Pros
- Established in 1983
- Provides a wide range of services
- Assists small businesses and incorporations
- Known for personable approach
Cons
- Some lawyers need to provide constant communication
- Complaints about lack of response for inquiries
What’s so impressive about Emery Jamieson LLP? Well, it was established back in 1893 – but under the name Beck & Emery.
That’s around 130 years in the business! If that doesn’t speak highly of the law firm’s reputation in Edmonton, then we don’t know what will!
It’s also impressive that aside from corporate law, Edmontonians can hire them for other legal assistance. They offer a wide range of services, allowing you to speak to one firm for other legal concerns.
Let’s not forget the comprehensive services they offer for corporate law. We like how they can help you regarding small corporate matters to more complex ones, which we know can be a pain.
It’s worth noting that the firm has many lawyers that specialise in corporate law. One of them is Adam Persi, whose professional and personable approach made an impression on us.
Moreover, he was called to the bar in 2014 and is now a partner at Emery Jamieson LLP! There, he works with small businesses and incorporations, which is convenient since many business owners can hire him!
Additionally, he has experience in litigation, which helps when resolving disputes. Persi has even appeared in all levels of Court in Aberta, which definitely adds to his expertise.
On the downside, it was disappointing to hear about some issues regarding communication. For an established law firm, we expected all lawyers to communicate constantly to keep their clients in the loop.
We also want to note that some people we conversed with didn’t receive a callback or response after inquiring. We hope they can improve customer service since there are people who need immediate legal help.

In 1959, Prowse Chowne LLP was established to provide Edmontonians with a choice of a firm with a wide variety of practice areas. We appreciate this, actually, because you don’t need to hop to another law firm for other legal concerns.
Aside from corporate law, you can hire them for commercial services, insurance law, litigation, real estate law, and wills and estate planning. There’s a pretty comprehensive list, which we find useful.
Moreover, we appreciate that they accept small, medium, and large-scale businesses. We like how their services benefit a wide range of clientele in Edmonton.
Additionally, James Song, K.C. is one of the corporate lawyers at Prowse Chowne LLP that impressed us. In 2020, he was awarded King’s Counsel for his contributions to the legal profession!
The clients we surveyed liked how easy he was to work with. His personable approach is beneficial and can help in stressful situations.
Furthermore, he earned praise for going the extra mile for his clients. Sometimes, corporate cases can be complex, so this quality earns him extra points from us!
Another aspect we like is the fair rates, as mentioned by their clients. However, some clients received their final invoices a bit later than expected.
Also, some people didn’t receive a response immediately after inquiring. Frankly, we hoped for a more responsive team considering Prowse Chowne LLP is a big law firm in Edmonton.

Henning Byrne LLP has been around since 1991. We like that they specialise in corporate law, which is just what we were looking for!
One of the aspects we like is you can hire them even if you don’t have a large-scale business. Aside from corporations, they also handle individual and commercial clients.
You should also know that you can expect a comprehensive list of services if you hire them for corporate legal matters. We appreciate that they make sure that each client understands the liabilities before making final business decisions.
It’s worth highlighting that Damien Meardi, one of Henning Byrne’s corporate lawyers, worked as a business development consultant. For us, this speaks about his knowledge of the ins and outs of businesses.
In 2013, he was called to the bar. That gives him around ten years of experience in corporate law.
Furthermore, one of his practice areas includes commercial law. So, whether you’re a small business owner or an incorporation, you can count on his services!
We also like how responsive he has been to his clients. Many of them appreciated his informative and clear communication skills, especially with complex and tricky cases.
A minor issue is that Henning Byrne LLP has limited services. Also, we would like to see a faster response from them regarding inquiries, considering their high-quality service.
But fret not! Each lawyer has a direct line, allowing you to contact them immediately if you want to hire their services.

Moreover, we like their thorough list of corporate and business law services. For us, it’s important because it means you will have the right help to comply with the laws of the Government of Alberta.
Aside from that, they also work with clients with start-up businesses. So, whether you have a small or big company, you can lean on KBL Law LLP.
Here, we want to highlight Brian Laidlaw, K.C. Oh, he was appointed King’s Counsel in 2022!

Pros
- Offers a wide variety of services
- Has many lawyers available
- Bell specialises in real estate corporate matters
- Explains everything in layman’s terms
Cons
- Different service quality depending on lawyer
- Some complaints about customer service
Barr LLP is an Edmonton law firm that you can count on for many services. It is a full-service law firm, anyway!
It first opened its doors in 1998. Over the years, it added more legal services for Edmontonians, which we admire.
There are many lawyers in the firm, too! It’s an advantage because it means there are many available lawyers, even during busy months.
Their commercial law services focus on working with small and medium-sized businesses. But that doesn’t mean they don’t work for incorporations because they do!
In fact, Richard Bell accepts corporations as his clients. We like that he focuses on real estate transactions and has worked with many developers regarding corporate concerns.
So, if you’re in the real estate business, you can hire Bell to make sure all transactions (especially big ones) are done correctly and on time! Even his clients praised him for exceeding their expectations.
We also like how patient and informative they explain the situation to their clients. It’s almost as if all lawyers at Barr LLP have been trained to explain everything in layman’s terms!
Sadly, some clients we surveyed didn’t have stellar experiences with some lawyers. We learned that some will not have the same high-quality experience.
We would also like to see some improvement in customer service. It was disappointing that some had unsatisfactory experiences, which can be stressful during a case.
