Finovo is a founding member of the Financial Planning Association of Canada (FPAC), which is all about setting standards in the industry to ensure trustworthiness.

During our research, we also found that their services are unique. One of their offerings is the Quickstart Financial Plan, which is aimed at busy professionals who want convenience since this is customised based on life situations.

We were also fond of their Financial Clarity Meeting service, which is priced at only $500. What’s good about this is it provides expert advice for individuals who want to dip their toes in financial planning.

Moreover, we really like this because it’s a good start to building the client’s retirement strategy. Plus, the clients we conversed with loved how their financial advisors provided attainable solutions to their financial goals.

It’s also worth highlighting that Finovo Financial offers monthly subscription plans. We were thrilled that their monthly plans are all about giving expert advice on various facets of the client’s financial issues.

Since Finovo Financial offers financial packages, we found that their rates are always transparent. There are no surprise charges, which we appreciate.

Pros

  • Award-winning financial advisor
  • Has an A+ BBB rating
  • Has a faster financial strategy
  • Provides flat fees; no hidden charges

Cons

  • Not ideal for large business owners

In our books, one of the most qualified financial advisors in Calgary is Ideal Life Experience. They won the 2023 Best Financial Fiduciary Advisory Firm – Alberta from the New World Report Awards.

Moreover, they were also the Financial Services Provider of the Year 2023/24 by Corporate Livewire Global Awards and the Financial Advisory Firm of the Year 2023 in Calgary from Acquisition International. Clearly, we were impressed!

An icing on the cake is their BBB accreditation, ensuring they will handle customer complaints promptly. We were happy to learn they even received an A+ rating.

Their services are pretty thorough as well, which we absolutely approve of. This includes family budgeting, major purchases, retirement planning, tax minimization, and estate planning.

But what we were more impressed by is their one-of-a-kind approach. Instead of sticking to traditional methods only, they will provide a plan that will combine all goals into one financial strategy, which will also take less time.

During our research, we learned that their method provided financial independence to clients. We also talked with clients who have retired and reached their financial goals, which we believe indicates greatly how effective the financial advice was.

However, we learned that Ideal Life Experience focuses on individuals and families. Unfortunately, that means they aren’t a go-to for corporations.

Nevertheless, we believe Calgarians will be happy with the rates. They provide flat fees that don’t have hidden charges!

Pros

  • A registered portfolio management firm
  • Uses evidence-based strategies
  • Financial dashboard is free
  • Uses modern technology

Cons

  • Minimum account is $500,000

What we like about Camber Private Wealth is they’re not your typical financial advisor. From our research, we learned that they’re a registered portfolio management firm.

Furthermore, it means they are able to manage investment portfolios on behalf of their clients. We found that really convenient, especially when there are many investments.

One of our favourite things about their services is that they are all about gaining financial clarity. During our surveys, we learned that they offer personalised services for each client, ensuring the best possible strategies.

Plus, we think it’s commendable that Camber Private Wealth uses evidence-based investment strategies. This means that their methods and approaches are not based on speculations, which we really appreciate.

Additionally, we think it’s nice that they follow the diversification technique. Instead of putting all the eggs in one basket, they will spread investments across multiple areas to minimise risks.

Another impressive feature is they use modern technology to ensure their financial dashboard is accurate for better tracking. We believe this can put clients at ease—and it’s free!

But during our research, we learned that they may not be a good fit for everybody. We found that their minimum account size is $500,000, which is a little higher than other financial advisors in Calgary.

Pros

  • Has a highly qualified team
  • Caters to individuals and business owners
  • Offers no-obligation consultations
  • Doesn’t have an account minimum

Cons

  • No in-person consultations

Up Financial was founded in 2015 by financial advisors who used to work at a major firm. Because of that, we believe they have the necessary knowledge to handle simple and complex financial goals.

We also like that they have a highly qualified team of financial advisors. They have Certified Financial Planners and Chartered Investment Managers, which we believe says a great deal about their wealth of information.

Their services are catered to individuals and business owners, which is something we appreciate because it means more Calgarians can hire them. Plus, we love that they can handle complex financial planning, such as trusts and estates.

Furthermore, we were happy to learn that they offer comprehensive financial planning services. They also provide investment management, risk management, and corporate financial planning for large businesses.

Another thing we were pleased about is their thorough, no-obligation consultations for new clients. However, this isn’t available for in-person meetings, which is a little bit of a letdown.

Nonetheless, our findings showed that Up Financial clients were happy with their approach because of the personalised service and great attention to detail. Some clients have even recommended them to family and friends.

Finally, we want to mention that Up Financial doesn’t set an account minimum. This is something we approve of because it makes them accessible to many Calgarians, even without a high net worth.
