You know what we like about Punjabi Chaap Corner? Their food. They have a huge menu, including tandoori, tikka, dim sum, and Indian street food!

This vegetarian restaurant in Toronto sells delicious Indian food (they’re a good choice for authentic dishes). When we ate there, we really loved the variety of flavourful spices they incorporated in every dish (it’s like a flavour explosion in your mouth!).

Budget-wise, they’re also a solid choice because you can get a full meal with hearty portions for under $20—a really good deal in today’s economy! To top it off, they also offer affordable special combos.

As for the atmosphere, we like that it’s pretty casual with decent service. It’s a good choice for laid-back meals in Toronto.

Our only issue? They only have one restaurant in Toronto (even though they have lots in other places!). Nevertheless, they’re still our go-to for Indian vegetarian meals because of the large and delicious menu!

Pros

  • Large menu; plenty of options
  • Delicious and flavourful vegetarian dishes
  • Offers plenty of special combos
  • Affordably priced

Cons

  • Only one restaurant in Toronto

Flavourful meals and generous servings

“I recently had the pleasure of trying the veg burger at Punjabi chaap corner and it was an absolute delight. The patty, made from a flavorful blend of spices, was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Each bite was a harmonious mix of savory and fresh flavors. The burger was topped with fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a generous serving of caramelized onions, all perfectly complemented by a creamy avocado spread that added just the right amount of richness. The bun was soft yet sturdy, keeping everything together without getting soggy. This veg burger is a must-try for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious and satisfying meal, whether you’re a vegetarian or simply love a great burger!”

Great spot for cozy meals

“I recently dined at Punjabi Chaap Corner and had an amazing experience! The Tawa Paneer was perfectly cooked with a delightful blend of spices, and the Amritsari Chaap was tender, juicy, and bursting with smoky, tangy flavors. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for a cozy meal. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Punjabi cuisine!”

PLANTA is one of our favourite vegetarian restaurants in Toronto because of its sophisticated vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Upon entering, we were greeted by a trendy setting, which made our whole experience positive.

When we checked the menu, we were pleased with the variety of 100% plant-based options. There are breakfast and brunch meals, sushi, salads, and happy hour snacks (but our favourite are the small plate options).

The food here is delicious and definitely memorable. It’s the kind of vegetarian place you can go to over and over again because the flavours never disappoint.

But the downside lies in the prices. It’s easy to find yourself spending way too much than you initially planned.

Nonetheless, the quality of food is worth every loonie. We loved the interesting flavours of their fancy Asian cuisine.

We also had a good dining experience because of the friendly service. You do need to reserve a table because it tends to get super busy.

Pros

  • 100% plant-based
  • Wide variety of food choices
  • Trendy setting
  • Fancy Asian cuisine

Cons

  • Expensive prices
  • Gets super busy

    Fresh food and good portions

“I’ve been wanting to visit PLANTA for years! Finally I had the chance to drop in with my mom (who’s not usually open to trying new foods). Well I’m glad I came, everything as AMAZING! The food was fresh, good portions, and served quickly. And my mother LOVED IT. I want to especially shout out our waiter Cody, he was absolutely the best waiter I have ever come across, he was friendly, made great recommendations, he was patient and so kind. I also want to shout Amir with the amazing hair! He was such a sweetheart and I thank him for the treat <3. I will absolutely visit again…and again.”

    Delicious meals worth the drive

“Delicious and light food. Something new on the menu every time I go. I had to take pauses between bites to appreciate the flavors. 4 times in 3 days I travelled a long distance to enjoy the PlantaQueen experience.

Vegetarian options: Fully vegan restaurant so obviously good for vegetarians also.”

One of our favourite vegetarian restaurants in Toronto is VegeDelight. It’s a Chinese restaurant that also serves Thai cuisine!

What we love is the healthy and nutritious vegetarian meals. Even if you’re a meat lover, you can order a meal that tastes so delicious you’ll forget you’re not eating meat!

We also like the menu, which includes rice meals, noodles, and soups. We enjoyed the spicy dishes because they had the perfect amount of spice without overpowering the flavours.

