3 Dog Sledding Providers in Calgary You Can Trust for an Exciting Adventure
Calgary is easily one of the best cities to visit in Alberta, mainly because of its wide variety of fun activities. Usually, I’d insist on visiting from June to August to enjoy warmer weather and fun Alberta festivals, but it would be a disservice not to recommend dog sledding during winter.
Dog sledding is the perfect winter activity in Calgary because both adventure seekers and timid travellers, such as myself, can enjoy it. The trustworthy canines will do all the heavy lifting, and all you’re left to do is observe the beautiful snow-blanketed plains of Calgary.
If you’re not 100% convinced why you should try this activity, I’m here to sway you as much as I can by talking about my favourite dog sledding providers. Continue reading to get a better idea of the fun that awaits you in dog sledding here in Calgary!

Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours Inc. is one of the most well-known providers in Canmore because of its wide variety of tours. However, what immediately drew us to this company was their cute and disciplined huskies, which are some of the fluffiest and most gentle dogs we’ve met.
One of their best-selling tours is the Ghost of Fortune Mountain, which involves two days of sledding. It tests the most dedicated adventurers who want to go on a self-driven expedition that covers over 80 kilometres of mountainous trails.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a more beginner-friendly tour that will give you that quick burst of adrenaline, you can opt for the Powder Hound Express. It’s a 2-hour experience made up of a 30-minute tutorial, one hour of dog-sledding and another 30 minutes for a hot cocoa break!
Pro tip:
You can also check out their summer tours if you’re not a big fan of the cold! They offer fun experiences such as dog cart tours and doggie paddle packages.

For starters, the Narnia Dog Sled Tour will make you feel like you’re in the fictional world it’s named after by taking you through a snowy and rocky mountain. The trail isn’t for those who get motion sick quickly because it consists of many twists and turns!
Meanwhile, the Canadian Heritage Tour is a more laid-back but still exciting experience—think Disney World rides! Instead of iconic cartoon locations and characters, however, you’ll witness snowy valleys and mountains.
