Walk to the 5 Best Podiatrists in Vancouver and Say Bye to Foot Pain!

  • Experience and Specialisation - To make sure you get the right diagnosis and treatment, we selected podiatrists in Vancouver with years of experience treating various conditions, like bunions and sprains.
  • Approach - For a stress-free visit, we prioritised podiatrists with a compassionate approach because visiting a clinic doesn’t have to be scary.
  • Availability - We based this on their schedule and booking system, so patients can seek out podiatrists much faster.
  • Cost and Billing Options - We checked if their prices meet the average range in Vancouver to cater to all kinds of budgets. We gave extra points to services that provide direct billing to insurance.

We tend to downplay foot pain, which, I admit, I’ve done before. When my feet would start hurting, I would brush them off, thinking it was normal and that I probably needed new shoes.

But alas, that wasn’t the case. There was a deeper problem that no amount of shoes could fix. Don’t be like me (someone who’d pop in an over-the-counter medicine instead of addressing the issue).

Foot pain is serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly because, well, we need to use our feet every day! After lots of pain-free walking (finally!) and research (as always), here are our most trusted podiatrists who can make the pain go away!

It’s not surprising that Dr. Faiyaz Dedhar made it to our list. His clinic, Kerrisdale Family Foot Clinic, is a one-stop destination for all your podiatry needs, whether it’s a small problem or a more complex one that may need surgery.

Dr. Dedhar also has plenty of experience in surgeries. He knows every facet of podiatry, including sports medicine and biomechanics, making him capable of diagnosing and treating various conditions.

Plus, he specialises in a lot of foot conditions, and when we say a lot, we mean from bunions to custom orthotics. Every patient will also receive a tailored treatment plan from the doctor himself during the thorough consultation.

Judging by what we’ve seen, he knows how to provide the right advice. Most of the patients applauded him and his team for their clear instructions and aftercare service.

We like his accessibility as well. His clinic is open six days a week, but there’s no guarantee for appointments made online. Though there’s direct billing, it’s for Pacific Blue Cross only.

Pros

  • Knows every facet of podiatry
  • Open 6 days a week
  • Offers direct billing
  • Provides clear instructions
  • Good aftercare service

Cons

  • Online appointments aren’t guaranteed
  • Only one insurance for direct billing

    Thorough and helpful

“Highly recommend! Dr. Dedhar was thorough and helpful on my first visit to his office. His kind and caring demeanour put me at ease. He advised me on personal foot care, best shoes, exercises, and best practices going forward. I am so happy that I can keep walking my dog while being good to my feet. Thank you! 🐕‍🦺🐾👣”

    Huge help with aftercare

“Dr. Dedhar is so professional and good at what he does – I’ve had to get ingrowns cut out twice by him and he’s been so knowledgeable, gentle and comforting throughout a not-so-fun procedure. A huge help with aftercare and questions I’ve had as well. Would absolutely recommend.”

We were impressed by how well Dr. Roy L. Mathews treated his patients from start to finish. Let’s start with his consultations, which we have to say, have been super extensive.

Based on our observations, he knows how to treat clients well. He answered every question and gave clear instructions, which we found really helpful for nervous patients.

He mainly focuses on bunion surgeries and sports medicine. But he still treats other conditions, such as Morton’s neuroma and plantar fasciitis, making him knowledgeable in various issues.

We appreciate his experience in surgeries. He’s the kind of person you can trust, and true enough, he’s successfully treated many patients who came into the clinic.

It’s a bummer the clinic is closed on weekends. The good news is that the team is very responsive!

His clinic is also a solid choice, price-wise. The overall service makes every loonie worth it, and if you compare the rates in the area, Dr. Mathews’ services won’t break the bank!

    Pros

    • Extensive consultations
    • Specialises in surgeries
    • Responsive team
    • Good pricing

    Cons

    • Closed on weekends

      Very friendly and professional

Took my son to Dr Quintoro for custom orthotics. His front staff are very friendly and professional. Dr Quintoro was really lovely and took all the time needed to explain what my son needed. My son has autism and is super difficult in these situations and Dr Quintoro was extremely patient and understanding with him. Highly recommend him!”

Dr. Alysha Patel at Vancouver Foot & Ankle Clinic is one of our most accessible podiatrists in Vancouver. There are two offices in Greater Vancouver and one in Burnaby—there are free parking areas in all clinics, too!

