Pros
- Provides a luxury experience
- Open any day of the week
- Spacious shop
- Offers many services; has braiding
- Available for mobile services
Cons
- Has higher prices
Throne Barbershop earns a spot on our list because of the luxury experience they provide, from location to service quality. It’s impressive that in just a few years after opening in 2013, they’ve earned a good reputation in the community!
With their daily availability, even busy individuals get to have their haircut on their days off. Not all barbershops in Toronto are open on weekends, so this is a massive plus.
Upon entering the barbershop, clients will be greeted by the high-end design and feel of the place. The space has an industrial and minimalist style, is clean, and is spacious—there are no worries about bumping someone else.
The team is also very talented. We were impressed at how skilled they were in almost any kind of haircut, from fades to hard parts.
Throne Barbershop’s offerings, from simple haircuts to braids, are also impressive—it’s quite a lot! Plus, an optional wash and hot towel are available for all hair services.
Additionally, they’re available for mobile services. Clients get to book them for parties, which we think is nice for a stag night, eh?
But all these luxury services come with a price—a high price, that is. A regular haircut starts at $70, which is higher than others we found in Toronto.

Pros
- Has two locations, open daily
- Affordably priced
- Cuts hair for all ages
- Shop is open for private events
Cons
- Parking can be tricky
- Services are limited
With two locations in Toronto that are open daily, Garrison’s Barbershop is an accessible service for Toronto residents. They’re on Niagara and Jarvis, which makes them easy to visit from downtown.
There’s a catch, though. We found that finding a parking spot at Niagara can be tricky, especially on weekends.
But we don’t mind that too much because going inside is something to anticipate. The place is clean, and the staff is very friendly and hygienic, qualities we look for in a barbershop.
The barbers are also very talented, providing good-looking cuts that will make the men ask where you got that sick hairstyle from. They can do many styles, from simple trims to layers.
It also helps that they’re friendly, which also makes them easy to talk to regarding any hairstyle. No one wants a bad cut, no?
Now, regarding their services, we found them to be more limited than other barbershops in Toronto. They only have cuts and beard trims, unfortunately.
But no worries because we found a positive side. Garrison’s Barbershop is an affordable place, only asking for $48 for a haircut for all ages, while beard trims start at $30.
Plus, they are also experienced in cutting kids’ hair. That’s not quite the same as cutting an adult’s hair, so this is definitely an advantage.
Finally, their shop is conveniently open for private events. They welcome good causes, which is really nice to know.

Pros
- Offers hair treatments
- Has affordable rates
- Provides kids’ haircuts
- Has a warm and friendly vibe
Cons
- No Sundays available
The team of Barber Theory prides themselves in their creativity, and frankly, we agree. They don’t just stick to regular trims but also offer various styles, which is something we really like.
Their offerings are another advantage they have. It includes cuts, beard trims, hair colour, and perm.
Additionally, we appreciate that their services are reasonably priced, with haircuts and styles ranging from $30 to $55. Although the price will vary depending on the stylist, we still found it affordable.
It’s also worth mentioning that they offer student haircuts at a discounted rate—just bring an ID. They are also experienced in cutting kids’ hair, even for those 12 years old and under, which we know can be challenging to do.
Also, we really like the atmosphere inside Barber Theory because of the warm and friendly vibe. The shop is simple, but having a straightforward service is sometimes just what you need.
A minor hiccup we noted is their schedule, which is only six days a week. Sadly, that doesn’t include Sundays, which kind of bums us out because their Saturdays are most probably packed because it’s their only weekend.
Nevertheless, Barber Theory’s overall service is incredible. Despite a scheduling setback, they still remain one of our go-to shops in Toronto.

Pros
- Has two convenient locations
- Provides competitive prices
- Queen St. location is open daily
Cons
- Not a lot of services
- Dundas branch is closed on weekends
Town Barber earns applause from us for having two locations in Toronto, one on Dundas Street and the other on Queen Street. It certainly helps that these are both easy to get to, which makes them accessible and convenient.
However, their Dundas location is only open five days a week, which is a little disappointing since clients will have to fight for a weekend spot. But the positive side is they’re open seven days a week at their other location.
Town Barber is a no-frills barbershop. Their services are pretty straightforward, offering cuts and beard trims.
But the downside of that is there isn’t a lot to hire them for. Sadly, unlike other barbershops, they don’t offer hair colour or treatments.
Despite that, they remain one of our top picks because of their superb service! Some clients have been with them for decades, which speaks about their expertise in men’s haircuts.
It’s also impressive how professional yet friendly they are. Most of their clients loved having a great conversation with their barber, which we think adds to the overall positive experience.
Also, we found their rates to be competitively priced. A 40-minute haircut is $45, and add a full face shave to that service, and it remains less than a hundred.

Pros
- Has an old-school vibe
- Has two locations
- Offers ladies’ haircuts
- Provides good value for money
Cons
- Parking can be tricky
We really like going to Lather & Steel because of the vibe. The place feels like an old-school barbershop but with a modern touch—it has a lot of personality, and even the chairs are vintage.
It’s also convenient that there are two locations: Yonge Street and Bay Street. But the best thing about this is both are close to subway stations, so commuting won’t be a hassle.
But if you’re driving, finding a parking slot can be a hassle. Maybe try to avoid peak hours and weekends or stick to riding the subway?
We also like their offerings, including haircuts, beard trims, and full shaves. Interestingly, they also offer ladies’ haircuts, which is unheard of for a barbershop, no?
Another excellent service from Lather & Steel is their kids’ haircut for those under the age of 13. We appreciate the full service for this, including shampoo, conditioner, and styling, because it can make kids love getting haircuts.
Price-wise, they’re not the cheapest in the area, but they’re not pricey either. Actually, we found that they offer good value for money because most include extra services that not all barbershops have.
For instance, their traditional barber haircut, which is $60, already includes shampoo and conditioner. They also have a 15-minute cleanup for $15, which is ideal if you just want to polish the edges.
