Pros
- Convenient location
- Reasonably priced
- Offers discounted rates for new members
Cons
- Closes just a tad earlier
- Charges an additional fee for printers, fax, and storage space
Assembly Coworking Space is conveniently located in Kensington, an inner city shopping district popular among locals and is also considered Calgary’s urban village.
First of all, we love their location near Sunnyside LRT station. We like that this district is pedestrian friendly and has bike paths, which is perfect for those who use this mode of transportation.
Aside from restaurants and shops around the building, they have communal kitchens stocked with snacks, coffee, and tea. If you feel the need to relax, they have games and a communal seating area available.
We appreciate the big windows to let the sunlight in, creating a more open and bright space. On top of that, they have a rooftop patio for a change of scenery.
They also have modern desks and ergonomic chairs for those long working hours. Aside from these comfortable options, they also have cabinets where you can store your things and phones, which are free to use.
However, there’s an extra fee for printers, fax machines, and storage space. Similar services offer these with the membership, so we’re slightly disappointed about that.
But we love their reasonable $400 monthly price for a dedicated desk. You should know they also offer new members 25% off for the first six months.
Finally, we hope they can add pricing for individuals looking to use their space for a day. We think it could be helpful for people looking online for unexpected drop-ins.

Pros
- Conveniently located in Downtown Calgary
- They have a bigger space
- Access to the fitness centre
- No-commitment rental
- Has an in-house I.T. support team
Cons
- Closes a bit earlier on Fridays
- A tad pricier
- Not ideal for startups
ReSourceYYC focuses on meeting the needs of entrepreneurs by launching a coworking space that will attract professionals. This space was established by Ron Bettin and Bill Scott, both entrepreneurs in their own right.
In 2017, they moved to a bigger space, occupying the entire 20th floor in One Palliser Tower, just a two-minute walk from Calgary Tower. We’re impressed that its larger area has a total of 47 offices plus several meeting rooms and a kitchen.
But we think having one kitchen for an entire floor can be inconvenient for some individuals since many people will need to line up to use appliances, especially during lunch breaks.
On the other hand, we think their convenient location in downtown Calgary has a lot of benefits. We appreciate the free street parking after 6 PM from Mondays to Saturdays and the pedestrian-friendliness of the area.
A downside we found is their rates for a dedicated desk start at $476 a month. We think this rate is quite pricey compared to similar services.
A bonus perk that we love is that all memberships have access to the building’s fitness centre and monthly parking. This amenity can prevent the hassle of looking for an available parking spot nearby.
Another thing that we like is their drop-in plans, where you can rent an office for $35 a day, although with limited amenities.
Moreover, we love their in-house I.T. support service for computer-related emergencies. They also have high-speed internet throughout the whole floor.
For those much-needed coffee breaks, ReSourceYYC has breakout rooms you can use unless they’re occupied, of course.
We noticed that the offices have more of a corporate atmosphere due to the colours and furniture. Also, we think the space might feel dull for people looking for a livelier setup.

Pros
- Open on Saturdays
- Focuses on spaces for creative individuals
- They have a fully open top floor
- Reasonable rates
Cons
- Limited timeframe for single-day access
- Single-day access is currently unavailable
- A few complaints on unresponsiveness
We’re glad to have found one of the best coworking spaces for creative individuals that offers flexible areas for collaborative artists and non-profits.
cSPACE is at the former King Edward School. One advantage we like is their convenient location, within walking distance of restaurants and shops.
Moreover, they have free parking, bike racks, and even a commuter shower if you need to freshen up.
Notably, the coworking space at cSPACE is called The Sandbox, which is ideal for freelancers and non-profits who thrive on creativity.
We adore their fully open top floor with stunning city views. Up there, the sliding glass doors convert the space into a conference room while maintaining the natural sunlight.
What’s greatly appreciated by many tenants is that The Sandbox is designed with sustainability in mind – it uses renewable energy and a rainwater cistern.
There is also a shared kitchen and a coffee shop on the first floor, perfect for meals and some downtime. They also offer complimentary printing, copy, and fax services.
Aside from that, cSPACE has an outdoor area called ArtPark where the local community can interact through public markets and small performances. We found this creative space the perfect option for a break to recharge creative juices.
Conveniently, their fees start at $399 a month for a designated desk. We like their added service of a ten-hour use of the meeting room and use of printer, copy, and fax machine.
Unfortunately, their single-day access is still currently unavailable until further notice. Previously, this could only provide access from 9 am to 5 pm, so we’re hoping for longer hours in the future.
Another drawback is we heard a few complaints about unresponsiveness. So if you need a venue as soon as possible, you might want to inquire months in advance.
4. TradeSpace

Pros
- They have lots of lighting to prevent gloominess
- Has storage for materials and inventory
- They pack and deliver orders for you
Cons
- Located a bit far from Downtown Calgary
- Membership benefits depend on the location
- Prices will depend on the location
A unique space compared to other services on our list, TradeSpace is acalled a cowarehousing space because its location used to be a warehouse. Currently, it houses office spaces for individuals, small businesses, and independent contractors in Calgary.
We think it’s incredible how they transformed a warehouse into a functional and well-designed warehouse. We love the bright and pleasing colour scheme, which prevents the space from becoming gloomy due to the lack of windows.
On the downside, their location isn’t within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Also, Downtown Calgary is a ten-minute drive from Trade Space.
We understand this might inconvenience some people, but we find it a good trade-off because of the incredibly spacious warehouse space.
We must mention that you can opt for an alternative way to get healthy and affordable meals. The main location of TradeSpace in 4030 offers deliveries through Naka Fridge, billed via the mobile app.
As for the benefits of the monthly fee, you will have 24/7 access to your space, free wifi, and a shared kitchen. But meeting room access is only offered at their main branch.
Another thing we like about TradeSpace is that contractors and manufacturers can store materials and inventory in a secured storage space.
To add, they will also take care of packing and delivering your orders as long as they are integrated with your chosen shopping platform.
We do appreciate that they charge based on the unit size, and the costs offer flexibility since it ranges from $600 to $4000 a month.
But, they have three locations in Calgary. So, unit prices will depend on the area.
However, depending on your type of business, you might not get approved for a space. TradeSpace will need to initially confirm if your company is the right fit and if it wouldn’t disrupt the other members.

Pros
- Affordable prices
- Offers I.T. support
Cons
- Day passes only available in select locations
- No ergonomic chair options for entry-level membership
Workhaus, established in 2014, provides a fresh and dynamic space for individuals looking to have a flexible work environment.
We love that they are located in the heart of Downtown Calgary, close to public transportation. There are several parking areas nearby for both cars and bicycles too.
The first thing we noticed about the space was the varying colour schemes. They have different colours for rooms, which we think is a factor in creating a relaxing environment.
We’re happy to say they have affordable rates since their open concept dedicated desk starts at $395 a month.
If you need an even cheaper option, Workhaus has an entry-level membership priced at $295 a month. There’s a mix of workstations that you can share with other individuals.
What’s more, they charge only $25 for a day pass, although this is only applicable to select locations.
Along with the membership, you will have 24/7 admission, fibre internet, a private phone booth, and access to meeting rooms. To add to that, they have I.T. support for computer emergencies.
On the downside, membership cancellation will require 30 to 60 days of written notice. So make sure to read the agreement before signing up.
Lastly, they don’t offer ergonomic chairs for all workstations. An example is their entry-level membership, where they only provide regular seating.
