Pros
- Offers integrated event strategy and execution, event production, and event consulting support
- Has won several awards
- Has creative strategists and event producers
Cons
- Doesn’t provide payment method plans
- Small team
Boom Goes the Drum is an event planning agency that provides integrated event strategy and execution, event production, and event consulting support.
They offer a wide array of services for corporate and cultural conferences, galas & celebrations, fundraisers & not-for-profit events, and marketing and branding events.
Their credibility is undisputed, having won several awards such as special events nominee for the Gala Awards in 2018 and Canadian Event Industry Awards winner in 2017.
They have an impressive team of creative strategists and event producers, which we like. This ensures that there is strong ideation and execution in place, which guarantees the calibre of the events they mount.
We just wish they would provide payment plan options, as some clients may be working on tighter budgets and won’t be able to pay upfront.
We learned that their service only accepts limited clients, and we think that this is because they are a small team consisting of four members.
In our opinion, this may be one of the reasons why they are reportedly slow to respond to queries.

Pros
- Hands-on service from venue sourcing to onsite execution
- Has been in the industry for 17 years
- Offers complementary, value-added services
Cons
- eports on slow response to messages and calls
- Doesn’t provide free booking consultations
Another top-notch event planner and independent agency on our list is Jennifer James Events.
Jennifer James’ inborn problem-solving skills led her to achieve her goal as an event planner. She has been in the industry for 17 fruitful years.
The company has a trademark of excellence as they were recognised as the most influential event professionals by the BizBash 250 Canada in 2019.
We like that they provide a wide array of services such as recognition and appreciation events, product launch, corporate events, Christmas parties and many more.
What we also like about the service that the company provides is that they are task-oriented and really focused on their service, from venue sourcing, planning of designs and themes, entertainment and technical productions, to onsite execution.
We appreciate that they also have great partners in advertising, design & negotiation, media relations, and event marketing budget/event auditing.
Not only does this make them more credible as a company – this also provides clients the convenience of trusting them to secure other relevant suppliers for their event.
However, unlike their competitors, they do not offer free booking consultations to learn further about price, event specifics, and so on.
We’re just also worried as we’ve read reports that they don’t promptly reply to customers’ calls and messages.

Pros
- Providing service for more than 20 years
- Offers event services for weddings, corporate, sporting events, and social events.
- Offers structured payment method
- 1-hour complimentary consultation
Cons
- Doesn’t provide marketing strategy
- Small team
LP events has been in the industry for more than 20 years. They are the recipients of the Wedbliz Appreciation Award for outstanding service from 2016 to 2019, which is a testament to their credibility.
They offer event services for weddings, corporate, sporting events, and social events.
Their events have cost anywhere from $25,000 to $250,000, which is a little higher than what other companies would usually charged.
That said, we like that they do everything they can to produce a budget that clients would be happy with, in terms of capacity and ability to nail the brief.
We like that they do staggered payments: a 50% non-refundable fee to secure your event, 25% due 90 days before the exact event, and the remaining balance due 30 days prior to the event.
You don’t need to worry about scouting for other vendors because they have the best partners that will help your event.
They also provide a one-hour complimentary consultation to determine the needs of your event. Plus, they offer formal proposals after the call, and they will also give a customised quotation based on your brief.
A nice add-on to their already-impressive service lineup would be to provide marketing insight for events, which other companies are already doing.
We would just advise you to connect with them early, as they have a lean team and you may have to reserve your slot early to make sure they can accommodate your event on that day.

Pros
- 20 years of experience in event planning
- Specialises in planning corporate events, including associations, nonprofits, and small businesses.
- Shoulders logistics
Cons
- Don’t have a portfolio on their website
- Handles corporate events only
Another amazing event planner on our list is Mosaic. They have been doing event planning for 20 years.
This event planning company specialises in planning corporate events, including associations, nonprofits, and small businesses.
One thing we like about this company is that they are very innovative with their ideas. For example, they don’t just stick to event planning itself; they also do marketing events strategy to build a brand presence in a tactical plan to excite the target audience.
In connection to that, we were glad that they provided a marketing event strategy for every event package without charging a separate fee.
We also like that they also now mount online events, which is becoming a viable platform for many brands these days. Clients who are technologically-challenged will be relieved to know that they will take care of all the requirements for this, together with the program flow.
However, their focus is solely on corporate events, which is a shame because the wedding industry would be a great area to explore for livestreamed events. You may want to check out our other entries on this list if you need professional assistance for a personal occasion.
Also, it would be nice if they provided access to their portfolio online, as a lot of companies assess the event planner’s body of work before even reaching out for a quotation.

Pros
- Expert in wedding events
- Offers a wide selection of service packages.
- Collaborates with well-known partner vendors around Calgary
Cons
- Handles a limited number of clients at a time
- Coordination and full planning are a bit pricier than other wedding event planners
Boutiq Weddings and Events has been around since 2010.
They offer five different packages: full planning, partial planning, month of coordination, elopement package, and their Dutch weddings.
We want to highlight their Dutch Weddings, which is their latest offering. We think it’s such a unique concept as they partnered with My Forever Weddings in Amsterdam to help clients have an amazing wedding destination wedding in Holland.
They also collaborate with well-known partner vendors around Calgary, from designers to flowers, cakes, DJs, decor, marriage commissioners, and wedding photographers.
This takes a lot of stress out from engaged couples, who can just sit back and let them take care of securing the vendors.
Although they have samples of their work on their website, there’s not a lot of it – so we think they can improve on this more. It’s good, though, that they’ve already published a blog on their Dutch Weddings to create awareness and generate buzz.
Their service also comes with a free consultation, and from that you will be able to discuss your dream wedding set up.
Though they provide free consultation, the charge for just coordinating and full planning is a little bit higher than other wedding event planners.
They’re just a tad more expensive than other wedding planners. For instance, coordination starts at $1800 and full wedding planning at $4500, slightly pricier than most others.
They also apparently take on a limited amount of clients at a time, to ensure that each wedding gets the same high attention to detail that it deserves.
