Daoust Vukovich LLP was established in 1995, and those years of experience gave us the confidence that they have expert knowledge of the local law.
True enough, they actually have a team of lawyers who are adept at bankruptcy law. Even better is that they are always on top of new developments, which we appreciate because they can make proper plans for clients.
Plus, it’s nice that all their litigators have appeared in all levels of courts and tribunals. The way we see it, they have the right experience in all aspects of debt problems.
We also found that they have a large team of lawyers, which we appreciate because it means they can accommodate more clients at once.
Although we were pleased with their lawyers, bankruptcy law isn’t what they solely specialize in, as their main focus seems to be commercial leasing.
Their lawyers received the Best Lawyers Award for it—it’s just a bummer it doesn’t include bankruptcy law.
Nevertheless, we learned that this law firm continues to provide excellent service to clients. They’re good communicators as well, and we didn’t have to wait more than a day to receive a response to our inquiry.
Lastly, their location in downtown Toronto makes them very accessible to anyone who lives in the city.
Pros
- Established in 1995
- Located in downtown
- Has a large team of lawyers
- Responsive team
Cons
- Bankruptcy law is not the main focus
Fights for their clients
“Our company was battling a bankruptcy against a large client. Wolfgang and Ike were very responsive and aggressive against the client and trustee to help us recover our funds and merchandise. As a small/medium business it is challenging trying to recover your losses. DV’s legal fees are worth every penny. You have rights and the DV team will do everything they can to recoup your losses.”

Competent team
“I recently worked with Deborah Watkins on 2 real estate lease deals and have been extremely pleased with her competence, advice and sense of urgency. One of the deals was with a difficult Landlord & she was invaluable in guiding me on the best way to work with them and resolve several issues in a timely manner. I highly recommend her.”

One of the things we like about Devry Smith Frank LLP is they’re very accessible. Besides a Toronto office, they also have ones in Whitby and Barrie, making them easy to reach in the GTA.
It’s also incredible how vast their practice areas are. We’re also impressed at their vast experience in bankruptcy and insolvency, which means they can advise you on the proper steps so you are aware of your rights.
They also have a large team of experienced bankruptcy lawyers—we were actually surprised by this when we spoke with them to inquire. This gives them an edge because they can provide the lawyer with the right expertise based on the client’s needs.
When it comes to training and educational background, they have lawyers who graduated from the prestigious Osgoode Law School. This is usually considered one of the top schools in the world, which definitely impressed our team.
The approach at this Toronto law firm has also exceeded our expectations. We observed the calm and constant support their lawyers gave their clients, which is helpful in a stressful situation.
The only issue is they’re not exactly affordable, which is unfortunate if you’re already struggling with debt. Then again, the personalized service is excellent.
Pros
- Has three GTA locations
- Has many bankruptcy lawyers
- Lawyers have vast experience in bankruptcy law
Cons
- Rates are expensive
Top-notch assistance
“Christopher Statham was always available – sometimes after business hours, as arranged. He is an extremely responsive, polite, well mannered and, above all, fully capable in the area that I required detailed assistance. A very friendly, personable but professional individual. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and will call upon him again, should the need arise.”

Overall excellent service
“We were recommended to this law firm by a colleague to help us with a business matter and are very happy that we took that advice.
We had the pleasure to work with Owais Hashmi and feel very lucky to retain someone that was so attentive to details as well as understanding what our company wanted to accomplish.
Our results were our best-case scenario and we really appreciated how effortlessly ( on our part), professionally, and efficiently the matter was taken care of.
Thank you Owais and team for taking care of us ! We really appreciate the work put in.
Highly recommended”

