Aside from tattoos, this shop also does piercings. They utilize highly skilled piercers and stock luxury, implant-grade jewelry for safety-conscious clients. 

They have a strict policy against piercing guns, which just goes to show that they take your safety very seriously. You get a clinical level of cleanliness that often exceeds basic health board requirements.

You can also book technical services like laser tattoo removal right in the same building.

Because of their immense popularity, you should expect to pay premium hourly rates here. And because they don’t cater to spontaneous, walk-in requests, booking a session with their lead creators often requires waiting several months.

They offer a massive range of styles, vegan-friendly inks, and specialized cosmetic services like permanent makeup. The founders actively mentor new apprentices, keeping their creative energy fresh and dynamic.

You’ll need to plan ahead if you want to get tattooed here, though. They strictly require appointments and non-refundable deposits, making spontaneous walk-ins virtually impossible.

I recently got a tattoo on my shoulder here and I couldn’t be happier with the result! The entire team was incredibly attentive and professional throughout the process. A huge shoutout to Ashley—she is a truly talented artist and did an amazing job with my tattoo. The staff is so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind. They made me feel right at home. The founder of La Maison uses her management background to run an ego-free, beautiful boutique space in Gastown. 

They supply stress balls, fidget toys, and disposable underwear to make sure you feel completely comfortable. In fact, when my best friend got her sleeve started here, the artist provided privacy screens and offered us coffee right away.

Over twelve resident artists work here, supplemented by an awesome rotation of international guest creators. This means you can easily find someone who nails your exact preferred style.

The studio sits on the third floor of a secure building, requiring a buzzer code to enter. This extra step and their strict appointment-only policy might annoy anyone looking for a quick, spontaneous session.

Best tattoo shop hands down. I’ve been too many and this far surpasses the rest of them. Danielle in particular is a one of one artist. Could not ask for a better more creative and technically perfect artist. Going to be coming here for a very long time!

You can often drop by for spontaneous ideas because they actually accept daily walk-ins. Their massive roster covers everything from traditional Japanese work to intricate illustrative styles. 

We love that they maintain hospital-grade sterilization standards using top-tier autoclave equipment approved by local health authorities.

The only drawback is accessibility. Reaching the main shop involves climbing a steep flight of stairs in a historic building.

You also can’t get price estimates over the phone or email, requiring an in-person visit first. They do offer an alternative accessible room nearby, but you have to request it ahead of time.

I have multiple tattoos done by April which look just as good as the day I got them (some are years old). Her technique is super gentle which makes healing a breeze  and sitting for longer tattoos much more bearable. She’s a super talented artist and overall lovely person to spend time with while dealing with the pain of getting tattooed (super attentive, reads the room for what you need during the session). Will definitely be back!
