If there’s one thing Canadians love, it’s celebrations. C’mon, we have so many events and festivals in a year, I’m not sure how we manage to wake up in the morning! Okay, probably because of coffee!
And even though not all get a day off on Heritage Day, it’s still something Calgarians love celebrating. It’s a time to show off the rich cultural history of our country.
If you’re unsure what to do, we’ve got you covered! Here’s our carefully selected list of the best things to do in Calgary on Heritage Day!
What happens on Heritage Day in Calgary?
On Heritage Day, celebrate Canada’s rich history and architecture by watching performances, participating in events, eating local cuisine, and having fun with family and friends.
In Alberta, Heritage Day is celebrated on the first Monday of August. But some provinces don’t. Most Canadian provinces celebrate it on the third Monday in February.
Heritage Day is not a statutory holiday in Alberta, but it’s worth noting that some businesses and employees take time off to celebrate it. And even though some people don’t get a day off, there are still plenty of things to do to honour the day after work.