Another thing that makes her accessible is her services, because there’s a lot! She specialises in various foot conditions, such as heel pain, neuroma, and orthotics.

It’s worth mentioning that Dr. Patel has been very friendly and professional. During our surveys, she received compliments for being easy to talk with and for taking the time to explain every single thing, which ultimately led to a smoother process.

The clinic’s financial terms deserve a spotlight, even though they don’t do direct billing. Since they’re partially funded by MSP, some services are covered by the provincial health plan.

It’s understandable there’s no direct billing since most podiatrist services aren’t generally covered by health insurance. There are a bunch of payment options accepted, anyway, like e-transfer and credit cards.

      Pros

      • Has several clinics
      • Friendly and professional team
      • Partially funded by the MSP
      • Accepts various payment options

      Cons

      • No direct billing

        Extremely helpful

“I saw Dr Patel for the second time. She is knowledgeable, personable and informative about both treatment and prevention. . On both occasions she has been extremely helpful in addressing my issues. I would highly recommend.”

Always provided the best care possible

“I have been a patient of Dr Patel for over 7 years and she has supported me through 2 major foot reconstructive surgeries. She has always provided me with the best care possible. Both she and her staff have exemplified expertise, kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile at each and every appointment. I would give ten stars if I could!”

We love an accessible clinic, which is exactly what Dr. Sunny Lai provides. He’s served Burnaby for over 25 years and has continued to stick to a conservative approach.

Basically, instead of moving towards surgery, he will utilise non-invasive options first. That way, patients can find the best treatments first without undergoing surgery, which comes with risks, like all procedures do.

But if you need surgery, there are no worries because Dr. Lai is a trained surgeon. He specialises in sports medicine while also offering other podiatry services, like pediatric care and dermatological foot disorders.

The clinic’s accessibility is worth mentioning. Aside from speaking in Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish, they also have two clinics.

The Burnaby clinic is open from Monday to Saturday, but the one in Port Coquitlam is only open once a week, depending on the doctor’s availability.

Sadly, they don’t offer direct billing. On the upside, their prices are decent and within the normal range you’ll see in Vancouver.

        Pros

        • Sticks to a conservative approach
        • Has two clinics
        • Speaks other languages
        • Prices are within the average range

        Cons

        • No direct billing
        • Limited availability in the Port Coquitlam clinic

          Extremely knowledgeable and efficient

“Dr. Midy Liou fixed my foot in one session! I had been seeing another podiatrist every four weeks for better part of a decade with some corns and other things and Dr. Liou fixed the problem in one session! He is extremely knowledgeable and efficient. I cannot recommend him enough!”

          Office was very accommodating

“Dr. Lai was awesome! He helped me with some painful calluses built up on my foot and took the time to explain everything to me. The office was very accommodating as well, they were able to get me in a bit earlier than my appointment time.”

West Vancouver Foot Clinic grabbed our attention because of their experienced and knowledgeable podiatrist, Dr. Shenin Mohamed. She has even received recognition, including one for an article she wrote about podiatry.

She also accepts simple and more challenging cases, making her clinic more accessible. Everything is under one roof here, from medical pedicure to foot surgery.

Plus, it’s awesome that the clinic carries a lot of products that can help alleviate foot conditions. We found that there’s a wide range of sandals here, including branded ones, like Birkenstock!

Dr. Mohamed’s approach also impressed us. She (and her staff) were applauded for ensuring the patients were comfortable, although there were a few instances when she arrived a little late, which isn’t a common issue anyway.

It’s unfortunate they’re closed on weekends. It’s still worth taking a day off from work since her rates have been reasonable, especially when compared to other podiatry clinics in the area.

          Pros

          • Received recognition in the field
          • Carries a wide range of products
          • Reasonable pricing
          • Provides a comfortable environment

          Cons

          • Closed on weekends
          • A few instances of late arrivals

Organised and professional from start to finish

“West Van Family Dental is an excellent clinic—very organized and professional from start to finish. Dr. Mahsa did a fantastic job with my treatment; she was gentle, knowledgeable, and thorough. Honey at the front desk was warm and welcoming, making the whole process smooth. Eli, the assistant, was kind and efficient, helping everything run seamlessly. Highly recommend this amazing team!”
