If you’re an action junky, then this place is perfect! Fortress Mountain has the highest base in Canada, and even while it’s been quiet without the regular ski crowds, KPOW (Kananaskis Powder) has kept the excitement alive with cat skiing on the fantastic snow here.
Since their reopening, they’ve added five new lifts and a brand new lodge, among other important upgrades like water and sewer systems. This is all part of the biggest makeover in Fortress Mountain’s 55-year history, making it a fresh start for this beloved ski hill.
But skiing’s just part of the story. Fortress Mountain has things to do all year round, like hiking, snowshoeing, and fishing.

The ski conditions are always top-notch, thanks to diligent grooming. And though the food might be a bit basic, it hits the spot after a long day on the slopes.
