Pros
- Ophthalmologist has over 20 years of experience
- Has an advanced post-graduate diploma
- Performed 50,000 procedures
- Offers seven types of eye procedures
- Has lots of PWD parking space
- Clinic is accessible via public transportation
Cons
- Some instances of poor customer service
Most people will feel at ease knowing they can receive treatment from a seasoned ophthalmologist. And if you are one of those, we think Dr. Daniel Senekal would fit your liking.
Dr. Senekal has been an ophthalmologist in Edmonton for over 20 years. We are amazed that he has performed more than 50,000 eye procedures during those years!
Aside from that, we think the advanced post-graduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery he received from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, could instill more confidence in you since it is an unusual academic achievement.
We are also glad to share that Dr. Senekal can perform almost all types of laser and vision-correcting procedures. To be more specific, he and his clinic, VisionMax Eye Centre, offers seven types of eye surgery.
Among those procedures, what we find the most interesting is the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL), which is suitable for patients with a higher degree of refractive error in the eyes.
Another aspect of the clinic that we like is its parking area. In addition to its large size, what we think is the most notable is the numerousness of PWD parking spaces. Also, it is only five minutes from the nearest bus stop at Ellerslie road.
In addition, Dr. Senekal has been well-received by his patients because of his bedside manner. Most were satisfied because he made them feel comfortable by patiently explaining the details of the procedure.
However, we found a few instances wherein the clinic has poorly attended to some clients. Some of these involved waiting for long hours only to receive a hasty check-up–sometimes not by Dr. Senekal himself.
Hopefully, the doctor and the clinic could resolve these issues to elevate clients’ experience. Overall, we still think visiting Visionmax Eye Centre is still worth a shot, given Dr. Senekal’s experience and capability to handle complicated cases.

Pros
- The clinic has eight types of eye procedures
- Has founded a digital health database for patients
Cons
- Has only one ophthalmologist
- Relatively younger than others
- Frequently long waiting times
- Public transportations are far from the clinic
Dr. Miral Mehta is one of the ophthalmologists in Edmonton that offers pediatric eye care. So if you are looking for a reliable eye doctor for your kids, this would be helpful information.
But aside from that, Dr. Mehta also attends to adults with eyesight problems. All in all, she and her clinic, Stellar Integrated Eye Care, offers seven types of eyesight procedures for dry eyes, cataracts, and glaucoma, among others, for people of all ages.
Furthermore, we should mention that Dr. Mehta has a decade of medical experience, though her clinic started operating in 2021. Compared to others, she and her business have fewer years of experience.
Nevertheless, the clinic possesses some of the newest medical equipment for better patient diagnoses. These include the latest corneal topography, wide-angle retinal cameras, and optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Also, we think Dr. Mehta’s passion for healthcare is a redeemable factor. Specifically, Dr. Mehta also founded Atom Health, a decentralized health database for patients.
Now, in patient care, Dr. Mehta has lots of positive feedback. Although many mentioned that the waiting time is usually long, her punctuality and thoroughness in explaining their conditions made everything worth the wait.
You can find the clinic near the Beulah Alliance Church Southwest Campus. Sadly, aside from being located in the far southwestern part of the city, visiting there using public transportation would be a pain since there are no bus stops near it.
3. Dr. Parampal Grewal – Alberta Retina Consultants

Pros
- Has two ophthalmological specialties
- Ophthalmologist has excellent credentials
- The clinic can perform surgery on 13 eye problems
Cons
- Has relatively lesser experience than others
In our book, nothing says “reassuring service” better than a professional with extensive credentials. And aside from Dr. Parampal Grewal, nothing fits that description the best.
Dr. Grewal is one of the few eye surgeons in Edmonton with a solid track record as a physician. He has two retina fellowships, two board certifications (both in Canada in the United States), and over 50 scholarly works published.
Additionally, he is also a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon. And we think all of those would have more weight if we consider that he has only worked as a medical professional in 2014 and as an ophthalmologist in 2019.
Outside of those, we also found that Dr. Prewal is known by his clients as a forthcoming and thoughtful ophthalmologist. There are a lot of patients who mentioned that he checks on them even outside of his regular office hours.
Meanwhile, we are impressed to share that Dr. Prewal’s clinic, Alberta Retinal Consultant, can treat 13 ocular problems. Those include hereditary eye diseases, such as Stargardt’s Disease and Von Hippel Lindau.
And if you are planning to visit, we think you would have zero trouble parking your vehicles because aside from the clinics, you can also park at the Royal Alexandra Eye Clinic.
4. Dr. Audrey A. Chan – Edmonton Eyelids

