four to six weeks! *insert shocked face*
Don’t get us wrong, that’s actually a good thing because many patients are willing to wait specifically for her. But that also means you need to book way ahead of time.
An actual drawback that we found is it can be difficult to get a hold of the receptionist. Some even rang the medical clinic’s phone several times and didn’t get an answer.
We also want you to know that there were complaints of incorrect appointments and some rebooking issues. Sadly, these instances can be stressful, especially if they rebook you on a day you’re not available.

Pros
- Offers a wide range of services
- Speaks in English and French
- Shows genuine care to patients
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Lack of information about the doctors
The advantage of Heritage Plaza Medical Clinic is it offers a wide range of services. Aside from general medical issues, it offers children’s and women’s health, full medical examination, and skin biopsy, among others.
Honestly, our team was impressed and surprised that the clinic offers many services despite being a relatively small clinic. Even with just two doctors available, they can provide quality service.
Moreover, we highly appreciate Dr. Nachida Mebrek. She’s a GP and family doctor who has earned many trusted clients over the years.
As a matter of fact, her patients moved to Heritage Plaza Medical Clinic when Dr. Mebrek moved her practice there. It’s the trust her patients have for her that made a big impression on us.
We also like how personable she is. From our research, we learned that she cares genuinely for her patients.
Moreover, the people we surveyed loved how Dr. Mebrek listened to their issues patiently. They mentioned that they never felt she was rushing the appointment, which is a big plus!
It’s also worth mentioning that the GPs speak French, too! It’s not just Quebec that speaks French, see?
Sadly, Heritage Plaza Medical Clinic is unavailable on weekends. That was disappointing, especially for people who work on weekdays.
It would also be nice to add some information regarding the doctors. It can be helpful for people looking for an Edmonton GP.
4. Dr. Rida Musbah – CareExcellence Medical Center

Pros
- Located next to a pharmacy
- Has a fast line service
- Provides a wide array of services
- Provides thorough consultations
Cons
- Some complaints about customer service
- Clinic hours can be inconsistent
If you’re looking for an Edmonton GP with a convenient location, CareExcellence Medical Center may be a good option. Why? Well, just next to the clinic is a pharmacy, so buying your medicine is just a few steps away!
We also like the wide array of services the clinic offers. It’s quite impressive, really, because it also includes prenatal care and mental health services.
Another aspect we like is the Fast-Line Check-Out Program. It’s a quick service for wound dressings or renewing your prescription, so you won’t have to wait long.
Let’s not forget that aside from general practice, you can also go to CareExcellence Medical Center for some quick procedures. Why is that important, you ask?
It’s because you only need to go to the clinic instead of requesting a referral to another specialist. That’s convenient if you ask us!
Now, Dr. Rida Musbah is the first doctor who joined the clinic. Before working in Canada, he worked in the US, France, and Libya, adding to his expertise – impressive!
Moreover, he has earned many compliments for his thorough consultations. His patients said that they didn’t feel that Dr. Musbah was trying to rush them, which made them feel comfortable.
However, a typical complaint we heard is the poor customer service from the front desk. Some people we conversed with complained that they didn’t receive updates regarding the appointment and waitlist.
We also want to suggest calling them to check their current operating hours before booking an appointment. Their clinic hours can change depending on holidays and due to the pandemic.
5. Dr. Fredrick Kiggundu – Rapha Medical Centre

Pros
- Located near a residential area
- Offers MLS laser therapy
- Known for caring and hands-on approach
- Sometimes accepts Saturday appointments
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Currently not accepting new patients
Rapha Medical Centre is an Edmonton-based clinic that offers primary care services. If you’re looking for a GP in the city, this may be one of your choices to go to.
The clinic’s physician is Dr. Fredrick Kiggundu, who is also the medical director of Rapha Medical Centre. We were pretty impressed with his hands-on approach.
One of the most common compliments we heard about him is his caring personality. The people we conversed with even said they didn’t feel that he was trying to finish the consultation early and was very detailed about everything.
In fact, Dr. Kiggundu has been a GP for many of his patients for years! Some even for a decade, which we believe speaks about his knowledge and expertise in common medical conditions.
Another thing we appreciate is the medical clinic’s accessibility. Although it is closed on weekends, the staff makes way for Saturday appointments sometimes.
But remember to contact the clinic first. Saturday appointments will generally depend on the GP’s availability.
Rapha Medical Centre is also located just next to a residential area. If you live there, it’s just a few minutes away from your home! Convenient, right?
We also want to note an additional service they have: MLS laser therapy. It’s for minimizing pain and inflammation, which is good for treating sprains.
However, they’re not accepting new patients as of right now. We suggest checking the website every so often so you can see once they start accepting new patients.
