There’s a reason why Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant has become a staple for authentic Chinese dining in downtown Toronto. Honestly, it lives up to its reputation.

The overall vibe is one of the reasons we love this place—it continues to offer a push cart, a fading service in Toronto’s culinary scene. It adds something unique yet traditional to your experience!

The menu? There are loads of delicious choices on the cart. You get a variety of dishes as the staples are right there, including our staff favourites: dim sum and pork buns.

They do get lots of customers on weekends, so the food cart might not even reach your table. Nonetheless, their customer service impressed us because they’ll deliver the food to your table if it’s not available on the cart!

Dim Sum King is an overall solid choice, budget-wise. The affordable prices are an added bonus on top of the food selection, delicious taste, and authentic experience!

Pros

  • Authentic Chinese dining experience
  • Variety of choices on the cart
  • Affordable prices
  • Great customer service
  • Located downtown

Cons

  • Very busy during peak hours

    Food is top-notch

This is a great spot for dim sum, it’s buzzing with all sorts of people and the food is top notch. I love how they come around with the carts, it’s not as common these days. All the staples were there and they were delicious. Highlights are the turnip cake and the fried dumplings but honestly everything is good. Definitely a must when I’m back in Toronto.”

    Authentic cart-lady style dim sum

“This is where you go for authentic cart-lady style dimsum. No fancy modern revisions to classic dishes. Just delicious food and an old school comfortable atmosphere.”

Heirloom Toronto is the kind of place you chase after because you’ll see it in different locations across Toronto. And frankly, it’s easy to see why it’s sought after.

The menu brings in pretty much all kinds of dishes you can easily eat on the curbside. Just imagine munching on a Szechuan fried chicken sandwich, Baja fried fish tacos, poutine, and vegetarian/vegan options—that’s quite a variety for a small kitchen!

When it comes to taste, this food cart doesn’t disappoint. The dishes were all the rave among our staff, and it helped that the customer service was incredible.

It was impressive how efficient the service was, even with lots of people in line. These guys really know how to work a busy food truck!

Unfortunately, this doesn’t have a permanent location. You can only taste the food when they’re at an event or if you rent their truck. But the delicious meals are worth scouring the city for.

    Pros

    • Various food choices
    • Vegetarian and vegan options
    • Efficient service
    • Available for catering

    Cons

    • No permanent location

      Absolutely loved the food

“We had Heirloom cater our BBQ event, and WOW, everyone absolutely loved the food. They arrived on time and had everything prepped perfectly before our event kicked off. The staff were incredibly friendly, and Ami was awesome! I’m so happy we chose Heirloom—they will definitely be our go-to for future BBQs. You guys are the best! THANK YOU!”

      Did not disappoint

“I was recommended Heirloom by many friends. Tried it out for the first time at a festival and it did not disappoint! The food is definitely worth the price and the staff are so kind and helpful. Would recommend to anyone!”

There’s a food truck in Toronto that hits all the right spots—Geddi Route Food Truck has become our go-to for delicious Indian street food. It has two locations in Brampton, too!

The Indian fusion food impressed us—just imagine eating burgers, tacos, and pasta, but with Indian flavours. Even with a small menu, there’s a decent variety!

It’s worth noting that the meals are 100% vegetarian, but the meat lovers on our staff still loved the food! These guys really deliver when it comes to taste and quality, and even the portion sizes were impressive.

And when we say they deliver, they literally do! Their Brampton location is a tiny hurdle due to the drive, but you can order for delivery and catering.

Geddi Route earns points for their affordable menu, as most things are under $10. And that’s on top of their efficient and accommodating service, especially when it comes to food requests.

      Pros

      • 100% vegetarian meals
      • Available for delivery and catering
      • Menu is mostly under $10
      • 2 locations

      Cons

      • Located in Brampton

Some of the best tacos I’ve ever had

“Everything is fusion and it’s awesome. Had some of the best tacos I’ve ever had… tasted like it came out of a high-end restaurant. Portion sizes were pretty good – two tacos in an order.”

        Jason Millington, Google Review

Flavors were bold, fresh, and expertly crafted

“I had an amazing experience at this food truck! The flavors were bold, fresh, and expertly crafted, with each dish packed with unique spices. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely a must-try for foodies looking for a delicious and convenient meal!”

We love a food cart in Toronto that brings sweet treats! On Third Thought is one of our top choices for delicious treats, and there are several reasons we fell in love.

They offer wine and gelato, and if that doesn’t impress you yet, we know what will. These guys actually serve gelato that you won’t have to think twice about!

That’s because they serve vegan-friendly and allergen-conscious gelato. There are literally no nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, and sesame—a really cool way to make sweets accessible to strict dietary needs!

Service-wise, we were impressed. There are two food carts available, a full-size and a mini, which are very helpful for any venue, small or large.

Be warned that they’re a busy bunch, so book as early as you can. On a good note, their food carts are affordable to rent and you get a complete service that includes setup, attendant, and custom menu board!

        Pros

        • Vegan-friendly and allergen-conscious
        • Two cart sizes available
        • Complete service with every rental
        • Fairly priced rental fees

        Cons

        • May be tough to book

          Delicious gelato

“Delicious gelato, regularly rotate flavours, staff are friendly. They also do fun collabs with other brands which is how I first discovered them. Would love to try the wine & gelato flight and sit on the patio next time ❤️”

          Rylee Finigan, Google Review

          A+ flavour selection

“Delicious VEGAN gelato with an a+ flavor selection. I had the cokie crunch (or cookie something , can’t remember the exact name) and orange creamsicle, both were delicious. Portions are definitely not large, but it felt like a perfect amount to hit the spot.”

Dang Good BBQ brings all the delicious meats to Toronto. This hidden gem serves BBQ and smoked meats and has charmed its way into our tummies. But how?

Imagine a sandwich that’s trying so hard to hold together the juicy meats.  It’s a little messy to eat, but that’s one of the things that make it special, at least for us.

When we visited this Toronto food cart, we were pleasantly surprised with the servings. The tender meat was overflowing and there was a good amount of sauce and toppings.

Customers we conversed with also liked the affordable prices, especially for a good-sized meal. They also appreciated the fast service because even when busy, the staff was efficient.

But good things aren’t meant to be shared every day, at least in this case. They’re only available during events and the restaurant is open 4 days a week.

Nonetheless, we believe the portions and flavours are worth all the wait.

          Pros

          • Big servings
          • Reasonable prices
          • Fast service
          • Has a regular restaurant

          Cons

          • Limited availability

            Great staff and amazing food

“Such a cute place, great staff and amazing food. I had the brisket sandwich and mac and cheese. The brisket had caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms. The combination was perfect. The smoked brisket was tender and cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was delicious. Loved it. Can’t wait to come back and try the other items on the menu.”

            Van Quach, Google Review

            This place is amazing

“This place is AMAZING! We had the brisket which was succulent, juicy and fork tender. The Mac and Cheese was deliciously and surprisingly saucy and cheesy and those bread crumbs on top were just a lovely homemade touch. I was literally all melty and floating on a cloud after I ate … so incredible!!! Two of us shared everything and it was the perfect amount of food (in fact, we had some leftover Mac and Cheese for a late-night snack)! There’s a tiny little counter for eating, so this is primarily takeout but well worth it!”
