For Your Health Journey Edmonton’s 5 Best Nutritionists

For Your Health Journey: Edmonton’s 4 Best Nutritionists

  • Credentials - To ensure clients see qualified nutritionists, we checked the qualifications, training, and years of experience in the industry.
  • Offerings - We based this on the variety of services that allow nutritionists to serve the client's various needs and whether they can cater to all ages.
  • Approach - We searched for providers who are professional and show constant support to clients.
  • Availability - We looked at how flexible their schedules are and those who are strong communicators.

We all know that we should prioritize our health and wellness, but sometimes, we just don’t know where to start. Is meal planning the way to go? How many vegetables should cover our plates? Should you go on keto or paleo? It can get crazy!

Well, consulting with the best nutritionist in Edmonton can help, as they have a deep understanding of how complex food habits can be. So, if you’re looking for an expert to guide you on your health journey, check out our top picks below!

Pros

  • Works with whole and plant-based food
  • Accepts clients of all ages
  • Short-term programs are available
  • Has reasonable prices

Cons

  • No in-person meetings available

Nourished by Bri was founded by Brianna Meghawache, a registered dietitian. What impressed us was her background on dealing with patients with various nutrition-related illnesses in hospitals.

We also believe her experience working as a personal trainer for four years is notable because she has gained a deep understanding of exercise physiology.

Another thing we learned about Meghawache is she specializes in a holistic approach and works with whole foods and plant-fuelled diets. But what we think stands out most is her focus on restoring gut health.

Basically, we found that she helps clients ditch diets and restrictive eating. Frankly, we admire how she helps with her client’s healthy relationship with food.

And from our chats with her, we love how she focuses on giving science-based advice. No need to worry, though, because she’s great at breaking down technical stuff so we’re able to understand everything easily!

It’s also worth highlighting that she works with clients of all ages—yup, including babies and toddlers. That includes individuals with various kinds of health conditions.

As for her offerings, we like that there’s no pressure to commit to a long-term program because she has three and six-month programs, Kickstart (a mini-course), and NourishMNT intensive. Prices are reasonable in Edmonton, too, starting at $170.

However, we noticed that since she only does online or phone coaching—she’s not available for in-person meetings. But that’s fine, though, since she’s accessible by email all the time if you’re a client.

Pros

  • Has four nutritionists available
  • Provides in-person and virtual consultations
  • Offers free 15-minute assessments
  • Focuses on sports nutrition

Cons

  • Private practice initial consultations are pricey

Edmonton’s Taylor Nutrition earned a spot on our list because of their elite team of registered dietitians. We were pretty thrilled to learn they have four nutritionists on the team, with a combined experience of 25 years!

Their founder, Lalitha Taylor, has an exceptional background and training, and she used to be the national spokesperson for Dietitians of Canada! Hence, we believe she’s the perfect fit to head the team.

Something that caught our attention is that the nutritionists here call themselves “Performance Dieticians,” and this is because all of them are athletes!

We think this aspect makes them the perfect fit if you’re an athlete or a sports hobbyist looking to incorporate specific sports performance nutrition strategies.

And for individuals with health-specific nutrition needs, Lalitha’s private practice is open for consultation. She can accommodate a broad clientele as well, from babies to seniors, vegans, vegetarians, pregnant women, and more.

On the downside, we found the initial consultation here is a bit steep at $265. But we want to note that this is a very comprehensive assessment and can be done either in-person or virtually.

Also, follow-up sessions aren’t as pricey, costing $160 for 1 hour and $80 for 30 minutes.

Even better, we’re happy to find that before the initial assessment, clients could choose the free 15-minute discovery call to see if Taylor Nutrition is the best fit for their needs. This way, there’s no need to burn through cash if you don’t feel like they’re the right fit!

Pros

  • Offers many services
  • Works with individuals and families
  • Accepts children as clients
  • Prices are reasonable
  • Focuses on a weight-neutral approach

Cons

  • Doesn’t have free consultations
  • Has limited availability

One of our favourite things about Philosophy Wellness Inc. is their vast array of services. They work with individuals, athletes, and families, making them accessible to many Edmontonians.

The business was founded by Jessica Hess, a registered dietitian, registered massage therapist, and certified personal trainer, who has been practicing since 2009. She has also worked with many athletes preparing for the Canada Winter and Summer Games!

With these certifications and experience under her belt, we can conclude that she has a deep understanding of health and fitness.

In our books, what makes Jessica stand out, though, is her intuitive eating service.

It’s a weight-neutral method where clients won’t feel pressured to weigh a certain number.

What’s good about this is it advocates for healthy habits since it’s a non-restrictive approach. Clients we spoke with mentioned how much Jessica helped them understand why their body needs particular food, thus helping them make healthier food choices.

We also like that Jessica has other programs, such as the family nutrition program for toddlers to adults. She also offers sports nutrition for individuals with an active lifestyle.

It’s also worth highlighting that consultations are available at her office and online. But her rates are a tad higher than the others on this list, since she charges $180 for an initial consultation.

But it was a bummer she doesn’t offer free consultations for clients who want to get a feel of things first.

Still, we think her services are worth the money, considering her pricing starts at a reasonable $180 for an initial consultation. However, we found she has limited availability, only accepting appointments three days a week.

Pros

  • Works with kids and adults
  • Offers pediatric nutrition program
  • Prices are affordable
  • Available for in-person and online consultations

Cons

  • No free consultations

In To It Nutrition caught our attention because founder Leah Cheung has an extensive background working with kids and adults. She’s previously worked at health centres and hospitals, where she counselled people about healthy eating habits.

Leah also has a wide range of services, like intuitive eating, sports nutrition, and pediatric nutrition. Basically, we found that her offerings reach many people in Edmonton because she has a program for pretty much anyone.

It also helps that Leah’s a registered dietitian and a certified Intuitive Eating counsellor with a degree in Psychology – and she uses all these tools under her belt to help people heal their damaged relationship with food.

For us, though, Leah’s pediatric nutrition program is where she shines the most, where she helps parents and guardians connect with picky eaters through food. She’s also a parent, so she’s had first-hand experience working with kids.

As for her availability, we found she has enough slots to cater to new clients. She’s open to having in-person and online appointments too, a plus for convenience!

Finally, the icing on the cake is she’s one of the most affordable nutritionists we found in Edmonton, starting at $130 for initial assessments and $65 for follow-ups. With those prices, we can forgive her for not providing free consultations, no?
