Pros
- Has all types of physiotherapy
- Has 20 treatment methods
- Specializes in acupuncture
Cons
- Closed on Sundays
- Parking is difficult during busy hours
To say that having multiple body pain and injuries is agonizing is an understatement. If that is the case, you may need a physiotherapy clinic like ProActive Physiotherapy.
Compared to other clinics, we like that ProActive can provide all types of physiotherapy to its patients. These include sports, musculoskeletal, and occupational, among others.
So, whether you have a problem with your muscles, bones, or nerves or need to recover from an accident, this clinic can help you.
But apart from offering numerous types of physiotherapy, we found that ProActive offers 20 therapy methods, including manual therapy and acupuncture. We think it is a good feature because clients can have the flexibility to choose what suits them the best.
Nevertheless, if you want to get acupuncture we have good news. One of its head physiotherapists, Jay Patel, has had different training in needle treatment and fitness training in Canada since he graduated in 2011.
For its patient treatment, its clients commend its staff for their thoroughness in explaining their condition and the best possible treatment.
Meanwhile, we are also glad to share that ProActive has numerous PWD parking spaces in its two branches.
However, we suggest not visiting during peak business hours because of the parking situation. It can become challenging to park in the area since ProActive shares the space with nearby businesses.

Pros
- In business since 1985
- Offers online therapy
- Best for sports physiotherapy services
- Its physiotherapists have 18 years of experience
Cons
- Fewer therapy methods than others
- Parking is difficult during busy hours
- Closed on weekends
Although physical activities are rewarding to our bodies, overdoing them can cause more harm than good. And in cases like this, clinics like South Edmonton Physical Therapy & Sport Rehab (SEPTSR) can come in handy to help us get back to grinding.
SEPTSR is a clinic specializing in sports physiotherapy that caters to both athletes and non-athlete patients in Edmonton. It offers musculoskeletal and rehabilitation physiotherapy done by experienced specialists.
We also found that it has four treatment methods, such as massage, intramuscular stimulation, shockwave treatment, spinal manipulation, and acupuncture. Despite having fewer options than others, we still like that it offers choices for its clients.
Interestingly, one of SEPTSR’s therapists, Trent Svenningsen has served as an event therapist for the Canadian National Gymnastics team. Aside from being in the field for two decades, we think his stint with the national team is a plus for experience!
In addition, we find it similarly reassuring that SEPTSR has been in business since 1985. Although years do not directly translate to perfection, we think being in business for more than three decades speaks about its consistency as a clinic.
But among its features, SEPSTR’s online therapy alternative named Physitrack is what sets it apart from the other physiotherapy clinics in Edmonton. Using this alternative, clients can attend physical therapy sessions in the convenience of their homes.
Although, keep in mind that its parking space is limited during busy hours. Due to its location at the Ermineskin Shopping Centre, all customers of the shops in the vicinity must share the available parking spaces.

Pros
- Has various types of treatment methods
- The website has a virtual clinic tour
- Physiotherapist has been in practice since 2005
- Physiotherapist specializes in IMS and acupuncture
Cons
- Fewer therapy methods than others
- Has a relatively small parking space
- Closed on Sundays
Visiting a physiotherapy clinic can be as nerve-wracking as going to a clinic. It is good that there are companies like Integral Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic (IPSC) with ways to address or lessen your tension.
To give you a clearer picture, IPSC has a virtual clinic tour feature on its website wherein patients can see the clinic online. We think this is a clever and effective way for patients to observe and lessen their anxiety before setting an appointment.
Meanwhile, one of the physiotherapists in IPSC, Adam Giesbrecht, has a background that we think can assure the patients.
Aside from being an expert in acupuncture and Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), we like how Adam has been consistently training under various physiotherapy programs since he graduated in 2005.
Now, for the physiotherapy services at IPSC, it offers the usual three types: sports, musculoskeletal, and vestibular.
Although it has a similar set of services to others, we appreciate that it has lots to offer in treatment methods. From acupuncture and the TMJ program to Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), IPSC gives patients the freedom to choose over its 14 methods.
As for the actual therapy sessions, we found a good amount of positive feedback from the patients we spoke with. They mentioned that the therapists and staff are gentle, and commended their comforting bedside manner and personable attitude.
On the downside, IPSC has a small parking area. However, we appreciate that it reserves a spot for booked clients, so we suggest calling ahead to ensure hassle-free parking.

