Dr. Cycle Service gets an immediate plus from us just from their broad and deep service offer, from simple tune-ups to full overhauls. 

That said, we also like that they have the skills to fix and work with high-end or specialty bikes like carbon-fibre frames or wheel-building. This means you can preserve expensive gear instead of replacing it. 

Speaking of fixing, if you’re dropping by for a sudden repair or a walk-in fix, we’re impressed by how fast they can get you back on the road—some even as fast as 15 minutes for minor issues. 

It’s worth noting that they got you covered on the e-bike end, too. For those with e-bikes, finding a reliable shop that can handle both mechanical and electrical aspects is a big win. 

And yes, they can take care of you even if you come in with a bike you bought online or elsewhere, so they’re pretty flexible with bike brands and models. Just note that they’re closed on Sundays, so Saturday is your best weekend bet.

We like how Quick Cranks gives you options on options, given that they carry a variety of bikes like road, mountain, hybrid/commuter, gravel, e-bikes, kids’ bikes, and a large catalogue of parts, tools, and accessories. 

Conveniently, their online store makes it easy for you to browse through their products, and some have free shipping. It’s good for those who want to order parts ahead and pick them up later, making trips to the store faster. 

Beyond their product range, they’ve got skilled mechanics that handle bike servicing, such as maintenance, suspension tuning, hydraulic brakes, wheel-building, drivetrain work, and e-bike services. 

But if you’re planning to get your bike in for servicing, then you’ll have to book ahead and expect a two-day turnaround; walk-ins might face delays, especially if it isn’t a small concern. 

Still, we have to give it to them for having the skillset and product selection to offer comprehensive bike services.

The main thing about Phat Moose Cycles is their custom work. They’re known for custom builds, wheel-building, and even as far as cutting spokes to length and tensioning them for durability. This service has done wonders for clients with off-road, mountain, or unique bike setups. 

It’s no surprise that they have the services to back up this level of expertise. Think standard tune-ups, deep mechanic tunes, full teardown and rebuild, suspension maintenance, and more—you can get comprehensive care under one roof.

On that note, they have tons of parts, accessories, and even apparel, which you can easily scroll through on their online store. You can also check out their “Sale” section to see discounted items.  

Here’s the thing, though: their stock for ready-to-ride bikes is pretty limited compared to others on this list. Nonetheless, a quick call to make a request or appointment can speed things up.

What’s neat about Full Cycle is their sheer inventory of bikes; they’ve got road, mountain, kids, e-bikes, and more, which means beginners and pros can get what suits them best. You can also expect a wide selection of accessories, tools, parts, and apparel. 

We also find it reassuring that they offer a lifetime service warranty on any bike purchased at the shop, with things like free adjustments and discounted labour for new parts or accessories. It adds long-term value, and it can save you money on tune-ups and maintenance. 

Their expertise also extends to e-bikes, which is great considering there’s been a surge in users. They can easily work on electricals, motors, and battery systems. 

Price-wise, look out for some parts and accessories that can be pricier than other shops. On the bright side, you can scroll through their online store to compare prices, and you can even benefit from free shipping if you proceed to order.

If Joe Mamma Cycles is the punchline for every bike-related joke, then we welcome it. We love that their niche involves offering a large BMX and urban-bike selection, plus commuter and kids’ bikes. It’s a win for cyclists who want the know-how and hook-ups for city riding. 

They’re a one-stop shop, considering that they’ve got helmets, lubricants, care products, and accessories in stock. The variety they have can fit different aesthetics and preferences. 

With constant use comes unavoidable wear and tear, especially if you use it on a daily basis around the city, like for work. So, it’s beneficial that they do thorough tune-ups, promising full safety inspection, drivetrain lubrication, brake/gear adjustment, wheel tuning, and tire pressure adjustment. 

The drawback? We did note some reports of inconsistent follow-through on post-sale services, which can be frustrating, especially if you’re in a rush.

But hey, we appreciate that they let you test the bike and ride around the block to see if it fits the bill and works perfectly.
