Dr. Mary Machum of Crestwood Veterinary Centre stands out in our list as one of the seasoned veterinarians in Edmonton. 

With the number of animals she has handled since she graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1991, we think there is no doubt that your pets are in good hands with her.

We were also impressed to see that Dr. Machum has extensive credentials. 

Upon digging a bit into her background, we found that she served as a member of the Edmonton Humane Society and acted as a vet representative of the Edmonton Animal Control Advisory Board.

Regarding her capabilities, Dr. Machum’s specializations revolve around animal behaviour and internal medicine. So if your pet needs these two treatments, she could help.

But aside from that, she and her clinic also offer six more veterinary services. However, we think their orthopedic services stand out the most.

The clinic also has six types of bone treatment, including osteotomy (bone realignment), repair for ligament, and other types of fracture.

We also discovered that it has a history dating back to 1973. Clients inclined to trust institutions with decades of experience may find this data helpful.

Meanwhile, owners who visited Dr. Machum are satisfied with her results and treatment. Aside from being responsive in responding to their questions, most remember her for being careful and patient towards their pets.

However, the reception of clients towards the clinic’s front desk deviates from their overall positive remarks. We found a few instances wherein the customers felt ignored and unattended by the staff even though they visited during idle business hours.

Pets of any kind deserve nothing but top-notch treatment. So, if you need excellent medical care for your unusual pet, we think Dr. Heather Steele can offer her expertise. 

Dr. Steele has been in practice since 2000 and has a vibrant veterinary career. We discovered that she shared her skills in organizations dedicated to animal education (such as the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton) and animal rescuing.

Aside from her solid background, we think it is worth sharing that Dr. Steele is one of the Edmontonian vets who can take care of various pets. Her veterinary specialty is surgery, exotic animal treatment, and cancer treatment.

On the same note, Dr. Steele and her clinic can provide ten other veterinary services. But for us, the most noteworthy features are exotic companion medicine, wildlife medicine, and boarding services for small to medium-sized mammals.

And we are glad to find out that these features have satisfied the clients of Dr. Steele and her clinic. Also, they equally like her communicativeness to ensure owners are not in the dark about their pets’ status and the best possible solutions.

While on the topic of vet clinics, we also want to share that it has been operational since 1952. When placed side by side with other clinics, South Side Animal Hospital is the oldest vet clinic in Edmonton–and possibly, a pioneer.

But, getting the services of Dr. Steele has a minor downside: compared to most vet clinics, it has shorter operating hours. Nevertheless, we could only see this pose a problem if you are in an emergency.

With extensive experience and credentials, we think Dr. Cheryl Lewis of Millwoods East Veterinary Clinic can provide quality care to your pet. Dr. Lewis has over two decades of experience since graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.

She also served as a valuable member of various animal organizations, namely, the American Association of Feline Practitioners and Canadian Veterinary Dermatology. 

On top of that, we think by knowing that she is the president of the Edmonton Association of Small Animal Veterinarians, clients can feel more confident about the quality of her services.

And we are also relieved to find out that Dr. Lewis’s patients express similar satisfaction with her veterinary services and treatment of their animals. Many of them remember her as a thorough explainer concerning the cases of their pets.

Meanwhile, you can choose from the nine services that her clinic has. Of all its amenities, the three that stood out the most are pet grooming, emergency care, and the availability of Assisi Loop.

For those unfamiliar with the Assisi loop, it is a non-pharmaceutical and non-invasive device that uses low-level pulses to reduce pain and accelerate the healing of our pets.

However, there are a few complaints about Dr. Lewis’s clinic that we find concerning. Some clients mentioned that they felt overcharged because their fees were over the roof compared to the rates of other clinics.

Although inexpensive rates are not an indicator of quality services, we hope that Dr. Lewis and her clinic can address these issues as soon as possible.

Without a doubt, dogs are adorable pets, yet they can have aggressive behaviours that only experts can address. And if you find your dog in this scenario, we think assistance from a vet such as Dr. Nick Barbaza is the best resort.

That is because Dr. Barbaza specializes in canine behavioural cases and internal medicine. We also think it is noteworthy that he can provide ultrasonography and orthopedic services for small animals.

Dr. Barbaza is a vet from the Glenora Family Pet Clinic. Aside from that, he has been in practice since he graduated from Cluj-Napoca Veterinary Medical School in 2005 in Transylvania, Romania.

Meanwhile, the clinic has similarities with Dr. Barbaza in the number of services they can offer on the table. With 13 treatments, the Glenora Family Pet Clinic has more to offer than ers.

Although some of these services are usual in other clinics, some stood out the most for us. Specifically, the complimentary puppy training classes, microchip implants, and neutering for rabbits and guinea pigs stood out best for us.

Meanwhile, clients liked the results of Dr. Barbaza’s treatment and his overall approach. The people we talked to describe him as a professional and honest vet that would spend time explaining the case of their pets and the best course to take.

But things are not all rainbows and sunshine with Dr. Barbaza and his clinic. It is because we spotted a few instances where clients complained about mistakes in the quotations of the services they availed.

Despite that, we still commend the clinic for providing an immediate and upfront response that those were errors on their part.

Dr. Kim Romanufa is a vet whose services are the product of years of expertise and solid credentials. She has over two decades of experience since she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.

Aside from that, we also discovered that she also filled valuable roles in animal organizations in Alberta throughout her career. The most noteworthy is her years as the head of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.

Meanwhile, the services of Dr. Romanufa’s clinic, the Hermitage Veterinary Hospital, are as impressive as her vet background. It has a total of 13 different vet amenities, of which the house call services and senior pet care we find the most notable.

But aside from that, it has a unique feature that other clinics do not have: a cat-only exam room. Combined with the said features, we think aged cats would have a great time visiting here.

On the same note, clients who received veterinary care from the vet are happy with the results. May they be pet owners of cats or dogs, they remember the doctor as having patience in detailing the condition of their pets and the best option possible.

But despite all of these, we discovered that the clinic has customer service issues, particularly with updating clients. We spotted a few instances wherein the clients received late attendance from staff or wrong memorial items due to miscommunication.
