Pros

  • An inclusive and diverse gym
  • Offers in-person and virtual training
  • Kids allowed at personal training sessions
  • Offers affordable 2-week trial

Cons

  • Consultations not available on weekends

Ottawa’s Love Your Body Fitness is one of our picks because of their inclusive and diverse services. Basically, they focus on helping parents and busy individuals, regardless of race, gender, and disability.

We found that they have a tonne of offerings, including personal and group training, mobility training, corporate training, nutrition services, and fitness parties. Virtual training is also available, which we appreciate, as they can serve anyone across Ontario.

From our surveys, many patrons praised the personal trainers here for being attentive and informed.

Many also mentioned how they go above and beyond to accommodate their needs. For instance, children are even welcomed to personal training sessions so parents can stay fit despite busy schedules.

We also love the availability of the personal trainers at Love Your Body Fitness, which is seven days a week. These guys are extremely flexible, as they’re ready to set up the client with a different trainer if their schedule doesn’t match up.

It’s also worth highlighting that they have 2-week trials with unlimited classes for only $49 plus tax. But if you’re looking for a consultation before diving in, there’s no weekend availability, so this is something we’re bummed about.

Nonetheless, we found all their other accommodations to be incredible. In our opinion, they truly understand that a busy life shouldn’t stay in the way of health and fitness.

Pros

  • Offers virtual and in-person training
  • Available for outdoor exercise
  • Provides sport-specific training
  • Has virtual sessions 6 days a week
  • Gym is spacious

Cons

  • No Sunday schedules

One of our favourite personal trainers in Ontario is Total Body Fitness & Wellness, located in Brampton. We love that they offer a variety of training programs, allowing them to cater to different kinds of individuals.

Here’s what they have: one-on-one and small group personal training, sport-specific training, in-home fitness equipment evaluation, and corporate training in the workplace. These are available for all fitness levels, too!

We also found that they offer in-person and online (via Zoom) training sessions. What’s even better is that they’re open to training outdoors, which we like, as it adds some variety and different scenery.

However, we noticed that their training schedule doesn’t include Sundays. It’s not too much of a problem for us, though, because they have virtual workouts available six days a week.

As for their services, one that’s worth highlighting is their sport-specific training, which is specifically for athletic performance enhancement and aids in reducing injury risks. We think it’s great that the personal trainers will customize this for different needs and sports.

Finally, we must mention that they work strictly on an appointment basis. While others will see this as a downside, we actually like this because it means there’s no wasted time waiting for a piece of equipment to be available-–their gym is spacious, too!

Pros

  • A women-only gym
  • Has an award-winning trainer
  • Provides competition prep training plan
  • Training sessions are available daily
  • Accommodates different time zones
  • Prices are in the usual range in Toronto

Cons

  • Only offers online classes

Build My Body Beautiful is all about providing a safe space for women who want to lose weight, build muscle, or want to start their fitness journey. We don’t mind that they accept women only because, frankly, there are tonnes of unisex gyms in Ontario.

What we particularly like about Build My Body Beautiful is that their personal trainers hold clients accountable, experienced, and hold various certifications.

For instance, their founder, Ana Plenter, is an award-winning fitness competitor and a certified Personal Trainer Specialist.

Service-wise, we think it’s notable that they offer personal training, competition prep, custom plans, and ready-made plans.

Their competition prep is also incredible, as it’s all-inclusive, providing training plans, diet, attire, aesthetics, posing, and a post-show maintenance plan.

For those who don’t really want to join a bikini competition, don’t worry—their personal training program is customizable. We were impressed with how well they tailored the plan to support each client.

We just have one thing to nitpick, though: their personal training is only available online. On the other hand, virtual training provides flexible hours and complete privacy—these sessions are also available daily, allowing them to accommodate clients in different time zones.

Lastly, we noted that their monthly personalized training and diet plan is $349, and we’re happy to find the prices are within the usual range in Toronto.

Pros

  • Specializes in clients aged 50+
  • Has five locations in Ontario
  • Sessions are available daily
  • Has in-studio, virtual, and in-person sessions
  • Offers reasonable rates

Cons

  • Not all gyms offer in-studio sessions

Nielsen Fitness caught our eye because they specialize in personal training. Here’s what they do: train all ages and fitness levels, focusing on clients aged 50+.

That’s not all, though. We were impressed that they specialize in training clients with unique requirements, like chronic pain and injuries. Because of this, each client gets a personalized training plan, which is really useful for various needs.

They’re also really accessible to Ontario residents because they have five locations in the province: Toronto, Collingwood, London, Hamilton, and Ottawa. It’s also a plus in our books that their gyms are open daily!

And hey, why stop there in terms of great accessibility? We found that their personal trainers offer in-studio, virtual, and in-home training sessions. Clients we surveyed also praised them for being approachable and flexible, especially to senior citizens.

However, a glitch we found is that only their Toronto and Collingwood gyms offer in-studio training sessions. But all offer online and in-home classes, so that’s still a plus.

If you prefer to work out at their studio, we found that they have private and semi-private training plans—perfect for clients who want to exercise with a buddy.

Regarding the prices, we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable they were. We learned that their cheapest program is only $75 per session.

Pros

  • Open daily
  • Provides an athletic training program
  • Has a 5,000 sq ft facility
  • Rates are within the reasonable range

Cons

  • No virtual training available

Hamilton Fitness Academy stands out for being the only private training facility in Hamilton. But what piqued our interest is their reputation in the community, which we found to be stellar due to their incredible trainers.

We learned that their personal trainers provided constant support to their clients and were always clear with instructions. These qualities are important for us because they show their attentiveness and dedication.

Their 5,000 sq ft training facility also impressed us, as it’s spacious and has complete equipment. We noticed how clean the place is too, and the trainers were very accommodating, which we believe helped avoid the intimidating feeling at the gym.

While their facility mainly works as an open gym, they still offer affordable one-on-one coaching (priced at a reasonable $350 for monthly personal training). We appreciate that they also offer fascial stretch therapy, group training, and athletic training.

But we think they shine the most in their athletic training program. This is coupled with DBC-certified coaches, which means they provide data-driven programs for impressive results.

The only downside we found is they don’t have virtual training plans. It’s not a big problem, though, since they’re open daily and have personal trainers who are fun and focused at the same time.