They’re affordable as well, especially if you count on the portion sizes. You’ll basically leave the restaurant with a full tummy because the dishes are hearty.

It has a very casual vibe, so don’t expect fancy meals. But the customer service could use an improvement since they tend to be slow.

We did have a problem looking for them because they’re quite hard to find even though they’re located downtown. Not too much of an issue, though!

    Pros

    • Affordable prices
    • Serves nutritious vegetarian meals
    • Wide variety of Asian meals
    • Large portions

    Cons

    • Slow customer service
    • A little hard to find

    Great options on the menu

“First time trying this restaurant and it was better than expected. As a strict vegetarian, surprisingly they had some great options which were also very tasty. I would recommend this place if you’re vegan, vegetarian or on an alkaline diet. Reasonably priced and good place to dine in or take out.”

    Reasonably priced

“Amazing vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown downtown Toronto. Lots of options to choose from and the dishes feel and taste very authentic. They offer free hot tea to start with and free Mr Lin’s dessert. Great experience, great service! Very reasonable prices as well, highly recommend”

One of our first choices for on-the-go vegetarian meals is Vegholic. It’s located in Yonge and Dundas, so it’s super easy to visit when you’re craving healthy meals.

There’s not a large menu, though. But honestly, it’s not that big of a problem because their meals are easy to eat when you’re in a hurry.

They mainly service tortilla wraps and burgers. You still get plenty of options because you can have your food on rice or on fries (a cool take on burritos!).

Don’t get fooled by the food names—they serve vegan meals, so you’re 100% sure you won’t eat any meat! We do like how flavourful their meals are, which are very loaded and healthy.

It’s just unfortunate they’re not ideal for laid-back dining. You see, they’re a take-out restaurant, which means you order and eat at home or office.

Other than that, they’re a perfect choice for quick meals at reasonable prices!

    Pros

    • Ideal for on-the-go meals
    • 100% no meat
    • Dishes are loaded and healthy
    • Reasonable prices

    Cons

    • Small menu
    • Takeout orders only

    Great value for money

“A vegan food paradise! A must try vegan place for all food lovers. The staff is amazing, friendly and helpful. The food has great taste and great value for money. My go too burrito wrap is the Chicken Burrito (IT’S VEGANNNN!) Located at Yonge and Gerrard intersection! Student discount can be availed too🤩”

    Good spot for quick meals

“I couldn’t believe it wasn’t real chicken! So colourful and delicious. Will definitely be coming back many many times again. Great lunch spot or perfect for a quick grab dinner. Very happy to see a different variety of vegan options becoming available downtown!”

If you’re looking for an extraordinary vegetarian dining experience, we highly suggest Avelo Restaurant in Toronto. They offer plant-based cuisine, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally eating meat!

Upon entering, we were impressed with the restaurant’s ambience. It’s tucked away in a Victorian townhome, and the space screams luxury dining (perfect for romantic dates!).

The food is not your ordinary cuisine. It was very thrilling because you basically get five to eight course meals, which are beautifully plated surprises (you won’t know what it is until the food is on your table).

We do appreciate that they can accommodate dietary restrictions, even if your meal is a surprise.

You should know that the prices are not cheap. It’s $85 to $135 per person and an additional $45 to $75 for wine pairing.

They do take a hit with their availability, as they’re only open for dinner five days a week. Every reservation is worth it, though!

    Pros

    • Plant-based cuisine
    • Serves course meals
    • Beautifully plated meals
    • Incredible atmosphere
    • Accommodates dietary restrictions

    Cons

    • Expensive prices
    • Limited availability

    Truly unique dining experience

“It was a pretty unique experience! We had a five-course degustation paired with wine. The meals tasted amazing, served in an artistic way. The accompanying explanations about the ingredients and the paired wine were fascinating. We were especially surprised by an edible garden and the lobster mushroom servings. Highly recommended for any special occasion or just as a good self-treat.”

Every dish is beautiful and yummy

“I’ve been wanted to check out Avelo for a long time and it did not disappoint!  Every course was beautiful and delicious.  The staff were great as well and put a lot of care into every dish.  I will be daydreaming about the sourdough rolls!  Avelo is a truly unique dinner experience and we’ll definitely be back.”
