You can’t go wrong with the delicious baked goodies of Yann Haute Patisserie. They serve some of the most exquisite desserts you’ll find in Calgary, both in taste and looks!

Their baked goodies taste as delicious as they look! After all, the baker is a member of the Relais Desserts Association, an association that groups together the world elite of the French Haute Pâtisserie (basically, high pastry).

The bakery is a cute yellow house where you can get pretty much everything, like bread, puff pastries, cakes, and macarons. The quality is top-notch as well, as they use natural ingredients sourced ethically (from locals as much as possible).

Not only do they sell freshly baked goods, but they also carry frozen goodies you can have every time you’re craving something to satisfy your tastebuds!

Pro Tip:
If you have a specific product in mind, better check the delivery menu to see if it’s available there and order it immediately. If you come by before closing time, there’s no guarantee the item will still be available because they sell out frequently.

If you want delicious bread, drive to Mari Bakeshop in Bridgeland. It’s one of those bakeries you go to every Sunday so you have bread for breakfast throughout the week (if it actually lasts that long!).

Their traditional poolish baguettes are perfectly baked, with crispy crusts yet soft inside. Their sourdough, a bestseller, is always exceptional—we always wonder how long their starter is because how can it be so good?!

Their sourdoughs and baguettes actually take three days to make because long fermentation is key to good bread.

If you want something sweet but not overwhelming with sugar, their soft rollcakes are worth trying. They come in various fun and unique flavour blends, such as peach and strawberry, hojicha milk chocolate, and grape and blueberry.

Pro Tip:
If you want to see all their pastries, visit before 10 or 11 am, or you might not even see their bestsellers!

It’s one of those spots that the locals love because of the fantastic sweet and savoury selections. The croissant and baguette sandwiches are perfect brunch meals because the pastry is soft and the various fillings go well together.

If you want something sweet, the creme brulee is made perfectly—it’s soft and jiggly! You basically get everything you want in this Calgary bakery (they have hot drinks too), just like a French bakery but upgraded!

Pro Tips:
This neighbourhood favourite gets busy because locals love it (there are many loyal customers who always come back). So, better get ready to order a takeout if the place is full.
There’s a small parking area beside the bakery, which they share with a restaurant. To get a slot, avoid lunchtime because it does get full.

Menu

One of our favourite bakeries in Calgary is Canela Vegan Bakery & Cafe because they actually make tasty pastries and cakes that taste like actual food! None of their baked goodies are lacking flavours, even without the use of dairy and eggs!

There’s nothing more beautiful than their vegan pastries. Everything is carefully decorated and picture-perfect, just like their fantastic donuts (donuts canada), tarts, and cakes!

And yes, their pastries are a feast for the eyes and tastebuds. Both sweet and savoury delights are perfectly baked and flavourful but not overwhelmingly so.

Pro Tips:
They have gluten-free products, but cross-contamination is possible since they don’t have a completely gluten-free facility. They do test for gluten once a month, but if you have a severe allergy, you may want to skip this.
If you order a cake online, make sure you have time to pick it up. They don’t do cake deliveries anymore due to previous bad delivery service experiences.
