Accommodating, responsive, and affordable
“I currently use Global Senior care for my 93 yrs old grandmother and we are very happy with their service. Their care workers are knowledgeable and friendly and accommodating, the company is always very communicative and provides a reliable service which gives you a peace of mind that your family is in safe hands. They also have one of the most affordable rates for private home care and provide excellent service, we highly recommend them.”

Home care providers are very attentive
“We used Global for my father’s care post hospitalization and we cannot say enough about how caring and attentive their care staff has been. They are extremely diligent, and went above and beyond to make sure my father had a smooth transition to home and was comfortable. Their caregiver was caring and followed the detailed care plan they created. We will not hesitate to hire them again and we found their rates are more reasonable then other companies”

We chose Big Hearts Home Care because they’re an award-winning home care provider in Vancouver, which speaks volumes about their quality of care. It’s commendable they also frequently donate to charitable programs.
Their range of services is pretty much complete for senior care, offering companionship, Alzheimer’s and dementia support, errands and transportation, palliative care, and live-in care.
What’s incredible is they’re not exclusive to elderly clients. They’re also available for individuals with physical and mental disabilities, moms who need postpartum assistance and accident victims.
The client-caregiver matching is impeccable as well. During our research, we learned that they match not just based on the care plan but also in terms of personality.
Additionally, we appreciate that they have caregivers who speak the most common languages in the area. However, their accessibility takes a dip because they only service the lower mainland.
They’re still an ideal choice because their prices are competitive, which makes them accessible to all kinds of budgets.
Pros
- Award-winning home care provider
- Provides a wide variety of services
- Not exclusive to senior care only
- Matches caregivers based on care plan and personality
- Prices are competitive
Cons
- Only available in the lower mainland
Very patient when caring for clients
“Everyone connected to Big Hearts Home Care is well trained and up to date in caring for seniors in particular. They are very patient and have a calmness about them that soothes the anxious client. We found the caregiver we had to be an excellent choice for us.”

One of our picks is Just Like Family Home Care because of their highly trained caregivers. During our inquiry, we learned that besides the usual training, they also receive supplementary education to ensure they follow all the guidelines.
Plus, we like their flexible hours—they’re available morning, night, and 24/7! Their home care providers also speak in other languages, which makes them super accessible to many Vancouver residents.
Another thing we like is their care services are not limited to the elderly because they also cater to individuals of all ages with disabilities. It’s just a bummer that their services are a little more limited than others on our list.
Their offerings are respite care, personal care, housekeeping for seniors, specialized care, post-hospitalization recovery, disability support, and companionship. Unfortunately, this doesn’t include post-partum care.
Nonetheless, they remain a top pick because of their high level of service. Based on what we’ve seen, their home care providers have been professional and compassionate.
Pros
- Speaks in other languages
- Home care providers get supplemental training
- Offers disability support for all ages
- Hours are super flexible
Cons
- No post-partum services
Goes above and beyond
“This is a wonderful company to work with. Lorraine is caring and compassionate and gets on any problem swiftly and accurately. The girl that cared for my husband was beyond professional. She was funny, kind and caring and went out of her way many times to accommodate any unexpected needs. The girls have great work ethic and genuinely care for their clients. I would and I have recommended this service to many of my friends to care for their family members. It was assuring for me to know my loved ones were in good hands and it alleviated a lot of stress for me. Thank you for everything!!”

What we like about Home Instead is their services are all about making life comfortable for the elderly. They actually have a lot of services, which is convenient because they can provide any type of assistance.
They offer Alzheimer’s and dementia care, personal care, chronic illness care, transportation, companionship, and hospice and palliative care. During our research, we were also glad that their services are tailored to every need.
We do want to highlight their home care providers for providing consistent care. They’ve shown kindness, patience, compassion, and genuine concern, which are important qualities for a caregiver who will take care of your loved one.
It was unfortunate when we learned during our inquiry that their care services are for seniors only. It does limit their range of services.
Still, we like their tailored plans focused on making things easier based on needs and budget. Instead of hard selling, they provide recommendations so you can choose the best type of support.
Pros
- Has complete senior care services
- Known for consistent care
- Offers tailored packages and plans
Cons
- For seniors only
Highly qualified home care providers
“Janine and her team at Home Instead gave us peace of mind exactly when we needed it. My mother needed more care than her senior’s community could provide. Quickly and with a great deal of understanding of the key issues, Janine did an assessment and had a qualified nurse in place. They performed key nursing tasks, as well as providing some much needed companionship. Professional, personable, and knowledgeable, I would highly recommend Janine and the team at Home Instead Vancouver.”

Vancouver’s Qualicare Home Care became one of our choices because they’re very accessible. Their coverage area is pretty vast, from downtown to south Vancouver.
Additionally, we like that they try to accommodate families outside of their service area. It makes them accessible, no?
They also offer 24/7, year-round support. We were quite happy to have reached them quickly when we first inquired.
We think they have all the bases covered, service-wise. They provide holistic home care and specialized care services, including assistance with daily tasks, companionship during leisurely outings, and care for seniors with cognitive disabilities.
Although we like their care services, we think they’re not as extensive compared to others. For example, their offerings don’t include clients of all ages with disabilities.
But it’s awesome they have many healthcare providers, such as registered nurses, physiotherapists, and personal support workers. Even though the availability may vary by location, we think it’s okay since they coordinate with families pretty well.
Pros
- Has a vast coverage area
- Tries to accommodate outside of service area
- Offers complete senior care services
- Has many healthcare providers
Cons
- Doesn’t cater to all ages
- Caregiver availability will vary by location
Overall incredible service
“Cannot say enough good things about Qualicare, the owner, and the care workers. Super responsive, flexible scheduling, reasonable rates, very competent, kind, caring staff. Couldn’t ask for better in-home care or help accompanying someone to medical appointments, etc.”
Barbara Fultner, Google Review
Flexible and goes the extra mile
“I can’t begin to say enough good things about the Qualicare team. Warren is a great communicator and willing to be flexible to meet the needs of each individual client. And the team is beyond amazing. We employ Qualicare for housekeeping support for an aging parent, and we were lucky enough to have Jeff assigned to us. Jeff is incredibly kind, honest, detail oriented, and really goes the extra mile to make sure all needs are being addressed and met. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with Qualicare’s service, prices, and thoughtful approach to caring for each one of their customers. I highly recommend them.”
