One of our favorite spots is Wascana Park, the city’s signature green space. Imagine 120 acres of lush beauty right in the heart of Regina, with winding trails perfect for walking or biking around the serene Wascana Lake.

This park is truly something to experience for yourself as it’s surrounded by trees and wide-open lawns—ideal for a casual picnic or tossing a football around. 

And get this, there are 70 picnic sites with public barbecues ready for you to use, no charge at all. 

And feeling a bit adventurous? You can even rent a canoe or kayak, take a ferry boat ride around the lake, or even ride a Segway—just the perfect activity to mix things up a bit, if you ask us! 

Pro Tip: For a more relaxed vibe, stroll through the Habitat Conservation Area. If you’ve got kids in tow, they’ll love the four playgrounds scattered around. And if you ever need a break, there are plenty of benches placed at scenic spots to rest your legs and soak in the view.

Speaking of must-see spots, you can’t miss the MacKenzie Art Gallery. It’s actually Saskatchewan’s oldest public art gallery, which is pretty cool. 

They’ve got this amazing slogan, “5,000 Years of Culture” and “5,000 Works of Art,” which really sums up the diversity and richness of their collection. If you’re into indigenous art, you’ll love the Kamplemarcher Collection they have on display.

Oh, and there’s this awesome café on site called Craft Services. It’s not just a place to grab a bite—it’s decorated with the quirky and eclectic works of Bill Burns, making it a unique spot to relax.

The gallery is super close to the Science Centre too, so you can easily spend a whole afternoon soaking in some culture and learning. It’s a perfect combo if you’re looking for a laid-back yet enriching day out in Regina.

There’s something special about Saturday mornings in Regina that we absolutely love, especially during the summer and fall! The heart of downtown comes alive with the vibrant Regina Farmers’ Market, where you can find the freshest produce in the breadbasket of Canada.

Vendors set up their stalls at City Square Plaza along 12th Street. If you’re unsure where that is, just look for the Mosaic Tower, Regina’s tallest building, and you’ll be right there. 

Also, the market offers a delightful mix of fresh and preserved foods, including baked goods, local honey, candy, and refreshing beverages.

If you start feeling peckish, food trucks are on hand to serve up tasty meals. Once you’ve grabbed your food, head to the picnic tables in City Square to enjoy a relaxed meal in the open air.

Pro Tip: Arrive early to snag the best produce and avoid the crowds. Plus, early mornings are perfect for striking up conversations with the vendors and learning more about their offerings. Many vendors also bring limited seasonal items that sell out quickly, so being an early bird has its perks!

If you’re a fan of Canadian Football, Regina is the place to be. The local pride for the Saskatchewan Roughriders is infectious, and catching a game at Mosaic Stadium is an absolute must if you’re in town during the season, which runs from June to October.

The Regina Floral Conservatory is one of those places you might easily overlook—but rest assured, it’s one you don’t want to miss. Housed behind a rather plain city services building, it might not catch your eye at first glance, but stepping inside is like entering a whole new world.

Also, the conservatory boasts a fascinating permanent collection featuring trees from all over the globe, vibrant blooming plants, and unique succulents. What’s really cool is that the displays rotate regularly, so you get to experience six different themes throughout the year.

Especially during the cold winter months, there’s something magical about walking into this warm, humid oasis. It’s the perfect place to get a dose of the tropics without leaving the city, and the best part? It’s completely free to visit.

Don’t worry, you won’t feel like you’re sitting in class for a long test or something. The Saskatchewan Science Centre, housed in a stunning building that blends old-world charm with modern design, is an absolute must-visit, especially if you have kids in tow.

The center features five signature exhibits that are as educational as they are entertaining. The Richardson Ag-Grow-Land exhibit delves into all things farming, complete with an interactive display where you can crawl to the top of a grain elevator—experiences that’ll get you closer to Canada’s scientific culture that we always love!

In the Building Connections exhibit, you get hands-on with the construction of homes, including an interactive display where you can actually build a house. Mapping Mayhem lets you rearrange buildings on a giant floor map, adding a fun twist to urban planning.

Pro Tip: Check their schedule for any special events or temporary exhibits that might be happening during your visit. It’s a great way to add even more fun and learning to your trip!

Enrich yourself in the history of the RCMP Heritage Center

In our books, there’s no better location than a place that gives you a clear feeling of what the city is all about; and the RCMP Heritage Centre is that place for Regina! 

This impressive modern building offers a captivating overview of the history of Canada’s first police force.

What you should really be excited about are the exhibits that tell the fascinating story of the RCMP, starting from its beginnings in 1873 as the North-West Mounted Police. 

You can also expect six distinct exhibits covering the evolution of the force, showcasing how it has grown and adapted over the years to become the modern crime-fighting group it is today.

This is something to definitely look forward to when learning more about our local forces who help us keep safe every single day!

Pro Tip: For a more hands-on experience, the center features two interactive displays. You can hop into a driving simulator to see if you’ve got what it takes to track down criminals behind the wheel of a police car.