Pros
- Member of three physiotherapy institutions
- Has four types of physiotherapy
Cons
- Has fewer treatment methods than others
- Relatively younger than others
- Closed on Sundays
A clinic’s membership from recognized institutions is a concrete indicator of quality service. If that is what you are looking for in a physiotherapy clinic, we think Coeur Physiotherapy is the right one for you.
Coeur Physiotherapy is a member of three physiotherapy institutions in Canada: the Physiotherapy College Association, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy.
We think it is fantastic that Coeur got those memberships despite being a fairly new clinic since it was only established in 2019. In our books, achieving such a feat translates to a service that has passed the standard within its field.
Also, one of Coeur’s physio, Adam Teece, has equally impressive credentials that can put patients at ease. Aside from working as a teaching assistant, his medical repertoire includes vestibular rehabilitation, concussion, Gunn IMS, and acupuncture.
With regards to patient care, we found that Teece is well-regarded for his encouraging, friendly, yet professional approach. He is also known for being elaborative with treatment and its limitations to his clients.
Now, for Coeur’s treatment, we noted from our surveys that its patients are impressed by the physios’ thorough and calm way of conducting the therapy sessions.
It’s also a plus that Coeur has a bit more to offer than some of the other physiotherapy clinics in Edmonton. Aside from the usual sports, musculoskeletal, and vestibular options, it also has a geriatric option–perfect for the senior population!
However, we noted that the clinic only has four kinds of treatment methods to offer: massage, acupuncture, dry needling, and shockwave therapy – less than what its competitors have.
Another downside is the parking setup at their location, or the lack thereof. Since Coeur doesn’t have a designated parking area, its clients don’t have much option other than leaving their cars at the roadside.
Nevertheless, Couer’s clean and modern facilities that can comfort patients serve as a redeeming factor. We are not alone in admiring its space, as most of the clients we interviewed share the same comments.
Similarly, we also like that the clinic is in the swanky Edmonton City Centre. Because of the nearby amenities, patients can conveniently relax after their treatment session.

Pros
- Has five types of physiotherapy
- Offers occupational therapy
- Has seven branches
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Parking can be difficult during busy hours
No matter how unpleasant mishaps at work are, there is always a chance that they might happen. And if you’re suffering from work-related pains, we think an occupational physiotherapy clinic such as Lifemark Physiotherapy is what you need.
Since 2013, it has been providing multiple types of physical rehabilitation services. Some of its notable services we found include pediatric physiotherapy and therapy for physical immobility caused by cancer and mental health issues.
Aside from the services we mentioned above, Lifemark has three the usual physio services: musculoskeletal, geriatric, and vestibular.
Another thing we like is that Lifemark has seven branches throughout Edmonton, so it definitely wins points for accessibility!
You can find Lifemark’s clinics at Kingsway, Meadowlark Centre, Lake Beaumaris, Academy Place, Millwoods, Belmead, and Sports Institute Edmonton.
However, since most of its branches are in centres, we observed that parking could be challenging during busy hours. Nevertheless, we think you can book an appointment ahead to avoid any hassle in parking your vehicle.
And if you are looking for vestibular therapy, we think you will like Geoffrey Wendell from the clinic’s Kingsway branch. Aside from having experience dating back to 2006, he has completed numerous post-graduate programs in his field–the latest is in 2018.
Apart from his experiences, another exemplary trait of Wendell is his coaching style. His clients appreciate his patience and attentiveness in answering their concerns about the treatment.
Now, for its patient experience, we discovered that most of Lifemark’s patients appreciate therapists’ upfront yet understanding treatment towards them. In addition, the clinic’s staff is also known by its patrons to have a warm attitude.