Services: Reconstructive Eye Surgery and Functional Eye Surgery
Website: https://www.alberta-retina.com
Contact Details: +1 780-425-4521
Company Address: 10924 107 Ave NW Unit 400, Edmonton, AB T5H 0X5, Canada
Operating Hours: Mondays to Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Fridays, 8:30 – 2:30 PM

Pros
- Eye surgeon works as an instructor at a university
- The clinic also offers eye cosmetic surgery
- Location is accessible via public transportation
Cons
- The clinic has shorter operation hours on Fridays
- Few reports of unwelcoming behaviour from the physician
Dr. Audrey Chan is one of the ophthalmologists in Edmonton with trustworthy credentials. She has been an eye surgeon for over 12 years – a plus on our books!
In those years, she has worked as a clinical instructor too. Before staying at the University of Alberta, Dr. Chan has also been an active faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
However, what we find most interesting about Dr. Chan is her versatility as a physician. Apart from ophthalmic procedures, she can provide cosmetic eye surgery to her patients.
Her eye treatment services are available at the Edmonton Eyelid. Here, patients can get a wide array of reconstructive and functional eye surgery, including treatments for lacrimal and orbital disease and thyroid orbitopathy, among others.
Although those factors are alright, the clinic’s lack of parking space for PWDs missed the mark for us. Nevertheless, patients will have easy time parking because the clinic’s location, First Edmonton Place, has numerous parking spots.
And if you are only using public transportation, we are happy to share that Edmonton Eyelids is near the Corona light rail station. And if you are going via bus, there are two other bus stops along Jasper Avenue – which is pretty convenient in our books!
Meanwhile, Dr. Chan’s bedside treatment is a mixed bag that we think is important for you to know. Although many are satisfied with her timeliness, few patients said that her attitude can be improved..
Most unsatisfied clients complained that Dr. Chan was impatient in explaining their cases during consultations. It made them feel the doctor improperly attended to them.
Lastly, unlike other clinics in Edmonton, Edmonton Eyelids has shorter operation hours on Fridays. So, you may want to avoid being late if you’re scheduled on a Friday afternoon to avoid missing your appointment.
5. Dr. Mahta Rasouli – King LASIK

Services: LASIK surgery and PRK
Website: https://www.kinglasik.ca

Pros
- Ophthalmologist has an excellent credential
- Ophthalmologist has an eye tele-clinic
- The clinic performs seven types of eye surgery
- The clinic offers LASIK surgery
- Her clinics are accessible via public transportation
Cons
- Clinic’s waiting hours are usually long
Are you looking for an ophthalmologist with a versatile skill set? Perhaps Dr. Mahta Rasouli would not fail to meet your expectations.
Aside from the usual ophthalmic services that others offer, she can perform refractive surgery and LASIK surgery. On top of that, Dr. Rasouli has over ten years of professional experience and performed over 10,000 eye procedures!
In addition, we also found that Dr. Rasouli manages a tele-eyecare clinic named E-eyecare and works as a clinical instructor at the University of Alberta. These indicate her passion as a physician, which is a plus point for us.
We also like that Dr. Rasouli meets the expectations of her clients in terms of service and approachability. Most mentioned that they liked how she answered their questions simply and understandably.
Dr. Rasouli is available at the Edmonton Eye Clinic (EEC) and King LASIK. And whichever clinic you choose, we are glad to share that both are accessible via bus and at least five minutes from bus stations.
At EEC, you can get four types of eye procedures, including treatment for neuro-ophthalmological diseases. Aside from that, we also like its overall facility, since it has numerous exam rooms and the latest eye laser machines.
Meanwhile, at King LASIK, she and other eye surgeons can provide seven types of surgery, such as Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and various LASIK surgeries.
And, if you are planning to visit Dr. Rasouli at King LASIK, we are glad to share that aside from a spacious parking area, the clinic has many PWD parking spots. But unfortunately, because of its popularity, its waiting hours are usually long.
