No one was surprised that Oddfellows Barbershop was included in our list. Here, precision and style meet in the middle, whether you’re looking for your usual trim or one of the sharpest fades you’ve ever seen.

When we first entered the shop, we were blown away by the overall design, with a mix of stylish and classic styles. It was laid-back and comfortable, but we did have a tough time finding the shop at first—we found it through a short alley on Kline Street.

They’ve become our go-to barbershop in Halifax, as they offer loads of services, including tapers, buzzcuts, fades, and long haircuts, as well as beard trims and razor shaves. Plus, they provide kids’ haircuts!

To make it even better, their haircuts are impeccable and consistent, with one of the best fades we’ve seen in Halifax. It helps that they listen attentively to what you want.

All these for prices that won’t bankrupt you, starting at a reasonable $40 for a short haircut—a buzzing experience, any day of the week!

When it’s about expertise, Brewery Barber doesn’t disappoint. The shop is owned by Eion Wright, who earned the Master Barber title from the Nova Scotia Registered Barbers Association.

The barbershop’s easy to reach in downtown Halifax. But what truly caught our attention was the no muss, no fuss service—your classic barber with skills in different hairstyles for men.

One of my buddies became a loyal client because of the consistently fantastic cuts. The best part of it all? Their barbers know how to work with different hair textures, which deserves massive points, don’t you think?

Booking an appointment is fairly easy, and despite being closed twice a week, there are still lots of appointment slots. Services are a tad limited, though, but their barbers know how to work with any hairstyle, which is what’s important, anyway.

Overall, they’re a solid barbershop in Halifax, especially when you factor in their competitive pricing. A short haircut starts at $40, which is within the average range in the area.

Open 7 days a week, The Big Moustache rolls out the red carpet for every client. Their services are incredibly vast, from haircuts to beard trims.

For instance, they offer regular and premium haircuts, skin fades, buzzcuts, and kids’ haircuts. The cherries on top are their shampoo, styling, blow-dry, and colour.

Plus, this is one of our top barbershops in Halifax for the traditional hot shave, and they also offer machine beard trims. They level it up even more by offering kids’ haircuts and mundan, which is a Hindu ceremony of shaving the baby’s hair.

Truly, their barbers have light hands to cater to kids. And they do the job well for both kids and adults, as their haircuts are done with precise and smooth finishes—perfect for fades.

Not all clients came out happy with their cuts, though, mainly due to some inconsistent trims. There were also times when clients had to wait for their turn, despite having an appointment.

Then again, this is the largest barbershop chain in Nova Scotia, so booking won’t be tough.

They did everything possible to make my son comfortable

My son has only had 2 haircuts prior to this one, so he is still rather anxious and unsure of the whole process and can be squirmy. When we first tried out Mr.Fade, we were taken aback (in a good way) by their range of services. It’s like they offer a full hair and beard service (they literally do, actually), making them highly accessible for every need.

Impressively, they offer haircuts (for kids and adults), hair colour, styling, beard trim and colour, clean shaving, and facial detailing. You can even book a 20-minute head relaxation massage for a little pick-me-up.

One of the services we tried was the premium package, which completely pampered us. The hair and beard shampoo and styling, followed by a deep cleanse, facial steam, facial massage, and pore treatment, was like living in the lap of luxury.

The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the level of service we received. It wasn’t all perfect, however, since we had to wait for a while despite having booked an appointment.

This barbershop is open daily, so stick to weekday appointments to avoid busy days. They accept walk-ins, anyway.

It was honestly expected that LalaJi The Barber Shop would gain a solid client base since opening in 2022. Their founder, LalaJi aka Munish Nagpal, earned the 2022 Crown of Clippers Nova Scotia, which wasn’t surprising with his fantastic cut.

His team of barbers is excellent at what they do as well, as they’ve been trained under LalaJi. Honestly, they’ve proven themselves exceptional by offering a wide array of hair and beard services, such as wash, cut, style, and colour.

They don’t stop there, as they provide keratin and smooth treatments, head washes, hot shaves, threading, and full facials. The whole shebang is in this barbershop, which makes them accessible to all men in Halifax.

Unfortunately, getting a haircut from LalaJi himself is tough, as he’s booked and busy. It would’ve been perfect if it weren’t for appointment mishaps, like wait times despite having an appointment.

It’s a good thing the barbershop is decked out to the nines. The dash of extravagance did make our whole visit better.