SpenceDrake Tax Law is a boutique law firm with over a decade of experience. But what we really like is they specialize in tax law, which includes bankruptcy and tax debt.
It’s also nice that they can work with individual and corporate clients, making them accessible to Torontonians. But besides that, they can also represent clients across the country, which is convenient for Torontonians who have moved to other places.
Unlike other law firms on our list, they don’t exactly have a large team that mainly works on bankruptcy, as their focus is more on tax disputes. Still, we appreciate that they’re still experts at bankruptcy issues.
It’s awesome they provide free consultations, which is very helpful if you’re already in a financial crisis. This will run for 20 minutes, which we don’t have a problem with, considering it’s complimentary.
Plus, we appreciate that they have been very responsive. We were actually surprised at how fast they replied to our inquiry, which can ease the mind if you’re going through bankruptcy.
It certainly helps that their pricing is fair since they offer fixed rates, so there won’t be financial surprises in the end. Also, we like that they provide various payment plans so you can pick one that will suit your financial situation.
Pros
- Works with individuals and corporate clients
- Provides free consultations
- Offers fixed rates
Cons
- Small team; mainly focuses on tax disputes
Listens and offer great advice
“I spoke to Chris briefly about a situation I was going through and he was one of the only lawyers willing to hear me out and offer me advice. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks again.”

Clark Farb Fiksel LLP first opened in 1989, which speaks volumes about their vast experience. We were honestly impressed when we learned how long they’ve been practicing law.
That extends to their legal team. We found that most of their team has been practicing for close to 50 years, which is a remarkable feat and indicates their knowledge of the local law.
As for their approach, we appreciate the personalized services. We learned that they always tailor their strategy and style based on the client’s needs, which we found very helpful.
It’s worth mentioning that they represent consumers, businesses, and trustees. This gives them a vast clientele, which we like because it means they can cater to many Torontonians who need to file for bankruptcy.
Another convenient thing is they can provide services in English and French. Speaking in another language gives them an edge since not all Toronto law firms can provide this service.
Plus, their office is located in a convenient location—in the Yorkville area. Their building also has paid parking, which is handy since that’s one less thing to worry about in a busy area.
The only hiccup is that their free consultation is only for their mediation service. But besides that, we think they’re still a solid choice because of the supportive approach we’ve seen.
Pros
- Opened in 1989
- Provides personalized services
- Located in the Yorkville area
- Services are available in English and French
Cons
- Free consultation is only for mediation service
Compassionate and skilled
“Highly skilled professionals with a warm heart that resolved our legal matter and protected our interests. Highly recommended!!! 👍👍”

One thing we noticed about Rogerson Law Group is they’re the go-to law firm for high-net-worth individuals. They even received recognition as one of the best by Chambers and Partners due to their niche.
While that doesn’t sound exactly relevant, it shows their excellent approach. It was nice to learn that their services are very personalized, which is an advantage for clients.
We do appreciate that they have a highly experienced legal team. We learned they’re well-versed in working on small and complex cases, which indicates their expertise.
It’s also worth noting that their lawyers have received prestigious recognition in the field. That wasn’t surprising since they have lawyers who earned their juris doctor from the prestigious Osgoode Law School.
Here’s the problem: they don’t exactly specialize in bankruptcy. Only one lawyer, their founder Andrew Rogerson, specializes in bankruptcy.
Nonetheless, we think you’ll still be in good hands because he’s been practicing for over 25 years.
Another thing we appreciate is their supportive approach, from their lawyers to their secretaries. Plus, it’s nice to know they were always on top of things and they always updated their clients.
But the thing is, they’re not the most affordable law firm—they’re actually pricey. On a good note, the legal advice and assistance they provide are very helpful.
Pros
- Award-winning law firm
- Provides personalized services
- Lawyers have received prestigious recognition
Cons
- Only one lawyer specializes in bankruptcy
- Rates are expensive
Professional service
“Excellent law firm. We went to Rogersons after being very frustrated with a previous firm. They are professional, courteous and tireless in their quest to ensure they represent their clients to the best of their abilities. I highly recommend this firm.”

Goes above and beyond
“Mr. Andrew Rogerson is amazing ! He is going above and beyond expected. I’m very excited for his future guidance. I was very nervous when we first started our our zoom meeting, but by the end I felt very confident with my case and very comfortable with him and his advise. His Secretary Lisa is super sweet as well, I highly recommend Rogerson Law Group from the bottom of my heart xoxo”
