Pros
- Has several branches in Calgary
- Has a large team
- Easy appointment booking
- Staff is responsive
- Offers home visits
Cons
- Closes earlier on Fridays
- Lack of a price guide
In 1993, Hearing Loss Clinic opened its first branch to provide hearing care services to Canadians. Now, it has grown to nine clinics in Calgary and British Columbia.
We highly appreciate their active support by giving back to the community. This is possible through supporting the initiatives of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which gives accessible healthcare all over the world.
We’re glad to know that they have a large team of professionals. They have audiologists and registered hearing aid practitioners.
Additionally, we like the convenience of having the list of clinical staff readily available on the website. We think this can help clients get to know the specialist a bit before going through a procedure.
We like the detailed booking form on the website for easy access. You can input your preferred branch and date, which is highly convenient instead of going back and forth with emails.
Moreover, the client experience team is quick to respond to bookings. We really like the accommodation, especially for those that need ear wax removal immediately.
In this case, some patients received a response early in the morning despite sending the form the previous day. Some even got appointments on the day the staff responded, which was highly convenient.
Along with that, the audiologists were personable and professional. The clients we talked with appreciated the care and patience of the staff, which we believe can help with nervous patients.
On the downside, there’s a lack of a price guide for the client’s convenience. You should also know that Hearing Loss Clinic closes slightly earlier on Fridays.
Going back to the positive side, they do home visits for hearing tests and follow-up appointments. In addition, their team brings portable equipment, so you won’t have to leave your home if you can’t go to their clinic.

Pros
- Reasonable rates
- Has many clinics across Canada
- Offers free hearing tests
- Uses modern procedures only
Cons
- Longer email response time
- No home visits
As one of Canada’s largest hearing aid providers, HearingLife has built over 250 clinics nationwide. Over 700,000 clients have trusted them since being established in 1904.
They offer free hearing tests that last for 60 minutes. But remember that this applies only to people aged 19 and above.
In addition, there’s a free consultation where you can get your hearing test results. You don’t need a doctor’s referral for the test as well.
But we recommend booking an appointment by calling them or via online chat for faster response. It’s because there’s a lead time of two business days for email inquiries and callbacks.
As for their ear wax removal, we think you’ll like the reasonable cost. They charge only $49 per ear.
Their processes are through the manual method, ear irrigation, and micro-suction. They don’t use the traditional way of syringing.
This is because they use modern and proven procedures for the best outcome. We appreciate this because it shows that they follow current clinical protocols.
It’s worth mentioning that all hearing care professionals wear protective gear and follow the guidelines of the local government. In addition, all patients will have phone screening for Covid-19 symptoms.
Although, we hope they can do home visits in the future. We believe this will be convenient for the elderly or persons with disabilities who cannot drive a distance.
We noticed the lack of readily available information on their professionals. Since some patients get nervous during medical procedures, we think adding credentials will help ease their minds.
Despite that, we’re glad that HearingLife has received a lot of positive feedback from past patients. They were professional and considerate, making sure that each patient felt comfortable.

Pros
- Audiologist-owned company
- Different hearing treatments available
- Staff is friendly and approachable
- Responsive to inquiries
Cons
- Closes early on Fridays
- Lack of price guide
Soundwave Hearing Care is an audiologist-owned company that specialises in providing hearing aid services in Alberta. It has a team composed of audiologists and hearing aid practitioners.
We’re impressed with the team’s readily available credentials online, which we appreciate for the client’s peace of mind.
On the other hand, it would be advantageous to include a price guide for easy access. We believe this can help with the client’s budget plans.
Although it seems they don’t offer ear wax removal at first, they have qualified audiologists who can do the procedure. Also, they will do the treatment in the office, which we think many clients prefer.
Additionally, their team is professional and knowledgeable. Numerous clients liked the quality of service the staff provided them with.
Since hearing tests can be stressful at times, we were glad to hear about the friendly approach shown to their clients. It certainly helped with the nervousness during the whole process.
Moreover, they have tinnitus retraining therapy. What this does is help reduce the negative effects of tinnitus in your everyday life.
We mentioned that because ear blockage is one of the causes of tinnitus. So, they can provide this treatment to help improve your quality of life.
We want to mention that they are closed from noon to 1:00 PM from Mondays to Thursdays, just in case you want to visit during your lunch break. Unfortunately, they also close earlier on Fridays.
In spite of that, we’re glad Soundwave quickly responds to any inquiries. Additionally, they’re accommodating to their client’s busy schedules.

Pros
- Offers full hearing care services
- Accommodating staff
- Has financing option for hearing aids
Cons
- Age limit for free consultation
- Limited availability of procedure per clinic
HearCANADA has been offering complete hearing care services since 2008. In addition, they have multiple branches in the country to reach more Canadians needing treatment and hearing aids.
The company is committed to helping improve the quality of life of its clients. In this case, the team will help you find a professional near you if you cannot go to any of their locations.
We’re happy they offer free hearing consultations. However, this only applies to people over 50 years old.
Moreover, you can easily book an appointment through their online form. But they are currently experiencing a high volume of inquiries, resulting in a longer response time.
For the ear removal assessment, a professional at their clinic can perform the procedure. But in some cases, they may refer you to a different clinic.
Although we understand that they can’t proceed with the treatment sometimes, it can be quite inconvenient for some people.
We should mention that not all HearCANADA clinics can do the procedure every day. Therefore, we recommend calling the clinic to request ear wax removal so they can accommodate your schedule.
Another thing we appreciate is the staff for trying to accommodate each patient despite the many queries they have to answer.
Finally, HearCANADA has a financing plan available for hearing aids. If you need one on a tight budget, you’ll be glad about this option since hearing aids can be expensive.

Pros
- Wide variety of services
- Has several clinics
- All procedures are professionally done
Cons
- Some complaints about customer service
- Cases of long waiting time
Oasis Professional Centres provides health and aesthetics services to Albertan families. They also have several clinics in the province, providing accessible medical care.
We appreciate the variety of services they offer, from hearing to psychological services. Also, all procedures are professionally done since they have several doctors available.
Unfortunately, the clients we talked to had issues with customer service. They mentioned the lack of a personable approach from the reception area.
After your initial assessment with the doctor, they will decide between two main methods of ear wax removal. Then, if necessary, the doctor will do the procedure at the clinic.
However, there’s a chance of sending you home with an ear wax removal kit if the case isn’t severe. So, we think it’s best to voice your concern to the doctor if you’re uncomfortable using the kit.
To clarify, not many people are comfortable doing the procedure themselves, even if it’s simple. Some clients the doctors sent home were disappointed because they wanted it done at the clinic.
Apart from that, make sure to call first to check for available specialists. Since there are different branches in Calgary, not all locations may have ear wax removal specialists available at all times.
Finally, there are different office hours per branch. Also, we think it’s best to verify the appointment to prevent a long waiting time, which past patients had to experience.
